Has trayce won CF?
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) I don't like the idea of Eaton in left. This team is power-starved enough as it is. They really need a slugger in LF. Trayce has 20+ HR power and Eaton hit 14 this year. They'd be fine.

2015 Wild Card Games
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:02 PM) This is why people hate Cub fans. The Cubs can't just win and be happy. For some stupid reason the entire world has to be happy for them. I wasn't happy when the Twins won. I wasn't happy when the Tigers made the World Series, why on God's green earth would I be happy that the Cubs won? Seriously, f*** the Cubs and their fans. +1 QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) If I didn't just move to wrigleyville, I would be more against them winning. I'm indifferent now, if not slightly rooting for them. I want to be in the heart of the party if they win. It will be absolutely wild. I'm assuming I'll be able to find some overjoyed cubs broad to bang. I'm predicting the panties will be awfully wet in wrigleyville the night they win it, if they do. Well then.

My/Your Off Season Plan
Kershaw is the only once in a lifetime pitcher at the moment. That's ok.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 04:31 PM) Heyward literally helps this team in the categories that the Sox are weak on as you mentioned above. He makes the most sense this offseason, it's just a matter if JR is willing to open the checkbook a little more and get Heyward signed, along with eating LaRoche's last year or moving him to the "veteran bench role" type of player. Jerry pretty much has to be in "absolute win now mode" for him to greenlight those moves.
-
My/Your Off Season Plan
Reasons Heyward makes sense: Buying his prime years. Elite defensively. Gets on base. Highly marketable. Left handed bat. Could be a 20-20 guy. The problem: You're going to have to cut your losses on LaRoche and move Melky to DH. So Heyward will be SUPER expensive. But damnit, the OF D is fun to picture.

Mark Buehrle to retire?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:47 PM) This is a no brainer. Sign Mark Buehrle. One year and an option at 5.5 mill a year. What the f***???

Mark Buehrle to retire?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) This proves that Jamie Moyer was the last of the guys able to pitch forever, as well as LaTroy Hawkins. I mean Mark has never been on DL, has that smooth motion and is done at 36? Poor pitchers. Their arms just can't take the stress. 36 is not old compared to some of the dudes of the past. Yeah, it's a shame he couldn't pitch as long as someone like Ted Lyons. But who cares about the past? Anyway, Mark is the active leader for IP at 3283.1 IP, 95th all time. Still really damn good. And Hawkins is a reliever.

Hawk only doing road games
Give me a trained sportscaster, not another former player who can't call games worth a damn.

White Sox lowest rated TV Regional viewership in MLB.. 2015
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:48 PM) How many years before they relocate? "Speaking of room to grow, the White Sox were the lowest-rated team in baseball with a 0.82 average TV rating. Their 29 percent decrease from last season was the fifth-worst in baseball. The Sox (76-86) fired their bench coach Mark Parent before the final series of the season in an attempt to shake things up." I doubt it happens. You don't just up and move an original American League team that has over 115 years of history in city.

Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) I wish people would get Heyward out of their minds now, instead of building it up as a real possibility. Right, though it is fun to think about a defensive OF of Eaton-Thompson-Heyward. Death to fly balls.

Has trayce won CF?
Do they have the option of Avi in AAA?

Hawk only doing road games
That's...weird.

Mark Buehrle to retire?
QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) Ventura and Fisk are probably starters on the all-time team, so... Also, you really don't think Wood deserves to be in the same conversation as Buehrle? I'd love to read your analysis. So is Baines. And Frank and Paulie. It just so happens they had great pitchers throughout team history

Mark Buehrle to retire?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) I'll say this about Sox fans. They never forget those old-time pitchers. Those old time pitchers always are thought of better than guys like Buehrle, etc. Wilbur Wood was not better than Buehrle, BTW. Of course Sale has better stuff. Let's see if he has longevity. As far as Walsh, cicotte, Pierce, Faber, Lyons ... who gives a f***? Those guys are ancient! Let's talk about modern history. Buehrle was GREAT in the modern era. p.s. If that was Buehrle's last time on the mound, how ugly. All the runs were unearned but that grand slam was tattooed and so were some hard hit singles and doubles. I don't know why he wants to quit at 36 unless it's totally health related. If his arm is killing him I guess I can't blame him. Otherwise, we could trade Q for a ton of hitting talent and bring in Mark for 4-6 million one year deal with an option. s***, even if Buehrle's arm is falling off, he'd be better than Zach Duke for gosh sakes. Those guys gave a lot to the organization, that's why people give a f***. In 20 years do you want people asking who gives a s*** about Buehrle? Pierce and Wood were in the modern era. JFC. Greg, if you had your way we wouldn't retire Mark's number because WHO GIVES A f*** IN A FEW YEARS? AMIRITE?

Mark Buehrle to retire?
Buehrle pretty much breaks traditional stats with his defense, speed and ability to control the running game. Sale's ERA this year didn't match his value - it's the same with Mark.

Mark Buehrle to retire?
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) I disagree... but I do think they'll sign him to one of those ceremonial one day contracts. He definitely is. Sabermetrics agree, his longevity and his production.

Mark Buehrle to retire?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:22 AM) This story is so weird. Buehrle has had a decent season and isn't getting lit up every outing. He rules the Royals still. I wonder if we're going to hear he's in so much pain. I mean doesn't he have a few more years on his contract, too? He's not that old, either. That's crazy he must be hurt beyond belief to not pitch in the playoffs. No, his contract is up. And it just sounds like they aren't putting him on their postseason roster. If he was in pain, I doubt he'd pitch today. I'm just sad. I was gonna pull for the Blue Jays because of Mark.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Quintana for Frazier seems so much like a kind of move I'd make sarcastic, insulting jokes about them being dumb enough to do that somehow I think it'll really happen. That'll be the moment I walk into a thread, say "I'm out", and then that'll be it for me with this franchise for a while. We'll probably throw in Danish to make it happen. Q-for-Frazier is such a bad deal unless the Reds are throwing significant prospects back.

Mark Buehrle to retire?
You know what really defined Mark when it came down to it? That damn slip-n-slide. Until proven otherwise, thus the career of one of the most unique players in baseball history comes to a close.

Mark Buehrle to retire?
What the hell? Why not pitch in the postseason...?

Why NOT trade Chris Sale?
QUOTE (Real @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 02:40 AM) this pretty much, you can't trade sale for prospects so forget about that nonsense right now he has to be traded for cost-controlled elite MLB players, the goal being to pick up multiple guys that would fill in the holes you have now catcher, 2b, 3b, SP (since we'd be losing Sale) are the primary holes Schwarber, Bryant and Russell Only half green because that'd be what it takes, but it won't happen.

Appreciating the Feathered Serpent
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 01:22 AM) Nothing flashy about Q . He just does his job very very well and with about as much emotion as a ping pong ball. It'll be a sad day when he is traded. There was a huge amount of doubters about him on this board. The worst part would be if he was traded to a contender and got his much deserved All-Star appearances, everyone who wanted to trade him would say "Why couldn't he pitching that for us?"

Another School Shooting
I'm just numb. I got down to the newsroom after class, saw this on our TVs and then just got back to work. Nothing will change. We'll mourn. We'll talk about the heroic dead. We'll ask why the media is saying the killer's name. We'll say it was mental illness. We'll say he'd do it with anything if he couldn't get a gun. And then we'll feel better. We'll forget the heroic dead. We'll forget the killer's name. We won't do anything for mental health in this country. We'll ignore that this keeps happening,
