  1. If Machado has "only hit" for two years, I'd really like to see what an average player is. He's hit well every year since he was 20. Even last year's down year saw great power numbers. Then throw in his defense.
  2. If the Sox don't think they have the best offer, that makes me feel better because they know if they put down one of their big chips, it is the top offer.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:23 AM) Orioles are still talking to teams about machado but sources say there’s no expectation/belief MM/agent would grant negotiating window for acquiring team at present. So would be 1 year player. Heyman Keep away from Gio!
  4. Kopech or Giolito is insanity. Pure insanity. Even with an extension. Kopech, Giolito, Hansen, Rodon all need to be off the table. Lopez as well likely. Cease and Dunning, sure, with an extension in place. But Kopech is a damn near fireable offense.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 07:52 PM) There obviously is a tier you could trade for him Saladino straight up
  6. I imagine if the Sox want him bad enough, he's theirs.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) Agreed^ Some of these packages are way too much for a player with one year of control remaining, even in light of a possible extension. Players like Dunning and Cease have very real trade value, and guys like Fulmer/Anderson/Sheets should not be seen as players we can easily cast away. Like I said, it'd be my absolute max offer. Wouldn't be comfortable with it, but if Hahn though Machado was the lynchpin to getting a ring, I could stomach it.
  8. Even with extension, highest I would go would be... Anderson, Fulmer, Cease and Sheets. Based on Stanton's return I'd probably end up actually offering Avi, Fulmer, Dunning if we could convince Machado to man third. He's coming with a massive literal price tag.
  9. With a whopping 1 percent in, Jones leads 321 to 103. Shiiiit. In a normal off-off-year election, that might be the entirety of ballots cast.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 06:40 PM) I mean, if you actually are signing Machado to an extension you get rid of Fulmer and Dunning in a heart beat. Anderson is the only would I'd be shaky about moving. Agreed. I think I'd end up being fine with Tim being part if we're truly sold on Yolmer/Burger at third.
  11. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 05:32 PM) Not really news or anything but Austin Jackson is doing an AMA on r/baseball and had this to say about his time with the 2016 Sox. Someone asked him about the clubhouse's reaction to the Sale jersey cutting. "I absolutely loved my time in Chicago. One of the best organizations I've played with. Enjoyed the clubhouse, the team was a really close-knit team. As far as the Sale incident - I actually wasn't there for that, I had surgery for a torn MCL. But when I went back, everybody seemed to be laughing about it. I don't think anybody took it to heart." https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/...winter/dr5iizy/ Man, that team was really fun for a month.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 05:22 PM) https://twitter.com/theleadcnn/status/940704581742419969 Alabama education ftw Time to follow European soccer and make Puerto Rico a state, make Alabama a territory.
  13. And because we're living in a poorly written political thriller... http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2017/12/i...court_rule.html Alabama's Secretary of State, who believes you have to earn the right to vote, got an injunction filed so that he can destroy voting records from tonight. He also went to Russia last year to observe their elections and had glowing reviews. Somehow, that is not an Onion article.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 09:01 AM) Still waiting on Fox and Trump to give one single retraction for intentionally sending out lies. Don't forget the Trump- backed Project Veritas!
  15. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/hea...m=.000c3c19141f Bear Ears was shrunk partially because of the uranium lobbyists. I'm shocked.
  16. Jenks, Thornton, Kahnle, Santos, Reed off the top of my head for some reasons.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 05:32 PM) It's mind-boggling that after seeing something like this, there are so many people out there nitpicking the victim and what he should or shouldn't have done. This is a straight-up murder by a spineless piece of s*** cop. I look forward to apologists digging up dirt on the victim where maybe he stole a pack of cigarettes as a teen, telling us he was no angel. He might've smoked weed once or consensually sexted.
  18. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 03:43 PM) Journalists are supposed to publish people's social security numbers without their consent? I guess we'll overlook stuff like the Panama Papers.
  19. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) So they go sign all the Braves guys. Net win? Big ones signed already. Maitan with angels.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) The Mariners front office must be getting drunk right now. Six players traded for cap.
  21. Max I'd offer up for Machado would be like...Dunning, Sheets and Basabe. That's with him signing an extension. No way am I giving up a big package for someone about to cost $300M+
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) Ive never been to Jerusalem but Tel Aviv is awesome. Been to both. Jerusalem is awesome from a historical perspective, but Tel Aviv is basically a Miami in the Mediterranean.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) So what happens if Mueller is fired? Does anyone really know? Does this all go away? There's already contingency protests planned around the country. Hypothetically, Congress could reappoint him, but that requires the GOP to have a spine. Trump would also have to conduct his own Saturday Night Massacre through the DOJ and Senate GOP members are loyal to Sessions.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2017 -> 05:40 PM) At the highest levels the National Republican Senatorial Committee has refused support. There are other scattered individuals who have also said no. Sadly, the RNC pledged theirs. So Flake, Sasse, and Romney are in the clear.
