  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 12:59 AM) I LOVE the dunk on Weis because he went up and over, but it was an international game against France. The dunk on Zo was awesome, but VC kinda went in sideways and pushed him out of the way. Still incredible. Yeah, but over a 7 footer with that extension, leaping, and viciousness.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 12:57 AM) I'd say Blake's dunk is up there. I'd take Pippen over Ewing and Kemp over Lister though as far as dunking on somebody. Not VC over Alonzo or Weis?
  3. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 12:40 AM) Apparently so, since most of those dunks were from the 90's, it just seems like a very stuck up mindset. There has been plenty of amazing dunks since then. I don't see anything special in that barkley dunk, since he didn't even dunk on anyone. The Kemp and Dr J dunk might have an argument. But I really think the Jordan dunk is more of a historically symbolism dunk (Jordan over Ewing), and a honor for him being the GOAT. Take out the names in that play, and there were quite a few facial dunks like that just from the past decade. But I haven't never seen a more powerful and athletic dunk, ever, like the dunk tonight. Not only did he dunk on Perkins, he took off from a long distance, jumped so high his head was above the rim, and his arm was fully extended, and threw down a thunderous dunk. the contortion of o his legs just made it more aesthetically pleasing. If you don't think this dunk can touch any of those dunk, you need to stop living in another era. My bad, need to clarify. The two no dunk will ever touch are VC over Alonzo or Weis.
  4. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 12:02 AM) I think that might be the best in game dunk of all time, even tops the Jordan over Ewing dunk, which is popularly recognized with the honor I disagree. I'll take: Barkley coast-to-coast Kemp over Liston Nique backwards two handed slam Pippen over Ewing Jordan over Ewing Dr. J rock the baby. And especially VC over Weis or Alonzo. No dunks will ever touch those.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) 0 3's for Rose thus far. I love it. He's mad.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) No the argument is whether the Magic are smarter to amnesty Hedo or trade Hedo and potentially get back less talent but free up space without using amnesty. Except they used that amnesty on Arenas...
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) Mourning was hurt basically every year he played with Hardaway. But lets look, the per for both was 45 at their peak. The per for Rose + Howard is 50. And for further comparison, Shaq/Kobe was 55. Rose/Howard could be a combination for the ages. Mourning is the closest comparison to Dwight out there. Dwight is not Shaq.
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Howard is a f***ing doofus. Why didn't he say this before? Like 2 months ago? Cause Dwight Howard is a b****. (Which my loathing of Howard and love of Noah obviously makes me biased. That being said, Dwight >>>>> Noah in talent, but I don't feel like the Magic are in a spot to make us give up a lot more).
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) I dont think Malone and Howard are very comparable, Howard is a top Center, Malone is a top PF. The combination of top PF and top Guard has not been as successful as the guard/center combo. Yeah, but Dwight isn't even close to the level of the previous centers in any of those combos, but if I need another example. Tim Hardaway and Alonzo Mourning. Both we're better than any PG or C that Jordan/Pippen had and that's what we'd become, the 90's Heat
  10. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) Id imagine Hedo is amnestied the next season if he was a part of the trade. Honestly I think if it was available they'd do everything in their power to get Howard, minus trading Rose. Can't amnesty traded contracts.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 02:01 PM) Wait what? I never said Howard was better than Malone, I said Malone didnt play Center, which is true. That being said, Howard has put up similar per as Malone through age 26. For perspective here is the 36 minute pers: Malone: 24/10/1 (points, rebounds, blocks) Howard: 18/13/3 Not that it matters, the point was Malone plays PF not C, so Howard and Malone arent really similar comparisons in how the game is played. Malone couldnt lock down Centers. You said Top 3 at their positions, so I posted the most comparable thing in recent memory. Only reason Shaq - Kobe/Wade isn't it is because Shaq is a universe better than Dwight.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) And hating on Cleveland. I don't know if Dwight is a better help defender. Dwight is by far the better man, post, and anchor defensively, but I might give help D to Noah.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:52 PM) Howard would change the entire complexion of the Heat match up. The Heat have no one who can match Howard. Lebron couldnt guard Rose because theyd need Lebron helping on Howard in the paint. Malone/Stockton is slightly different, Malone was a beast, but he wasnt Howard. Its more like if you had Shaq/Kobe, Shaq/Wade, you know dominant Center and dominant Guard combos. In no world is Howard > Malone. Karl Malone is not only a world better offensively, he was still very good on D and could rebound. And the centers Malone had to go up against are worlds better than Dwight.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Joel Anthony and Eddy Curry. I repeat. Joel Anthony and Eddy Curry. Dwight would go for 30/15 easily. Noah rotates on to LeBron and Wade really, really well.
  15. Also, Dwight rags on his team and goofs around. He could actually be a clubhouse cancer. LeBron and Melo never did that s***. Basically, I'm saying I want to get the talent, but I'm not going to bid against myself considering all things.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Does Noah's salary count completely under the new CBA or is it still 1/2 of his total salary like it was under the last CBA? The Wikipedia entry was unclear. As far as I know after he signed it it was a Poison Pill Contract, so not worth it's value. Now, I'm not sure. But fine then, $6M from Noah, $5M from Korver, $3M from Brewer. That's within 150% of Dwight's $18M.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) Howard and Rose are under 26 and top 3 at their position. Its a little different than Melo, Amare and Chandler. Fine then. Stockton/Malone. Top 3 at their positions all time, Jordan or not they only made 2 Finals.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) Its not about values its going to be matching contracts. So you may have to trade Deng just to make it work, obviously you hope they take Boooooooozer but youd have to hope the Magic GM had a mild stroke to accept that. Noah + Kover get's it done after March 1st.
  19. But again, I just wanna point out there is no reason for to bid against ourselves when the Magic have no leverage. The Knicks did that and are now terrible. I guarantee someone would have said "Melo, Amare, and Chandler is a fifty win team." And no, that's not a shot at J4L, but the general masses who though that.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) have you looked at Dwights rebounding numbers? Ever? Noah and Dengs rebounds are pretty much mitigated Dwight isn't pulling down more than 15 rebounds. Throw in the fact that he's never had rebounders like Boozer and Taj with him, they'll take a hit. Noah, now that he seems to be back to high-energy Noah, can pull down 12. Deng can pull down 8, more likely 6. At best it would be a lateral move in rebounds. Deng spaces the floor like Brewer can't and Noah can hit FTs. Dwight isn't improving our offense with highlight dunks if we lose Deng (obviously if it's just Noah, he does). So if we include Deng/Noah then at best our defense goes from damn good to slightly more damn good and our offense is about the same or worse since Boozer isn't a stretch four like Dwight is used to playing with. Then we mortgage the future by throwing out Mirotic and the Bobcats pick? Then let's consider the Magic's best leverage is MarShon Brooks and Brook Lopez. I'm sorry, but Noah alone > those two.
  21. Reasons why if it's more than Noah + firsts, it's bad. Noah + Deng: We could at best lose around 20 rebounds here, at worst something like 15. Brewer is not as good a rebounder as Deng. Mirotic + Bobcats Pick: Those will be the next guys to step in and help Rose when Boozer and Rip are gone and Deng/Noah have aged.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Thered really be no need to go conservative, the biggest piece that would be given up is Noah and Howard replaces him. Any other players you can find a replacement for and 3-4 Jimmy Butlers doesnt mean a thing (ie the type of talent thats available in the late 1st round). Yeah, but Noah, Deng, Mirotic, and the Bobcats pick both weakens us now and mortgages the future.
