  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 06:24 PM) Yeah, lol is about right. Add in an eye roll as well. Your eyes will feel a lot better if and when the culture of losing we experience with the current ownership is finally swept to the curb. Sunny days are on the horizon!
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) You laugh now, but all you have to do is look around professional sports to know that there are much worse ownership groups worse than the one we have. It hard to see past your WELL REASONED DISSATISFACTION WITH THE HOPEFULLY-SOON-TO-BE-FORMER-OWNERSHIP, but it is true. LOL - oh, I will gladly take my chances!
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:08 PM) I hope not. Well now, don't dismiss me too quickly. I can whip up a 3 Year Plan with the best of 'em!!
  4. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) Of course, the prospective ownership group could be worse than the current. Interesting.
  5. Seven pages into this thread, and NOT ONE person lamenting the possibility of Jerry Reinsdorf no longer owning the Sox.
  6. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) you sure post like you very strongly dislike the handling of this team. does that more fit how you post about the owner. You really enjoy playing the semantics game. I've never said in any post the owner sucks. I've been saying the opposite. He has done many good things for the organization and baseball itself for that matter. Yes, you always respond that the owner is the issue. For example?
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) It's a heck of a lot better than many other teams. Which teams?
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 08:57 PM) I've replied many times. He has done many good things for the organization. That being said, i wouldn't mind a change as they haven't produced lately. However, your constant posts which continue to say the same thing, are getting as bad as greg's royals love. We get it you hate the owner. You will post to tear him apart. That's why I suggest you just have the "JR sucks" automatic post so you don't give yourself carpal tunnel posting the same thing over and over. However, if you feel you need to, go ahead just be careful mechanics when typing. Lol - first off, I don't "hate" anyone, so be careful throwing around such careless accusations. Second, this is the second time YOU have mentioned in this thread that the owner sucks. I mean, talk about an automatic post! I never said any such thing in this thread. I merely responded to someone earlier who was commenting about the lack of posts tonight not being because the team was ahead at the time, as was asserted, but rather because the owner and his management team have failed once again to put a product on the field that would compel enough people to have enough interest to come here and post. Very fair observation, I'm sure you would agree upon thinking about it again.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) If the Cubs actually win the World Series, that 2005 card will get harder and harder to play. It's not like anyone is going to games anymore because of something that happened 11 years ago. One trip to the World Series in 36 years as owner for a large market team is not an impressive record by any measure, no matter how well the team performed in that one year.
  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) As I said before. Just have a automatic post that says "JR sucks." Well he does, doesn't he? Have you seen White Sox baseball this past decade? Come to a different conclusion on the guy and let us know how you got to it. Be very interesting to see what you have to say on his record.
  11. QUOTE (Insp @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) Team's ahead, nobody posting. Business as usual. "Business as usual" is because Sox management has failed once again to bring forth compelling, competitive baseball here in the middle of summer. Your beef about lack of posting is with Reinsdorf, Williams and Hahn, not the fans.
  12. Stoney and Wimpy were absolutely terrific tonight on the broadcast. Stone very fluid with the PBP, and the Wimperoo pretty sharp with the color. It was as if they've worked side by side for years. Very nice listen!
  13. Very acrobatic pair up the middle there for the Royales.
  14. I enjoy the Stoney/Wimpy broadcast combo. Rather pleasant sounding, and the 'ol Wimperoo still has it, IMHO.
  15. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 10:05 PM) That figure is wrong. The Sox won 90+ games under JR six times: 1983, 1990, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2006. Mark Correct. Fixed.
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) You are entitled to that view. However, they've had many successful seasons unless the 1983 team winning 99 games and that really good run in the 90's doesn't count. i would consider those special seasons along with the World Series win. "Many successful seasons"? During the last 36 years? How "many"? By my count, only five, given the team has only made it to the postseason five times during that period. Making it to the playoffs is what defines "success" in baseball, and nothing less. At least that's my point of view, and one shared by no less than our ace starter and perennial All Star, Chris Sale. He's on record saying he hasn't played in a "meaningful game" in his entire career since the Sox haven't made it to the postseason since he joined the team way back in 2012. So you are, of course, entitled to call a season "special" under your own terms, but successful? That is making it to the postseason, and nothing else.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) Good for you. I know what you think too. I disagree. I'll take the World Series win over the years of good but never winning the world series teams. As I said, draw your own conclusion. If you are content with something special coming by once every nearly 40 years, well, to each his own. Be satisfied with just that. I'll join the chorus of others who hope for and expect better production than that.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 06:37 PM) I don't think anyone has said that. That is taking the "I hate JR" to the extreme. I think it's more the posters that are trying to say that no one currently with this team has done anything to help this team. That is extremely short sighted and big on revisionist history. I just disagree with the comment that he has done nothing for this team or franchise. 36 years now with Jerry Reinsdorf as owner of the Chicago White Sox. 18 of those 36 years, or exactly 50% of his time as owner, the Sox have finished at .500 or below. 6 of those 36 years, or 17% of his time as owner, the Sox have won 90 or more games. 5 of those 36 years, or 14% of his time as owner, the Sox have reached the postseason. 1 of those 36 years, the Sox made it to the World Series, and they won it. Avg. game attendance in 1980, the year before JR bought the team: 14,819* (* - actual fans in attendance vs. tickets sold) Avg. game attendance in 2015, last full year of JR's ownership of team: 21,677 There ya go! That is the record of Jerry Reinsdorf as head honcho of the Sox. Has he "done nothing for the team or franchise" over nearly four decades as the owner? No, you can't say that. There was 2005, and it was magnificent. Outside of that wondrous year, well, you look at his record and draw your own conclusion. I know what I think!
  19. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 04:41 PM) Exactly. Jerry wants to win, I have no doubt on that score at all. The caveat is though he wants to win "his way," under "his conditions." How's that worked out for 36 years basically? He's a brilliant business guy and real estate man, no question. That doesn't mean his way is smarter or better than the rest of baseball's and the record shows it hasn't worked very well. Mark Can you name me one owner who doesn't?
  20. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) 2015 happened because they had some nice pieces and jerry couldn't sit on his hands no longer to let them keep building up. He accelerated it and wanted to compete. Problem is there were still too many holes on the roster. Keep patching things and wanting to win isnt helping and hahn is the only one to acknowledge that. Havent heard anything from kenny or jerry about it. Hell kenny didn't even know of they were buying or selling. A team that claims they want "to compete" and which came in last in offense last year does not pass up acquiring the very available Yoenis Cespedes and/or Ian Desmond last offseason in favor of Austin Jackson and Jimmy Rollins. I mean, enough with this "we want to compete" business already. Actions speak louder than words.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) Sox play like s*** on weekend home games for the last 5 years especially when crowd is bigger, a lot of those fans are not coming back and I do not blame them. Yes, but there are those who would tell you that it's not that bad baseball you are referencing that will keep the fans from coming back. That's not the problem at all to hear others tell it. They'll tell you it's those fans making up excuses about the color of the seats, or ticket prices, or parking issues, or whatever. That's why they'll stay away, and not the bad baseball.
  22. QUOTE (Insp @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) What is this Jason guy saying? Well, right now he's talking about painting Steve Stone's face.
