  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 01:07 AM) I'm sorry, but comparing golf to bowling, skillwise, is ridiculous. How so?
  2. Interesting that they were pretty spot on with some things. I'm still waiting for that whole "completely automated" house and the ability to no longer need roads.
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) And certainly don't tell people in interviews and press conferences that you had to be talked into it. Doesn't inspire much confidence. I'm pretty sure I've heard Robin himself say that he DID NOT have to be talked into it.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 02:06 PM) So pretty much every year that the Sox were clearly out of it after 3 months KW traded away some veterans. IIRC, he traded Durham away simply because he thought that he was going to lose him at the end of the season and get nothing back. He thought that upcoming changes to the CBA would eliminate draft-pick compensation. Of course the changes were never made.
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 05:45 AM) Why is it that no other writer has bothered to talk to Frank? With all the ex players hired you would think that Frank would be a hotter topic. No other writers consistently post here?
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) Why wouldn't it be on your lists, though? I mean, even I voted for it despite hating Notre Dame. I left it off my list as well. I basically put my list in order by how likely it would be that I would stop and watch it if I found it on TV while channel surfing. I actually saw it on TV the other day. I watched it for a few minutes and realized it's actually a pretty boring movie.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) What is bowling, then? Golf certainly takes more athletic ability than bowling. I'd say they are about the same as far as athletic ability. They pretty much only require you to be able to walk a little bit and swing your arm(s). Whether or not your actually good at either one depends on skill.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 11:39 AM) IMO The Big Lebowski should not be on this list. Bowling is just a backdrop of the movie, it isnt the focus of the movie. Superman Returns isnt a sports movie just because he saves a plane from crashing into a baseball game. I love the movie, but it does not belong here This. Same thing with Jerry Maguire.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Oh yeah. The original GTA on the original playstation for the win. I've never played any of them before GTA 3.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Can you remember ever hearing a story and thinking how incredibly unlikely it was? JUST GIVE ME SOMETHING TO WORK WITH, PEOPLE! My in-laws have a newspaper that shows the listing of their house when they bought it. On the exact same page there is a listing of my parents' house. We lived there until I was in the 3rd grade.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) If hitting coaches truly matter and I'm not sure they do, then Frank would be perfect. The man's style of hitting is my favorite of all time. He had great great patience at the plate. He hit home runs but he also hit line drives and smashed it to all fields. I would LOVE for him to be Sox hitting coach. He had a really good eye for balls and strikes and he hit with his back foot off the ground. The first thing isn't really something you can teach and the second thing isn't something you probably should teach.
  12. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) Damn, Breaking away didn't even cross my mind. Should have definitely made my list. I've never even heard of that movie.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 01:21 PM) Ah, the Waterboy. That was Sandler's heyday. I know some people hate all of his work, but that earlier stuff was hilarious. It's sad that he's strayed so far away from that. And now I think I forgot to put Happy Gilmore on my list. I forgot all about Happy Gilmore. I remembered The Waterboy but it didn't make my final cut.
  14. The cup is simply twice as large as it needs to be.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 08:49 AM) What's the parade route through Miami gonna be for each of Ozzie's two WS crowns down there?? Probably the same one the Miami Heat used.
  16. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) IIRC Cwsox, beastly, cluer, bmr were all banned; I actually talked to him about a month ago on another message board.
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) If anyone was listening to the SCORE last night at 5:30, there was a guest on that went off on Theo. The call dropped from a bad cell but this was not a caller it was a national guy and he was ripping Theo to shreds. It sounded like a Sox fan. B&B were almost speechless. I heard this as well. From what I could get from it, he was saying that Theo had a ton of help as far as people around him and how much money he could spend and that he's not as smart as everyone thinks he is.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) If there were simply a zero-tolerance rule for "DWH" then there's really no reason not to do so. I've always understood that that is one of the huge obstacles preventing the legalization. The fact that there isn't really a good test that can be administered on the side of the road to check if somebody is driving under the influence like they can do with breathalyzers.
  19. 200 posts and I have yet to figure out WHY KW would need a spy in the clubhouse.
  20. I think I included "Searching for Bobby Fischer" in my list which is a movie about Chess.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) I kind of get that but trust him with what exactly? I have yet to hear an answer for this.
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) Guillen was hired by chairman Reinsdorf. Williams needed a spy. Or Guillen could have just told KW what was going on like he was supposed to.
  23. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) Now it makes sense why Coop wasn't given serious consideration for the manager's job. Kenny didn't have a spy to take his place. I'm not sure I understand this whole "spy" business. Where there things going on in the clubhouse that Ozzie didn't want KW to know or wasn't telling him? Seems like that's a pretty big problem right there.
  24. I submitted my list. I actually surprised myself and came up with more than 25 movies. So I had to pare it down. As I looked at it I realized that over half of them were baseball movies. A lot of comedies as well.
  25. My list is going to be terrible. I'm just starting to realize how many classic sports movies I've never seen.
