Hawk and TLR share that idea of TWTW trait a little too much....it couldn’t be because they are both past their times could it....shocker right there. If you are in the hawk, TLR and Dusty Baker let’s manage straight from the gut instinct it’s a hard pass for me with anyone with that mentality at that age. You have to have a good understanding of advanced stats and have that gut feeling from time to time. I feel like some of these stats for these older managers is the equivalent to teaching your grandparents how to use a computer or smartphone.

Rick Hahn is Sporting News Executive of the Year

I mean Abreu said he was gonna sign back here himself so I wouldn’t consider it -
Disagree. This is a lateral move at best. I was on the fire RR bandwagon all season long and was one of his biggest critics but he in my opinion is much much better option than LaRussa at this point. He has not managed since 2011, 76 years old, you really think he’s going to survive in the analytics/ metrics world nowadays? How do you think he’s going to react to the TA bat flips, bullpen management that made LaRussa so successful has changed over the past 9 years, I.e. 3 batter minimums. The game has simply evolved in my opinion way past his chapped ass ways.
-
Bob Nightengale making me throw up in my mouth on the Whitesox talk podcast. LaRussa and Jerry bff forever story and riding off in the sunset together if they make it to the World Series. If that is what gets him the job because of Jerry’s hard on for him and he can’t put his friendship aside then Jerry has burned this rebuild before it even got off the ground.
-
I’d take that friends and family plan then the last one we got Brantley and Hinch >>>Jay and Alonso The Astros are like Verizon friends and Family and Jay and Alonso are like the cricket friends and family plan
-
Problem is by signing LaRussa it could mean whiffing another free agent option....
-
Maybe I’m reaching a bit here but I think i will be more pissed if they sign LaRussa instead of signing AJ Hinch than I was when we whiffed on Machado. This next managerial hiring has huge implications for the future of this teams contention. LaRussa is too old for a manager nowadays and what has he done so great since being a special advisor for the last place angels? I don’t believe Hinch would sign up for a tandem pairing with LaRussa.
-
No way they pair LaRussa up with AJ Hinch. Why would he sign up for that when I’m sure Detroit would give him full reign of their organization if he asked for it.
-
If this happens what a horseshit move by this organization.
-
Summary?
-
Literally would rather have renteria still managing if the LaRussa stuff has legs
-
Whitesox are gonna screw this whole damn rebuild up by going back to LaRussa. How the hell can anyone be okay with this move???
-
Hard pass, he is beyond his years, hasn’t managed in forever and just might be a step backwards from Renteria at this point with the way baseball analytics come into play. If Hahn signs LaRussa as the manager that just might be a fireable offense and has a lot of questions to answer in regards to his media answers from yesterday
-
Good. He doesn’t strike me as a guy who can get a team over the hump. The Sox had the opportunity to go into the rebuild with him and chose RR over him. If it’s my decision it’s Hinch or Espada.
-
AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
HeGetzUs replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Don’t care. If he’s smart and can take us to the next level I don’t care whether he bet on baseball or cheated -
Yeah the but who portion of his tweet makes me think a guy like alomar is in play as well otherwise why not just state the obvious if your Stoney. It’s almost like he was being cryptic about his tweet but maybe I’m reading too much into it
-
Could be hinting at maybe Alomar too
-
I want someone totally outside this organization as manager. Hinch, Cora, Espada. Alomar is okay, but I don’t think he’s a guy that gets you over the top. The Alomar thing doesn’t make sense as a target in my opinion as they could have signed him when they hired Renteria.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
HeGetzUs replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’m just glad this firing didn’t take 2-3 years to happen. Hopefully with his firing this is a sign Covid or no covid the Sox are not screwing around and are going all in -
I think it’s because how pissed he was when the scandal was broken.
-
Joe Espada would be a play I could see the Sox making. Checks the box of Spanish speaking, winning caliber type and doesn’t draw the limelight like hinch and cora would.
-
Rick Hahn, if you read this board: please don't hire a cheater.

I’ve heard the critics against an Alomar move, albeit in a smaller role he made some questionable decisions in filling in for Francona. I don’t know if he’s the answer, plus the Sox interviewed him once already -
