What is Pierre's #1 asset? Base stealing. What is Beckham's #1 asset? Hitting. So why the f*** is Beckham bunting Pierre to 2nd?! f*** YOU OZZIE!!!!! -
Who will be the last Sox starter to get a hit?
PeavyTime replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kotsay cause he won't be playing again until Saturday at best (or worst, depending on whether you like him or not). -

QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) Just found out i dont get it either...used to have but Comcast decided to be stupid If you have CSN, then don't you have to have a CSN+? I'm pretty sure that's the way it works. Check out this website for channel number: http://www.csnchicago.com/pages/zipcode -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Can I just say how proud I am of being on a Sox message board, that allows debate, and doesn't resort to screaming, "OZZIE PLAYED MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL!!! YOU HAVEN'T!!! YOU CAN'T QUESTION HIM!!!" when the legitimacy of a managerial move is called into question? This board is great, and one of the best things that ever could have happened for my White Sox fandom. You sound like you had the same problems as me over in Nazi-world aka Wissy aka Flying%$#@ -

Jones @ 5 and Rios @ 7? Whatever, at least it isn't Kotsay. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 11:27 PM) I don't understand this either. I hear it all the time. "Ozzie is a bad in-game manager." Is he spiritual or something? What don't you understand about the term? As a manager, you must make decisions during the game (in game) and deal with things while before and after the game. He can't handle a bullpen for s***. His use of pinch hitters is a joke. I'm so sick of his lefty/righty BS. That's all classified as "in game." He cannot make a lineup to save his life. On the other hand, Ozzie is great at managing while there is no game going on. He is exceptional at dealing with the media and keeping the pressure of his players. He is a straight shooter when it comes to the game and his players. He is very good at motivating his players and getting the best out of them.

April 7th Game Thread vs Cleveland

If Kotsay isn't riding the pine tomorrow, I'm going to walk down next to the dugout and curse Ozzie out for being the most stupid SOB on the planet. -
Kotsay is a great bench player, but the starting DH in the 5 hole? Are you f***ing kidding me? This lineup is a total joke. I love Ozzie, but as an in-game (who should bat, who should pitch, hit and run etc) manager, he sucks bad.

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) Do we have an update (for us out of towners) on any weather ? It's raining right now, but this game should get in. I'd say it starts at 8:30. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) in his 5th AB he shattered his bat to the handle, but got a hit. So they rewarded him with .71 percent of a hit Hmmmmm...3.71/8 doesn't equal .429 either -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) In 8 lifetime AB's Kotsay is batting .429 against Carmona. Jones is 0-3 with 2 K's. These are alarmingly small sample sizes, but large enough to justify not playing Jones here. He still shouldn't be hitting 5th. How do you bat .429 in 8 at-bats? Kotsay should be on the bench, or at least batting no higher than 7th. I don't have any problem with the guy, I'm just pissed he was put into this position. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 06:59 AM) All I know is his success rate when entering with a 1 run lead last year was 50%. He had a bunch of lay up saves. Bobby had a bad year last year. +1 All these ridiculous stats are meaningless

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/36728:20# yeah, but at least weather.com has it down to a 30% chance of rain by game time. Hopefully if they do cancel it they cancel it early so people don't truck down there and pop for the $23 of parking At least that gets refunded... -
I was listening to M&H this morning and a caller mentioned how Z would be the 5th starter if he were on the White Sox. That really got me thinking...what does everyone else think?

Since when does your best pitcher have to start on Opening Day? Peavy even said himself, this is Mark's staff and Buehrle should be on the bump Opening Day.

A comparison of the Twins' and White Sox best offensive combinatio

Don't we only have a 24 man roster right now? Kenny will add a DH, whether it be Damon or someone else. It's still January!! -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) http://www.baseballmusings.com/cgi-bin/Lin...362&Model=1 With Punto (322 OBP/324 SLG) substituted for Thome, it knocks the Twins down to 900 runs scored (a difference of 39 runs per year having Thome over Nick Punto as DH, haha). Factoring in that we can't really expect Konerko to hit his career averages, it knocks the White Sox down to 800 runs scored. Which means we only need to pitch at 0.617 ERA below the Twins. Perhap the most interesting result (not to many) is that Gordon Beckham is the leadoff hitter in every scenario and Juan Pierre's the #9 hitter. Not that we'll ever see that happen. Yawn -
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) Yeah, 7 years ago. Last year he hit .234, had an OBP of .277 and K'd 108 times in 462 at bats. I guess that means he'd platoon well at DH with Jones. Then what happens to Kotsay?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) Give Delmon Young a day (or week) off in the outfield and you can have a lineup that goes: Span, cf; Mauer, c; Morneau, 1b; Thome, dh; Cuddyer, rf; Kubel, lf; Hardy, ss; Harris, 3b; Punto, 2b. I'll start that one against Zack Greinke or Justin Verlander five times a year. I wonder if this reporter realizes that Thome can hardly touch a Buehrle fastball anymore, let alone one from Grienke or Verlander.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 12:07 AM) why indeed I am, sir. It only adds to the excitement of a new stadium, the team adding some serious pop to the lineup. Or did I miss the point and you're saying that Thome's not a big name? Hahahaha this is comical. New stadiums sell tickets. You don't have to add a old, breaking down, once-a-week DH to sell more tickets.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 11:47 PM) Smart move by the twinkies - big name to boost the opening of a new stadium. Time to root against Thome again. Man...it's been awhile! Dude are you serious with this line?
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) Thome as a full time DH isnt the answer for this team. He showed signs of breaking down last year and the organization knows that. For the first time in years he put up a sub .800 OPS in the second half of the season and is almsot 40 years old with a bad back and high maintenance swing. I have a new favorite poster. This guy is right on the nose with his analysis of this move (or lack there of).
