  1. QUOTE (since56 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) The White Sox said they could not offer Thome many AB, but he signs with the Twins as a pinch hitter? More shady rhetoric from Ozzie and KW? I don't mind letting Thome go but it wasn't because he was sekking more AB as a full time DH. It wasn't that Thome was asking for more at-bats, it was that the Sox claimed Thome would suck (even more) without consistent at-bats.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) Why? They just wasted a roster spot on a bench player who can't even play the field! What an atrocious move by the Twins.
  3. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 06:43 PM) You are not good at understanding baseball. No, you just don't think I'm good at understanding baseball. We'll watch how the season turns out.
  4. QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) You keep talking about Thome playing the field. He's NOT going to play the field. Delmon Young sucks. And all I'm saying is Gardenhire is likely to figure out quickly (if he's not thinking it already) that a lineup with Thome at DH and Kubel in left is going to be a better option. If he keeps Young in left, Kubel at DH, and Thome on the bench, that would be much better... for us. You said that already. And if Young is a hack in left then Kubel is a paraplegic.
  5. YESSSSSSSSSS! The Twins just got worse!
  6. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) But what would that mean for Beckham? Where would he bat? Would he try swing for the fences much more often than he would hitting in the 2 hole? Beckham should be in the 3 hole anyways Pierre LF Damon DH Beckham 2B PK 1B TCQ RF Rios CF AJ C Teahen 3B Ramirez SS (6-9 is whatever you want, Ozzie would definitely split up AJ and Teahen cause he is OCD about that L/R crap)
  7. Pierre-Damon would be a great 1-2 in my opinion. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) I was under the impression that whatever started bothering him in the 2nd half of 2008 (where he was on the DL for a long time) was still bothering him in most of 2009. Linebrink had a few years of dominance in SD but since then: ERA Pre ASG/Post ASG 2006: 2.74/4.64 2007: 2.52/5.23 2008: 2.37/9.72 2009: 1.93/8.49
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) Here's the question...how much more valuable do you think Fukudome would be to this team than Linebrink? Frankly, given that we already have a decent number of backup OF's, I wouldn't include anything in the way of prospects and I'd like a lot of money coming back to cover that huge salary. If he's ever healthy again, Linebrink could be a lot more valuable to us than Fuku. Linebrink has been healthy. The problem is that he wears down. IMO we would DL Linebrink until the all-star break. And btw, no to Fukodome
  9. I'm shocked so many people are saying Rios. I have absolutely no expectations for that guy...I hope he proves me wrong.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) (Some of us may have done that out of sarcasm) That doesn't make sense unless you are making fun of someone else
  11. Lol at this clown. Next time, don't get banned buddy.
  12. That is the 3rd time on this forum in the past 12 hours or so that Nix has been called LH And anyone who thinks we will carry 13 pitchers in out of their frickin mind.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) Games Finished Saves? Or another made up stat?
  14. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) That's how dire things are... Teal (or whatever color you were going for) police...omg my eyes hurt!
  15. JOY TO THE WORLD!!!! I just locked in the White Sox to win it all at 30 to 1! This made my day
  16. What does the GF in Putz's comment section mean?
  17. Konks? Please never use that "nickname" ever again. Also, why is the title "Career/Season Earnings"? This has nothing to do with any season(s), it's strictly career. I would love to see the highest career-to-seasons earnings though, (basically highest average salary over a career).
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) Except this guy is saying "pitching all, HR zero", which is not the same thing. Wow dude, I never said that. But you can look at what I did say a few hours before you replied. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Obviously you need an offense people, come on.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) Because a lot of guys reverted to their career norms or worse, and they felt the burden of pitching deep into the season the previous year. The 2005 White Sox have 4 starters with a season ERA under 4. The 2006 White Sox DIDN'T have ONE starter with an ERA under 4. The big 4 from the previous season returned, and they brought in Javier Vazquez to be the 5th starter (and he was an adequate 5th starter, even if more was expected from him). They didn't neglect the pitching staff. Again, this is my argument. They didn't win because the pitching staff was garbage. Are you on my side?
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) Home run and OPS numbers of the past 10 World Series champions 2000 Yankees - 205, .804 2001 Diamondbacks - 208, .783 2002 Angels - 152, .773 2003 Marlins - 157, .754 2004 Red Sox - 222, .832 2005 White Sox - 200, .747 2006 Cardinals - 184, .769 2007 Red Sox - 166, .806 2008 Phillies - 214, .770 2009 Yankees - 244, .839 Teams who sign these "big boppers" win World Series titles. The team average for home runs in a season was 195, the average OPS was .788, only 4 teams in the past 10 years hit fewer than 200 homers (and 184 isn't bad), and only 2 had a team OPS below .769. The White Sox actually had the worst offense of any team to win the World Series in the last 10 years, and not only did they have one of the best pitching staffs within the team's past 25 years, they also had one of the most impressive postseason pitching performances in recent postseason history. They are also one of only like 2 teams to ever go 11-1 in the postseason too. I think you can take your straw man argument somewhere else. Are you making the case for me or you?? That pretty much sums up everything I've said.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) Newsflash - the 2005 Sox won on the back of 200 home runs, among the league leaders in that category. The White Sox won the world series because of incredible pitching which included a ridiculous 2.55 ERA in the postseason. They Sox then hit 236 homers in '06. 36 more than when they won it all. They must have won it all again right? They didn't? What was different? Oh yeah, their pitching SUCKED!
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) Yeah, OK. Maybe the Sox should resign Darin Erstad and Timo Perez too because they won a World Series. And s***, I'd probably be better than Thome too because I'm 16 years younger than him. I'd be twice the player he is. You are proving my point buddy. Teams who sign these "big boppers" and neglect the pitching staff don't win squat.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) You are proving your ignorance and raw lack of knowledge in regards to baseball. You're right. Forgetting McGwire was on the A's 20 years ago shows how little I know.
  24. Obviously you need an offense people, come on.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Mark McGwire won a world series in 1989. Jim Thome's 1997 Indians team was 3 outs away from winning the Series until Joe Table blew it Barry Bonds's 2002 Giants team had a 5-0 lead, 8 outs away from winning the Series Were Thome & Bonds HR tendencies the reason why their teams bullpens blew their games????? I stand corrected on McGwire. For some reason I just named the steroid clowns. But thank you for making my point for me in regards to pitching winning championships.
