QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 07:45 PM) They are not the same thing but the logic being used is exactly the same here. Although terrorism does have a definition it's hard to apply to the real world and pretty difficult to prosecute so a lot of times terrorists end up getting charged with ordinary crimes (murder, etc. Richard Reid got charged with attempted murder, interfering with a flight crew, attempted destruction of an aircraft etc. etc. etc.) edit: n/m I didn't see until later that you were being sarcastic Thank you for basically making the point I was too lazy to make.

Another shooting
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 06:39 PM) It says nothing of the sort. Maybe you should read your own links...it says exactly what he's being charged with. And the story, as a whole, is about him following army regulations. Note, it doesn't say anything about being charged with a hate crime...you know, the ACTUAL charge, or terrorism. It doesn't matter if an expert witness wants to talk about him being a terrorist, when he wasn't charged with that in the case they're hearing...which is why the defense is asking that it be dismissed. "Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the November 2009 attack on the Texas Army post." Yeah, I read it. I also know that if the liberal media wanted it to be viewed as something other than terrorism, like "workplace violence" they wouldn't have mentioned it. That's how it works, it's how opinion is inserted without actually outright saying it.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 06:35 PM) False what? That story has nothing to do with the point the poster you replied too even tried to make. He said it got called workplace violence, while right there it is called homegrown terrorism.

Shooting in CO at Batman premiere
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Guy gets arrested at theater in Ohio with a bunch of knives, a loaded Glock handgun, and several loaded additional magazines. Will be charged with about all they can charge him with...carrying a concealed handgun without a permit and carrying a weapon while having a disability. Had a nice arsenal of a dozen or so guns, few thousand rounds, gas masks, and body armor left at home. And I just died a little inside.

Another shooting
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) Because when the crime is black on white, or Muslum against Jew, police always tiptoe around saying it was/could be a hate crime. Maj. Nidal shoots up an army base because he hates non muslims, it gets called 'workplace violence', not a hate crime, or terrorism. It isn't applied evenly, in any stretch of the imagination, at all. 'Hate' isn't just whitey hating xxx. False.

Chick-Fil-A and Homosexuality
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 05:59 PM) Dude, even I can tell you the answer to that one. It raised AWARENESS. Because thgat trumps all. Awareness that slackers are still living in mom's basement wioth no jobs due to crappy college degrees and/or no desire to start work at the bottom. Awareness that there is a whole bunch of people that feel the world owes them an ipad or gormet meals just because. It also accomplished double digit deaths, rapes and hundreds of arrests. Oh, and huge costs to the actual working people who pay taxes to clean up their mess after they left/were kicked out of the various parks and for police overtime. Oh, now you support awareness. But I'll agree, Occupy sucked.

The Avengers/Marvel Comics thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) Rumors are that it is heavily about S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and how they interact with the superheros, as well as interact with the world in the fallout of Loki's invasion. Any way about it, it is awesome. Joss Whedon was born for this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Cinema...erse#Television That plays to the SHIELD angle and could add Luke Cage.

Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) Based on his track record, it's pretty absurd to think that Kenny knew something that others didn't. He more or less just took a flier on the dude. I'm glad that it worked out. It's nice to have a guy at the top of the order who can post a .350 OBP. His record says he's good at finding scrap heap guys.

Twitter/Facebook
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) Hey can you help me out? I got in a big argument over Twitter/Facebook because I think it is sad so many anonymous assholes on Twitter blasted Gabby Douglas for her hair, so much so it may have affected her performance the past couple days. I personally HATE the anonymous Internet. It disgusts me. I am all for every website making users use their real names. Yes, even this one. If we had to represent ourselves officially we all would post differently I'm sure. So tell me, do you use Twitter? Do you use Facebook? Give me your opinions of both. My opinion Twitter: I hate the fact you can anonymously go on there and blast people like Gabby Douglas. You say things you WOULD NEVER say to a person's face. I used it a bit but think it is a waste of time. It reminds me of comments sections on articles on the internet. The dregs of society gets on there and blasts away at the writer, the content of the story, everybody and anything. Facebook: It amuses me but I rarely post on it. If you do post on there, family members tend to get on there and say all sorts of dumb things. I have never posted a picture on facebook; lots of people do all the time. I think anonymity is helping ruin society and making it so full of hate. http://flapship.com/author/djshapiro/ My name is Daniel J. Shaprio. Boom, official. Gonna post the same. Now, for Twitter and FB. I use Twitter for sports news and an occasional friends tweet. Don't tweet myself, because I like full sentences and spelling. FB is one of the most useful tools out there for networking and keeping in touch.
