  1. My drive home was pretty uneventful. I drove through a few pockets of hard rain but nothing bad enough where my wipers couldn't keep up. The wind affected me a little bit when I started heading due north but I never saw any hail. I didn't even see all that much lightening.
  2. I'm going to be driving right into this.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) You are definitely in the minority. Mine's always connected, really. I just don't think about it. I just can't imagine alienating a portion of your customer base like that, no matter how small it is. That's like a store saying "Sorry, you haven't shopped here in X amount of time so you can't shop here anymore." Sorry, you didn't make any phone calls yesterday so we are shutting off your phone. Just a horrible idea all around.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) Someone did you a favor. It's still selling for about $20 on Ebay. I've never been able to find it at a used game store.
  5. Have they explained the reasoning behind having to constantly be connected online? I might be in the minority but I've never had any of my gaming systems connected to the internet.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) Serious question. Has this EVER happened? When you have kids, yes. Multiple times. I still don't know what the hell happened to my copy of Sub-Zero Mythologies.
  7. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ May 24, 2013 -> 10:39 AM) Apologies if this has already been covered in this thread, but has anyone read the Dark Towers series from Stephen King? Seems like a very large committment and I'd like some thoughts before I dive in. The first book is a bit slow and can be a little disconcerting at first but it’s a pretty short read. There are a few things that you might not pick up on unless you go back and read it again after you've read all the books. It really gears up in the 2nd book when more major characters are introduced and it’s hard to turn back after that point. If at all possible, try not to read any spoilers regarding the ending to the 7th and final book. Many of his other books/stories reference back to this series. A few characters from his other novels pop up in the last book as well. It is a big commitment but well worth it IMHO. Some of the ones that have more obvious connections are IT, Hearts In Atlantis, Insomnia, Everything’s Eventual, The Talisman and it’s sequel Black House.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) The Costner one...more recently, not Bull Durham/Field of Dreams...where he played for Detroit. Can't remember the name, but that one was worse than The Trouble With the Curve IMO. For Love of the Game. Also, wrong thread.
  9. Maybe convince ESPN that there are 28 other teams in the league...
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 31, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) It matters a lot to me and a lot of people who loose teeth over Sox vs. Cubs and have for years. Based on the attendance numbers, you're becoming the minority. Most people seem to be looking at these games as just other game against a non-divisional rival. City-bragging rights are worth about as much as the attendance trophy.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 31, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) That is a bunch of crap. Before interleague play, the Sox-Cubs played some exhibition game for charity during the season and it was packed and the whole city was going crazy for bragging rights. The Sox and Cubs even used their starters for five innings or so. Some families to this day have big-time arguments during holiday parties as my family did on the South Side when I was a kid. My dad, uncle and grandfathers who had different allegiances would scream at each other discussing the two teams and their ballparks. I think the Sox should be ashamed they loafed during the 3-game Cub series and lost all three. The lazy Sox millionaires should be embarrassed. Nice job, players and coaches alike to get their asses kicked by the Cubs 3 days. They are still much less meaningful compared to games against the Tigers, Royals, Indians or Twins. I wouldn't care if they didn't win a single game against the Cubs for the next 5 years if it meant they had a winning record against the AL central in that same time-frame
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2013 -> 10:39 AM) I think part of it is the games are during the week, and the Cubs aren't drawing as well as they used to for any team. Even the Cubs are starting to have problems drawing people to watch awful baseball. Obviously, their definition of a poor crowd is very different from others. Their last three weekday home games were against the Rockies. They drew 35,080, 38,123 & 38,083. Although they were all night games. I think having weekday DAY games with jacked up ticket prices really killed them this year.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2013 -> 12:39 PM) You don't have to play the 1st place team to be buried by the first place team. The Cardinals are 35-18. The Pirates are 34-20. The Reds are 33-21. No team in the AL Central has 30 wins. The Cubs would be in last or second-to-last in any division in MLB. I can't imagine their placement in the standings would cloud anyone's judgement of how good/bad they are.
  14. I did. This series just doesn't mean as much to either side of town as it once did. Sure it's great to have city-bragging rights for a couple of days but then we all have to go back to the reality that we are all watching a couple of 70-85 win teams.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) The baseball week starts on Monday, but you probably knew that. Baseball week?
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:05 PM) well, still haven't had a lead this week. They won on Sunday.
  17. My wife and I were walking our husky one time and walked past a house with a couple of dogs that looked like pit/pit-mix. They were both chained up but as soon as they saw us they started running towards us and snapped their chains without even breaking stride. My wife told me to run but I knew that was the worst thing I could do. I just tried to get between them and our dog because he was about 12 or 13 at the time. Luckily the owners were in the yard and came over right away to corral their dogs. The dogs didn't do anything besides sniff each other but it was pretty scary for a few seconds.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 29, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) Not sure if they went person to person, but they definitely went in and out of lockers, especially with drug dogs. Honestly, I have no problem when they do that as, while this is more invasive, it's also less discriminatory (meaning not discriminatory at all). When I was in Jr high I always heard people talking about it but I never actually saw them do it. In HS the lockers were all condensed into one area right next to our lunch room rather than spread through the halls of the school. So they could've easily searched the lockers there. Again, I heard about it but never saw it.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) Wasn't the consecutive games (taking the lead) at the start of 2006 when the offense was just killing people (including the team that would go on to win the World Series, the Cardinals)? Hmmm, can't remember anymore. No, it was definitely 2005. Michael Clarke Duncan mentions it in the narration of the World Series DVD.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 16, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) I think impregnating at least one of the girls is abuse enough... Wrong case. They were talking about the woman that's accused of murdering her BF.
  21. Ariel Castro to plead not guilty. I understand that he has the right to a fair trail and he's innocent until proven guilty but what is the purpose here? Is he really going to try to convince people that he is innocent? Not to mention the 3 women that will have to testify against him and re-live the horrors of the last 10 years. This quote from one of his lawyers was interesting: From what I've read, this guy is really good at not letting people know what kind of person he really is. His brothers didn't know, his daughter didn't know, his neighbors didn't know...
  22. The kids like the changes even though the parents are outraged. Adults are always screwing things up for kids. This reminds me of the parents that get into fights on the sidelines of their kids sports activities while the kids have no idea what the adults are fighting over.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 15, 2013 -> 01:08 PM) I thought you write code? FAIL I write code on a crappy computer that I can't update.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) http://gizmodo.com/you-can-play-atari-brea...h-and-504867660 Doesn't work on this computer.
