  1. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) hehe... southsider and kap showered together.... and took pictures of it...
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) my gosh if we played full court one on one now, I'd fall over in about 10 seconds. from what I hear, the network cards are pretty cool. mine came built in with one. but I don't have a big hard drive on my station - which means there was one game that i couldn't play online because it was so huge. i don't remember which one it was. You must have gotten one of the slimline ones with the flip-up lid instead of the slid-out tray. I've had both and prefer the newer one much more. BTW, I think it was a Final Fantasy game that needs the bigger hard drive.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) Me too Looking at our pics from the shower, I think we have added about 100 pounds between us since college. I'm not even going to ask...
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) But most casual fans didn't care about getting into the opening ceremony. This year I anticipate the lines being way longer then in the past to get in for that. In years past not everyone made it in as it was. Do you know how many tickets are sold for each day? I thought I had heard somewhere around 3,000. I'd say there was at least half that in line/in the room for the opening ceremonies last year. Maybe more...
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) Well let's ad this mea culpa to the equation... Normally, Soxfest tickets don't sell out until right before the fest... This year they were gone before the Series was over. There could be a larger group of "no lifers" there this year. So be prepared. If they sold out last year and sold out this year wouldn't that mean there's the exact same number of people there? I don't think it really matters when they bought their tickets... BTW, for the original poster: The event is held 2 floors below the main floor. You don't have to worry about lining up outside. If you want to get into the room to see them introduce the players on Friday you'd better get there a few hours early though...
  6. I had a blast with Burnout 3 and Burnout revenge. I'm normally not into racing games but this one actually encourages you to crash into other cars. Any of the Medal of Honor or Call of Duty games are fun if you like first-person shooter games (like Doom). Sports games I can't really comment much on because the last one I bought was MLB 2002. I just rented NFL Blitz the league and it wasn't too bad. I also rented a baseball game but I don't remember which one... Grand Theft Auto or The Warriors are also fun games if you like going around and causing a lot of violence and mayhem.
  7. If someone tells you they are a chronic liar, do you believe them?
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) That's not bad!!!! Really? He's always seem to have a bit of a cult following and a lot of the people I know have at least heard some of his music but aren't really into it enough to buy a CD. Also, my wife also got to meet him and get an autograph on one of my cds.
  9. I have all the Weird Al Yankovic CDs and have seen him in concert twice.
  10. I still have a lot of my books. I used to read those things daily along with all my Charlie Brown and Garfield books.
  11. Two comments. First, has there been any thought to creating a wishlist type thread/ board for people that are looking to buy something that they can't seem to find? Or maybe they should just be seperate posts? Second, what are the rules/laws on selling recorded games? I don't think it's technically legal is it?

    Mittens or Gloves

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Trust me, I've bought "the right gloves". I've spent so much money on gloves it's ridiculous. Stand outside in the dead of winter, without moving anything but your arms slightly, for 8 hours. Then tell me there is any glove that works. The only ones are the hunting gloves I mentioned, and they are basically mittens. Maybe it's just me then. My wife complains that I give off a lot of body heat anyway. My biggest problem is keeping my feet and nose warm...
  13. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) i pronounce it JI-ROW, just to piss people off, I pronounce it that way just because I can't roll the "r" the right way. Nobody really seems to take offense though...
  14. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) when ordering at Taco Bell, ask for the steak Fah-jy-tah. They love that one. I once had a manager that told me he almost got kicked out of a restaurant for mis-pronouncing "gyro".

    Mittens or Gloves

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) For walking out to my car, and that is about it? Gloves. For anything even remotely dealing with spending time outside? Mittens. If you have ever worked outside, you will fully understand why gloves suck. The best are the hunting mittens. They are fingerless gloves that fold over to being mittens. With gloves, your fingers will NEVER stay warm, no matter what types of material you are using. With mittens, your fingers are able to keep each other warm. Try running a gun on a survey crew for 10 hours in 20 below zero temperatures, then tell me the people using mittens are not "men". I do just fine with gloves. Half the time my hands start to sweat. You are not buying the right gloves...
  16. I was out at 6am with the wife and mom-in-law. The traffic and crowds were suprisingly thin. It was probably due to the fact that there really weren't many good deals this year. Went to Wal-Mart in the afternoon and they still had entire pallets of their early-bird specials. I got a couple of good deals including a TV and DVD recorder both for under $100. Pretty much finished up all our shopping for friends and family.
  17. I'd recommend something above 3 or 4 megapixels and make sure you get one with optical zoom. Mine has digital zoom only and it really sucks for taking pictures from far away...
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) That's no longer a grilled cheese. It's a quesadilla. Has anyone else watched Napolean Dynamite and started prounouncing that word the same way his grandma does in the movie? She says the last part so that it almost rhymes with Godzilla. I did it once while ordering one at Taco Bell...
  19. The guy's best bet instead of being a retard and trying to sell all the tickets at once is to sell them individually. Just by selling opening day, the Cubs series, Yanks series and Red Sox series he should come pretty close to covering the amount he paid...

    XBox 360

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Reports out are saying that a good majority of 360's are crashing. Not good for Microsoft. To quote the kid from the Simpsons "HA HA!". Just one more reason I will never buy a game system on it's launch date (unless it's to sell it on Ebay for 10X what I paid for it ). I remember Sony having lots of problems with the first wave of PS2s as well.
  21. QUOTE(J-MAN @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) I just saw a post on e-bay for some guy selling two lower deck box seats for almost $7,000 on e-bay for season only - not the playoffs! Having recently purchased season tickets I e-mailed him and told him I thought he was nuts since you can buy them from the Sox at $4820 AND get the playoff tickets. After a few obscenities he said he couldn't put up with having to sit with Sox fans for six months and he was ahead since he got 4 world series tickets and hopes to sell the playoff tickets when we go to the series again next year! As a life long Sox fan it pains me to see people who are not fans profiteering on tickets real fans cannot get! I know life isn't fair but wish SOX FANS COULD BE THE ONES ABLE TO BUY TICKETS AND GO TO THE PLAYOFF GAMES. You know what's really funny? Nobody is going to pay those ridiculous prices and Ebay charges it's fees based on the asking price. So that dumbass just paid money to list an auction that had no chance of selling.

    XBox 360

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) That SUCKS for the person who just lost over $1,000. First time buyer as well. I somehow doubt the buyer lost anything. The seller was kicked off Ebay. That's almost as bad as the dude that sold an empty PS2 box when they first came out. It was pretty funny because it said right in the description that it was the box only. Somebody paid a couple hundred dollars for it and didn't realize they'd been deceived until they got the empty box in the mail...
  23. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Yep. I'm obviously in the wrong business. And I need to move...

    XBox 360

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) I will be prebuying a PS3, simply to resell. I've learned my lesson and I know they always undersell this. The thing with the Xbox release is it was probably more profitable for resellers because its right near Xmas. They way Sony is going, the PS3 will be released around Christmas too...
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) That type of style has happened out here over the past 5-6 years. Hell, 10 years ago a house that was than worth 200,000 in my area is now worth well over a million. Were talking about a 3000-4000 sq ft house on the hills. I think the best thing about real estate is that if you make the right investment you can profit a whole lot on it (obviously certain states and cities have real estate that appreciates more so than others) while not having to worry much about the tax burden (you don't pay taxes on the 1st 500,000 profit you make assuming you lived in the house for 2 years and are married). Heck the past 3 years in a lot of areas the real estate market has grown at 35-30% a year. Thats obviously not going to happen every year, but it definately happens. Its also why a lot of the richest people in the US are land owners and real estate moguls. The value of my house has gone up a whopping 35% in the last 5 years...
