  1. Here is how I see it. First off, I think the guys we need back are Everett, Sullivan, Thomas, Gordon, Loaiza. Guys we should lose are Valentin, Koch, Daubach, Alomar, Alomar Jr., and Manuel. The Yankees will likely steal Colon. People I'd like to see the Sox after are Christian Guzman or Miguel Tejada. I'd like to see them try to sign Carlos Beltran, if they want to go for it all next year. But it'll cost them 12 million a year with Scott Boras as his agent... I see our team like this: Rotation Loaiza (still our best, no matter what) Buehrle Garland Pacheco?/Yofu?/Cotts?/Diaz? Schoeneweis (will get his shot at our rotation in 2004. Liked what I saw today.) Bullpen Wunsch Sullivan Marte Gordon (Full time closer?) Sanders (Lefty, could make an impact, some MLB experience) Wright (I'm praying he doesn't make the rotation) Lineup SS Christian Guzman (throw $15 for 2 or 3 years, he's worth it.) LF Carlos Lee 1B Frank Thomas (maybe a new manager would realize how much this helps Thomas) RF Magglio Ordonez CF Carl Everett (in a perfect world, Beltran. But atleast Everett is a competitor) DH Paul Konerko 3B Joe Crede 2B Aaron Miles C Miguel Olivo Bench C Mike Rivera C/IF Jaime Burke IF Tony Graffanino OF Willie Harris OF Aaron Rowand
  2. Halftime. Ellings misses a 53 yard field goal wide left. Stewart kneels to kill the clock.
  3. Touchdown pass 20 yards from Stewart to TERRELL! It's a miracle! XP good 17-10 Vikings...2nd Quarter.
  4. I wasn't born at this time but I found a record of a guy called Herb Washington who played for the A's in the 70's. He never hit, but he had 29 steals off the bench in 92 games. The 25th spot on the roster could be very useful. Let's sign a world class sprinter for our team. Give him $500,000 to run the bases for us the last couple weeks . He'd never get out either. I'd guarantee that! Herb Washington's career record: http://baseball-reference.com/
  5. The Herald yesterday or the day before said it was a 4:05 game, but the site said 6:05. Lotta confusion here .
  6. The Twins are having a Sox like slump...mmmm....yes.
  7. It's ok I guess . I made it with Microsoft Picture It! 2002.
  8. You're right, but I just don't see anything good about the Twins. So I expect them to go under .500 the rest of the way just because they have another round with us, and they are losing to Detroit, maybe they'll stay cold.
  9. Just felt like putting all of the options on paper.... As of Saturday..... September 13th, 2003 AL CENTRAL In the Race White Sox (78-69) .531 - Twins (78-69) .531 - Royals (74-72) .507 3.5 Out of contention Indians (65-83) .439 13.5 Tigers (38-108) .260 39.5 Breakdown Best Hitting Team (AVG) Minnesota has a .278 team batting average which ranks 5th in the MLB. They get alot of runners on base to create many rbi opportunities, the key to their offense is base hits and base running since they don't have the luxury of power hitters in their lineup with the exception of Torii Hunter who has 24 home runs. Most Power (HR) The White Sox have 205 team home runs which ranks 4th in the MLB. Frank Thomas leads the pack with 40 home runs. The White Sox also have 5 players who have more than 20 home runs including: Thomas, Lee, Everett, Ordonez, and Valentin. Crede and Konerko may very well join that group. Best Baserunners (SB) The Royals use speed to their advantage. Kansas City's 103 SB this year ranks 4th in the MLB. The Royals are lead by Carlos Beltran who has 34 steals, not to mention 22 HR and a .300 batting average. Beltran is followed by the two middle infielders, Desi Relaford (19) and Angel Berroa (15). Most Productive (Runs, Total Bases, and RBI) The White Sox have a total of 708 runs and 685 RBI. Leading the way in runs is Magglio Ordonez who has 90 runs, followed by Carlos Lee with 88, and Frank Thomas with 79. Trading deadline aquisition Carl Everett has totaled 87 runs on the season and Roberto Alomar has 38 runs in 57 games with the White Sox. White Sox RBI leaders include: Carlos Lee (100), Frank Thomas (94), and Magglio Ordonez (89). Minnesota is very close to the White Sox in production. Kansas City has allowed more runs than they have totaled. Best Pitching (ERA) The White Sox have a 4.17 team ERA which is 3rd in the AL. Cy young Candidate Esteban Loaiza (19-7) has been untouchable most of the year and is followed by Bartolo Colon (13-12) and Mark Buehrle (12-13). Damaso Marte and Kelly Wunsch both earn sub 2 ERA's while Tom Gordon and Scott Sullivan have been stoppers in bases loaded situations. Best Closer (SV and ERA) Eddie Guardado was an All-Star this year, then again so was Kansas City's Mike MacDougal. But Guardado has had a big 2nd half and has also compiled a 2.95 ERA and 34 Saves. MacDougal has 27 (8 BS). Guardado has just blown 3 saves this year and is usually the at the top of his game in the ninth. The White Sox Tom Gordon and Damaso Marte usually are in a closer platoon type role, it's one or the other with the game on the line, but as for consistency, it's all Guardado. Bold Prediction White Sox 86-76 Minnesota 84-78 Kansas City 82-80 Explaination: I think the White Sox have the team most fit to be in the playoffs and they have the lineup and rotation to do it. But because of a harder schedule and rivals playing an easier schedule I think it will come down to the last week of the season.
  10. We-Are-Still-In-First-Place
  11. It seems like the Sox and the Twins are playing a game of hot potato where no one wants to get first place. It's like the two teams don't wanna make the playoffs. White Sox take the first 2 from the Twins at home, Twins take the last two. White Sox lose to a very good team, Twins lose to a very bad team....I just don't get it. Some team will have to step up and take 1st place, but can a team that wins a division with possibly 84 wins make it deep in October???? It's not likely, which is why I'm kind of upset right now. I hope the White Sox go with a 4 man rotation and get the bats going. I think it's our managers fault though, you don't throw Dan Wright instead of Mark Buehrle or Bartolo Colon against the Red Sox. You just have to have common sense. I think a die hard White Sox fan would manage better than Manuel. Bringing in Koch was ok, letting him stay in with the bases full was not....I'm sick and tired of Jerry Manuel. The Sox better go out and get a better manager this off-season. They HAVE to.
  12. If Everett leaves, what do you think the ETA is on Reed? Summer 2004?
  13. Kurkjerk is such a hypocrite. He said that Kansas City would win the division, he's been riding the Sox all year long for not winning early on. He's full of it. Frank deserves MVP. Frank has had at least two games where he's homered twice and won the game for us, one vs. Anaheim the other vs. Minnesota. He's got a killer OBP. And he's driving runs in. Frank also is 2nd in homers. He will win it.
  14. Well then, when is that time? Because time is running out. And I think 5 games on KC and 4 on Minnesota by the end of the series could do it. I seriously think that there is no way this team has a chance at getting sweeped by Minnesota or Kansas City anytime this season.
  15. Defeating Santana would crush Minnesota and would likely mean a sweep since they are sending up Radke vs. Loaiza, who has been a Twin killer since the first game he pitched against them this year. It'd be nice to beat Santana who was 5-0 in August. I can see the White Sox beating him. Let's hope JG has his sinker going for him tonight. Things will be ok.
