QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) You dropped your penis. You might want to pick it up and put it back on. I liked to watch Full House only because of Candace Cameron.

Buy a new keyboard? You can get a decent one for 10-20 bucks.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) actually Paul didnt even SEE the ump raise his arm. He just ASSUMED it was a strike three - rolled it in and left. all the blame should be on Paul - he f***ed up big That's one more piece of damning evidence against JP. Had the umpire used a different "mechanic" to call that third strike I'm pretty sure he still would have rolled that ball towards the mound and went jogging towards the dugout.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) the fact that AJ stated he never heard an out call and Paul's never mentioning that he did hear him called out, I have to believe that Eddings pump to signal the strike and never called AJ out. I believe it's that fact that makes this whole discussion moot. Two little words that were never said: "He's out".

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) The Cubune sucks. BBTN are all idiots, unless picking the Sox. Sports Center are all idiots, unless picking the Sox. etc. etc. Actually, I think most Sox fans hate those three things no matter who they pick.

You know you're from Illinois if... 1. You've never met any celebrities. 2. Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway. 3. "Vacation" means going to Six Flags. 4. You've seen all the biggest bands ten years after they were popular. 5. You measure distance in minutes. 6. You know several people who have hit a deer. 7. Your school classes were canceled because of cold. 8. Your school classes were canceled because of heat. 9. You've ridden the school bus for an hour each way. 10. You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day. 11. You think ethanol makes your truck "run a lot better." 12. You know what's knee-high by the Fourth of July. 13. Stores don't have bags; they have sacks. 14. You see people wear bib overalls at funerals. 15. You see a car running in the parking lot at the store with no one in it no matter what time of the year. 16. You end your sentences with an unnecessary preposition. Example: "Where's my coat at?" or "If you go to town I wanna go with." 17. All the festivals across the state are named after a fruit, vegetable, grain, or animal. 18. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked. 19. You think of the major four food groups as beef, pork, beer, and Jell-O salad with marshmallows. 20. You carry jumper cables in your car. 21. You don't pronounce the "S" in Illinois like the rest of the world. 22. You only own 3 spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup. 23. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit. 24. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow. 25. You think everyone from a bigger city has an accent. 26. You think sexy lingerie is tube socks and a flannel nightie. 27. The local paper covers national and international headlines on one page but requires 6 pages for sports. 28. You think that deer season is a national holiday. 29. You know which leaves make good toilet paper. 30. You find -20 degrees F "a little chilly." 31. You know all 4 seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and construction. 32. You know if another Illinoisian is from southern, middle, or northern Illinois as soon as they open their mouth. 33. There is a Dairy Queen in every town with a population of 1000 of more. 34. You actually get these jokes and forward them to all your friends from Illinois. 35. You actually like them and use White Castle burgers as a laxative.

Look at the top righthand picture and then look at the two middle ones. The ball would've had to defy the laws of gravity to end up that high in Josh Paul's glove...

Crap. That means this screen I installed on my CD player is useless!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Why would he use his back up catcher to start the game, and have his starter DHing instead? He has got to be smart enough to realize if you need the better Molina in the game, you would lose the use of the DH for the rest of the game if you move him in at Catcher. Instead they PR for Molina late in the game, and instead Josh Paul has to go in at Catcher, meaning the 2nd base was an easy steal for Molina. Getting past the Strike 3/Out controversy, would they have sent Ozuna for 2nd with a Molina behind the plate? Could Ozuna have scored from first on Crede's ball to the wall? That one little move trying to give the better Molina a day off behind the plate, was a big factor in the 9th inning to say the least. This was also a big part of the 9th inning controversy. Had Josh Paul been in the entire game he would have known that the umpire did not say "no catch" the entire game and wouldn't have expected him to say it then.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) To add a thought to the "Josh Paul Couldn't See the Call" theory. In defense to an Illinois guy, he could see his teammate's reactions. If there had not been the fist pump call, he may have tossed to first, etc. He saw his first baseman heading to the dugout and reacted along the same lines. Paul was almost on the top step of the dugout and Erstad was still standing next to first base. I don't think he was going by his teammates reactions...

Cubs fans have no problem cheering for White Sox
Iwritecode replied to SouthSidePride05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This guy must not remember the days that the Sox were conistently the bigger draw in town. If the Sox can manage a few post-season apperances in a row and the Cubs manage to stay under .500 there could be a large shift in popularity... -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) I really dont understand it either. Im usually a wreck when playoffs are involved. I chewed my nails to a stump when the Sox were playing the Indians in the last 3 games of the season, and i was nervous as hell when Game 1 started. But it seems like this strange euphoria has set over me. I havent been worried about what is happening at all. Of course, if the Sox drop one, this is all subject to change. I'm the same way right now. All three games of the ALDS I was a nervous wreck from about noon until the last out.

All this talk about tickets and memorabilia lately
Iwritecode replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) Whoops... I think that's how they got around the law. Ticket holders weren't selling the tickets themselves. The ticket brokers who run the website were selling the tickets for them. (For a small fee of course...) It's actually a pretty good idea and I wish I would have thought of it. Of course I said the same thing about Ebay... -

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) They have auctions... or does "based" mean it has to be the majority of the listings? It just says "Internet auction listing service". Not sure... -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) So technically we wouldn't be able to do that right? Also what are the limits of how much higher you could sell something. It might take some research to see if Soxtalk could do it or not. I was just aware of the law change. I know on Ebay you can get whatever amount people are willing to pay. I don't think there's a limit. -

The actual text of the law There's a lot of legal mumbo-jumbo in there but it looks like the website has to be registered and it may only be limited to auction-style sites... -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) To be honest I have zero knowledge of that. I have never ever heard of it before. If you have a link or something I would like to see it. linky I had seen it in an old Tribune article but of course they are all archived and you have to pay to read them. The only catch is that I don't know if it's only certain websites (like Ebay or stubhub) that are allowed to do it. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) The only hang up would be no tickets could be listed above face value because of ticketscalping laws. Are you sure about that? I know they just recently changed the law that allows people to sell tickets online for above face value. The keyword being "online". -
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Didn't see this posted yet and I usually hate the anti-national media bashing because soxtalk posters appear paranoid beyond recognition but I figured you'd guys would get fired up by this heading into Friday and t'd make you want the win even more. "White Sox fans won't ever be confused with the most knowledgeable fan bases in the game. In the first inning, they cheered wildly on three White Sox routine outs; one to short, a medium fly ball to center and a groundout to second. We can chalk it up, I guess, to overexuberance. Or, more likely, to lack of postseason practice ..." I remember a few balls that were hit up the middle that I thought would get through but didn't. Same thing with a couple of Konerko's shots. Then there was Iguchi's shot that didn't even look like he swung hard...
