Slug-ball is when you sit back and wait for the 3 run homer. That is this team. In 2005, yeah we could mash, but we could also manufacture runs. Every year I can remember before and after 2005, he lived and died by the homer. Not in 2005 though, we won with pitching, defense, timely hitting etc. Thome is none of those things.

Oh no, good forbid someone say anything negative about Jim Thome. The guy was a class act, but the fact of the matter is that we won the division just once in his 4 years here. He was not nearly as clutch are some of you are saying. He struck out all the time and could hardly score from 3rd on triple. Thome can't hit a fastball anymore. He is done. I guess I'm not a "fan" because I didn't like Thome.

Good riddance to both of these guys. Jose, you were great for a year but you have been awful for 3 years. Thome, you are a nice guy, but I never liked you and I'm tired of you strikeouts.

I'd give away Linebrink. Make it happen Kenny!

I'm not so much mad at Nix for getting thrown out at 3rd as I am for him standing at 1st the entire at-bat by Pods. Should have been 3-1, with Pods on first and nobody out after Pods at-bat.

Thome against Chamberlain? Thome can't hit a Buehrle fastball, let alone a Chamberlain one. Maybe he will coax a few walks.

He can be my hitting coach any day. I remember back in his short "prime" he used to be the king of the base hit up the middle...especially in an 0-2 or 1-2 count. The thing that drives me nuts about the Sox is home run swings, but Crede knew how to cut down and protect. It'd be nice if he could teach that to our guys. But, if he does retire, it will be to spend time with his family. Come back to the south side in a few years when you really start missing the game, Joe!
