  3. Now one more to get Q off the hook, and two more for the win!
  4. The capable defensive Garcia saving the incapable defensive Garcia. Geeeesshhh!
  5. The dreaded Kansas City special.
  6. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 6, 2017 -> 10:15 PM) Matt Cassidy‏ @Matt_Cassidy 2h2 hours ago More Micker Adolfo has made big leaps. Looks much better on both sides of the ball. Something has clicked there. Well, if the 20 year-old Adolfo has perhaps turned a corner and is putting himself on a projectable path to a high ceiling MLB career, and if the team is able to sign the 19 year-old Luis Robert, that could be the makings of some kind of outfield a few years down the road.
  7. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 11:13 PM) Because the goal of baseball isn't to be a winner for one year in a decade. The goal is to build talent in your farm system so that you have young, cost controlled talent. THEN you use free agency to fill the holes and try to win the World Series for a wide open window of time. It pains me how simple you are sometimes. Rebuilding is in because rebuilding works. The "going for it" nonsense works once every five years if you're lucky. And you're damn right no one cares about this locker room. We know what this is, and we're still not 23-10 yet (not that it mattered last year) Sounds almost exactly how Hahn and Kenny described how they were going to navigate the "open window" of the past three or four years when the team already had a core of "young, cost controlled talent". Perhaps you can advise them on how to better execute the "THEN you use free agency" part so we see fewer Adam LaRoche, Jimmy Rollins, and Austin Jackson types and more players of a Yoenis Cespedes caliber the next time around.
  8. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) You can, actually. It's called the ecstasy of being a contender Well sign me up for a summer of that!!
  9. Ahhhhh...the ecstasy of WINNING! You can't beat it!!
  10. I thought FIRST PLACE teams were buyers at the trade deadline, not sellers!!
  11. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 06:36 PM) It is good to hear that home run call again! X 2!
  12. It is good to hear that home run call again!
  13. Lol - Hawk & Stoney, methinks the juice had a whole lot more to do with Sosa's so-called success than any toe tap.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) It just amazes me how much the ball is jumping off of his bat this year. Up until this year, he seemed overmatched at the Major League level. Thus far this year, he seems like he has a chance up at the plate. Hope he can keep it up, because he's looking pretty good all-around at the moment.
  15. 20 runs in the past two nights. Not too shabby!
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) That was a great AB There's been a few of those this inning!
  17. I'd like many more thoughtful conversations like this one between Benetti and Stoney and much, much less of the corny back-and-forths.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 09:19 PM) Matt Davidson is a god. I'm ever so slowly starting to forget about Addison Reed!
  19. Davidson hung in on every single pitch of that at-bat against a guy who should really give him fits.
  20. Good argument by Stoney for a balanced schedule.
  21. Let's see if we can get that E-5 run back in our half of the inning.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 09:56 AM) How many of those contracts turned out well? The better question is how many of those contracts led the signing team to more trips to and success in the postseason? Because if you haven't noticed, this team is on its way to its ninth year since it made the playoffs, and will only have made it there (barely) once in the 12 years since 2005. So my point is, the strategy to avoid signing any contracts greater than $68 million, unlike 27 of the other MLB ball clubs have, has not resulted in success. And I would submit it's one of many reasons why the culture of losing continues to prevail at 35th and Shields.
