  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) Dotel has some wicked movement tonight. And is hitting 95 on the gun!
  2. Good job by Thornton... Be nice to get him a win here.
  3. I don't think Kenny would have gone after this guy so hard, especially with his contract, if he thought anything like this was going to be a problem. And I think Jerry Reinsdorf might have asked Kenny, at least briefly, what kind of guy Rios is before giving the OK. So I go with the clean slate, too.
  4. QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:43 AM) the games not on TV saturday? A's wouldn't move the gametime out of Fox's exclusive time slot, so no TV.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:30 AM) Dye and Konerko are off sponsoring a search party to find Bartolo Colon. Why? At least everybody else in the clubhouse has a chance to get something to eat now.
  6. Beckham, Rios.... now would be the time, please, please.
  7. Wonder if Danks comes back out for the 9th.
  8. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) Good god this team needs a week off. Another one?
  9. Ozzie looks like he'd rather be on the beach in Miami than watching this.
  10. Yes, you should get lower-deck tickets for access there. I like the left-field seats behind the bullpen. They're almost as cheap as the bleachers and are a nice place to watch the game and check out the bullpen goings-on. Wow—if I was only going to one game and had to pick two food items, that would be hard. The Polish and onions is classic, the Italian beef is pretty good and where else but the ballpark are you going to get a good corndog? And there are also options like the steak pita and Connie's pizza. Just don't eat that day until you get there :-) Yes, go early for batting practice and a chance for autographs. And if you want some White Sox gear, get down there an hour or so before you plan on going into the ballpark and take a five-minute walk west on 35th to Grandstand Sports. They have more Sox gear than anyone and you'll get better prices there than at the ballpark.
  11. I love this move. We get an outstanding defensive CFer who hits .285 career with good power and great speed. There's no way we find a CFer with this kind of track record on the market this winter for this kind of money at Rios' age. A great move by KW and Reinsdorf, too. And isn't it cool to find much of the conversation here focused on how Ozzie's going to find enough at-bats for all the options he has for the rest of this season? Yes, kind of Yankee-esque, isn't it?
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) Yes, but given that there are 5 teams interested in him, Retardi can always just wait until the offseason and see what his value is again. The question he has to ask of course is if interested now, why weren't they last week? I think we're all praying for a salary dump here. There was a report a few days ago from AP with the Jays owner saying the team needed to cut costs. "We think that we can bring costs reasonably under control and more in line with revenues," Blue Jays CEO Nadir Mohamed said. So it's possible they decide to just let Rios go right now.
  13. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) walk off single Pods, book it. Dude, go buy a lotto ticket now.
  14. Well, I guess we can be thankful at least that Detroit didn't trade for an inexperienced pitcher who's never started against us before.
  15. QUOTE (OldSmoky2 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) DJ and Farmer said he's sick, but they don't know what it is. Jenks, that is.
  16. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) interesting.... DJ and Farmer said he's sick, but they don't know what it is.
  17. DJ says they "have word that Bobby is under the weather."
  18. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) There's always room for Pie. Hold on, Bartolo—we haven't made the deal yet.
  19. Brian Duensing, totals this year: 18 IP, 18 hits, 9 BB, 11 ER; career vs. Sox: 2 games, 5.1 IP, 7 hits, 2 ER... Let's hit this guy early and often, please.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:31 PM) We need to trade Wise for some grass seed. He's not even worth a bag of balls. Roger Bossard would not allow that level of grass seed anywhere near U.S. Cellular Field.
