QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 11, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) Yeah, it's awful. The ESPN3 stream isn't even in hi def. My best friend is in town and they won't let him in without an ID, even though we have a ticket. -
Jeremy Lin makes me think of CJ Watson.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 12:55 PM) It's not the Greg bashing that makes me like that post (I'm generally pro-Greg as well), it's the impassioned breakdown. Ah, I think those are my forte on this site. The impassioned, systematic breakdown.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) Since 2008, when Buddy Bell came in and Doug Laumann took over amateur scouting, the players selected by the White Sox in the amateur draft have contributed more in at the MLB level than any other team. Unfortunately, one guy who is the main reason for that accolade is pitching for a different club now. With the Sox drafting players who are more advanced and pushing them through the minors, you get a lowly ranked farm system but production from young players on the big league team at the same time. Got numbers? But fascinating if true. -
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 09:38 AM) This is much more in line with POTY in my opinion. No, because I actually like Greg. I disagreed with him in the past on stuff, but his side was reasonable. Now he's a caricature of himself since Ozzie's firing.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 06:28 AM) $900,000,000,000,000 is roughly 15,000 times the net worth of Bill Gates and 60 times the entire GDP of the United States. So you're saying it's a little unreasonable?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 10:30 PM) Is there a way to figure out how many bunt singles Babe Ruth had in his career? I had a guy ask me, and I have no idea how I'd find that. 1) Elias Sports Bureau would probably find that s***, because they work with the devil. 2) It's probably 0, seeing as Ruth would be burned at the stake for witchcraft if he ever accomplished one.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 05:50 AM) Don't forget the wisdom of the Kotsay/Jones over Thome bull-headed DH move that 50% cost us the ALCD crown in 2010. This s*** as well. Christ how did I forget that monstrosity.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 02:23 AM) Yeah. But the Peavy deal was really bad timing. The guy was on the DL at the time. Geez. That was dumb. And Dunn. Don't baseball teams do their homework? Obviously the guy was a weight risk and not intent on proving himself in the AL. That leaves Rios. He was known throughout baseball as a dog. And still we acquire him. Bad bad bad. And KW gets a pass?? Peavy was on the DL for getting hurt running the bases. I guess he does that often in the AL? Dunn? Most consistent player in baseball until last year. I guess PK was done in '08 because he was slow and aging. Rios was a 2 time all-star and one of the next big things having an average year. We should have dumped AJ a long time ago I guess.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) 2.) I love that post. Post of the new year. A lot of Sox fans were against the Dunn signing. My dad was furious. Oh for Christ. f***ing. Sakes. No, it's a f***ing stupid hindsight post. Almost everyone in Soxdom LOVED the Dunn signing aside from your father, Whitesoxrandy, and my brother (who was for the E-Jax trade because "Prospects never do anything!"). If by "a lot" you mean ".5% of all Sox fans" then sure, maybe that number comes out to more than 10. That might be considered a lot to someone from Kansas. But stop lauding every damn post that agrees with you as "post of the year." I get that they're more rare then a blue moon or J4L being sober, but just because they spew the same ideology as you does not make them good posts. I f***ing teared up and was sad as hell when Mark when to go join the Oz Show. He was my idol when I would play baseball. I didn't pitch, but I knew he made it because of hardwork so he was my inspiration. Each game I wore a Mark Buehrle #56 shirt underneath my jersey and it's so tattered now that I probably couldn't wear it even if he was still here. And if 3 bad moves are enough to can Kenny, how many would it f***ing take to can Ozzie? Is he also like a Tootsie Pop where the world may never know? Was it playing Rios? Pinch hitting Dunn against lefties? Leaving in Humber or Peavy? Frasor? Benching Morel for performing? Dicking around players in the lineup? Falling in love with mediocre s*** like Randy Williams, DeWayne Wise, and Jerry Owens? Explain those to me Greg. He made the f***ing lineups and no one man is more responsible for this team not making the playoffs in recent years or stunting the growth of players like Morel. Kenny, Dunn, Rios, Peavy, JR, Coop, none of them did as much damage as this one greedy, selfish asshole who had to make them the "Chicago Ozzies" and made bad moves because he was either being spiteful or he was just a terrible f***ing manager.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 02:25 AM) Exactly. It's funny the way Sox fans think the Tigers will regret these signings someday. Though Fielder should have picked a home run haven not a place hard to hit bombs like Detroit. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) And how long are they allowed to not make a postseason run after this year or next then for it to still have been worth it? -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 08:13 PM) What s***: http://m.espn.go.com/nba/story?storyId=7559982 And rondo over dwill are you crazy? He's been lights out the last few weeks, on a team with Humphries as his best player Seeing as the NBA takes team record into account and is the reason why Monroe isn't an All-Star and JJ is, D-Will shouldn't be an All-star when his team is that bad and he's the floor general. Kevin Love last is an exception, as he was an injury replacement and was having historic numbers.
-
Congrats to Luol. Couldn't stand him before last year, but Thibs changed him. Rondo deserved in over Deron though. And Dirk shouldn't be out west. And if Noah wasn't injured last year, we'd have 5 current or former All-Stars in the lineup. And why is Joe Johnson getting a lifetime achievement spot?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) The fact that Beckham is the second-best 2B in the division is STAGGERING. Fantastic D? But I agree, that's amazing. But also, these rankings mean s***.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) Anyone play Uncharted 3 yet? I got it as a rental. Looking forward to it. I loved it as I LOVE Naughty Dog. That being said, 2 was 1000 times better. The graphics are better in 3 and so are the physics, but what it lacked was an "oh s*** I'm f***ed I'm f***ed I'm f***ed" moment, akin to the Train Yard or Shambala in Uncharted 2. Or the Tank. Or the Catacombs from 1. That being said, it could be because I've played all the games and thus know what to do, but there was nothing that made me go "WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?!" and it saddened me as that's what I love about Naughty Dog games. You get to a point where there's no hope...and find a way.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) Nope. Are they from the game, or is that some real child cartoon that someone made a fake episode for and incorporated Skyrim. But whoever made that is a really good job w/ those drawings/graphics. Ah In the game the player is the Dovahkiin, or Dragonborn. This was a spoof that made them the Dovahkids, like a Saturday morning cartoon.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) He doesn't have the Marlins 29th. That would be the Indians. And most publications that had both Marinez and Martinez in the Marlins top 10, were from before last season. 2012 rankings would have dropped them significantly after both had down seasons, even if they remained with the Marlins. Either way, going by Sickels at the moment looking at "B" prospects: Marlins Yelich: B+ Ozuna: B Fernandez: B Realmuto: B- Dominguez: B- Rasmussen: B- James: B- Conley: B- White Sox Reed: B+ Molina B+ That's it. Both teams have 8 C+ prospects. Comparisons show that it isn't even close. Comparing BP's prospects rankings of both teams is just as damning. Ok, that makes a lot more sense. Thank you. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) Who the hell are the "Dova kids"?? I'm guessing you haven't played Skyrim?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) Keith Law doesn't like our minor league system. While I am w/ the people who think he has irrational hate towards the Sox, it's hard to say this has any relation to that. He writes.... How are we not close to the Marlins? -

Reasons DGB is in Missouri 1) His home state. And some people on campus said his mother had cancer, which makes everything very easy to comprehend. I hope that's not the case. 2) A passing offense with an explosive RB to take pressure off of him. 3) He, the HS All Time Receiving Yards Leader, joins Maty Mauk, the HS All Time Passing Yards Leader 4) He's a 3 star basketball recruit for us as well. Without size outside of Bowers, he could probably get a spot next year. 5) Gary Pinkel visited him, in a damn helicopter. 6) At both of his visits (Football and Basketball) the student sections had shirts that said MIZ-DGB, chanted MIZ-DGB, and roared with cheering whenever he did anything. 7) SEC move. 8) Reportedly Arkansas' biggest selling point was it is his brothers favorite school.
