  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/pitching/_/so...qualified/false Check out the -0.8 WAR line (bottom 40 pitchers in the majors, qualified and unqualfied). You'll find Matt Albers, along with the likes of Buchholz and Andrew Cashner, for example. Erik Johnson at -0.9. Shelby Miller at -1.2 (worst trade in years). Ubaldo Jimenez at -1.6. Tolleson, deposed Rangers' closer, at -1.0. Eric Surkamp and James Shields both at -0.4. Man, that Shelby Miller has a chance to be one of the worst trades ever.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) The Univ of Iowa pitcher from the CPL that had TJ? Mike Hickman, this year's draft pick who was also taken last year but didn't sign.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) My requisite post Ok, this was fair. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) Thanks for your input. We had no idea how you felt on the matter.
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) According to fangraphs Quintana has the second highest WAR for pitchers in the AL at 3.1. So theoretically he is the second best pitcher in the AL by this measure. Here is the conceptual problem I have with WAR. Supposedly, WAR is Wins Above Replacement where the replacement is any guy from AAA. Let's use a decent pitcher like Scott Carroll. This stat tells me that the White Sox will only have 3 more win from the contributions of Quintana as opposed to Carroll. Common sense wise that just doesn't make sense between a AAA pitcher and the second best pitcher in the AL. Until just recently, Q was #1 with Kluber being #2 (not disagreeing with the rest BTW, I think they need a new acronym for it so it's not taken as literally. Make it more akin to PER in the NBA where it boils down to higher number = better)
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) I wondered the same thing. He'd be on two days rest. Seems to me he may not even be "sub" option, which sucks. Davis still has to be replaced. Unfortunately none of they other starters are slated to pitch on Sunday. Which makes it even dumber that he wasn't named.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) Oh hello, you must be new to the Buster.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) Yeah, this draft is looking pretty good. I know everyone is high on our first three picks, but I really like what I'm seeing from Call & Fisher. These guys are both having strong offensive seasons in rookie ball and I believe they rank 1st & 2nd in the Pioneer League in terms of drawing walks. Throw in Curbelo and a few other interesting players and there's a lot to like from this draft class. A lot of us are high on the first five picks, Curbelo, and Hickman.
  8. Hey everyone, I know emotions are a bit tense, but let's try and keep it civil in here.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) Before the draft (and these lists, I think, don't include the draftees), with Anderson no longer eligible, the system is pretty rough. Not hopeless - seeing a nice spike from some key LatAm names for example. The new draft is huge. There will probably 4 2016 draftees among the top 10 in the Sox system on our upcoming Midseason list, though that could go up or down by one. Also yeah, this. The latest draft is a huge shot in the arm for the system.
  10. If Anderson were still there and Rodon were on a standard track, they'd both be high up.

Basically everyone here agreed the Bonifacio was a quality signing at the time.
  12. Protest was peaceful. Police officers and protesters had been taking photos together. It was calm and friendly.
  13. From NBC/Dallas PD Scanner Suspect confined. AR-15 used. One officer shot in the arm. No word on the other.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) But Alex Rios has a WS ring. You've hero worshipped him plenty. Don't you want another one? Wait, because Rios was part of a WS winner, we should have gotten better value for him than Leury Garcia, according to GreenSox. So therefore we have to trade more than Leury Garcia for CarGo.
  15. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) ooh this gon' be good
