  1. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) If Hudson and/or Torres do well in spring, would you deal Floyd to open a spot for them, if it mean bringing back a stud hitter like Gonzalez or Fielder? If Hudson continues to progress at the alarming rate he did last year, it would definitely mean the end of Gavin's stay in Chicago. Floyd's been a great pitcher for us, but Hudson's ceiling is higher than his. The Detroit game should've proved that. And IMO Gavin's probably already peaked. I don't think alone he could net us a big bat (i.e. Gonzo or Fielder) but he could haul in a bounty of good prospects. And if the Sox were confident enough in the offense and Daniel Hudson taking over the 3rd/4th spot, reinforcing the farm system would be a sound baseball move. The Nationals could be a possible partner if the Sox wanted to trade Floyd. - Nats are looking for SP - Gavin's from Maryland - The Nats have quite a bit of intriguing prospects (Derek Norris, Chris Marrero) With Norris being blocked by Jesus Flores and the 2010 projected No. 1 overall pick being Bryce Harper C. Norris could be part of a deal along with a few other pieces. Maybe Gavin Floyd for Derek Norris, Sean Burnett, and couple hi-A pitchers isn't out of the question. That way Norris is your future catcher and Flowers can slide to 1B/DH and concentrate his efforts on power. Burnett could also fair well as the LOOGY. This is all predicated on Hudson's progress and the signability of John Danks (he's the future Mark Buehrle, so sorry he's not getting traded). But if things fall to place Gavin could be a valuable trade chip.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) I am ALWAYS skeptical of new people. I'm just telling you what I heard on the radio. I'm skeptical about a Gonz trade to the White Sox as well, but If Kenny is making a move it makes me wonder if its for him.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) Was it speculation or reporting? It sounded like reporting, but they had no information so I'm taking it as speculation. But with this news that Kenny is about to make a move; I'm starting to wonder.
  4. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) I call an Adrian Gonzalez trade Just heard on ESPN Radio that an Adrian Gonzales trade is happening soon, they didn't talk about teams though.
  5. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) Whats the word on where Russell Branyan is gonna end up? He's kinda in the same class as Jack Cust in that he K's a ton but I think he brings more pop like Im thinkin 40+ here at the cell. This past year was the last time he's played over 100 games since 2001. I think Kenny is working on something bigger for leadoff and/or big-name bat. DH will be filled at the end of the season, probably last position that gets filled. I think if Kenny gets his player there's a good chance we'll see Thome back.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) I haven't heard his name mentioned yet, and the Sox don't appear to be linked to him in any way, but would free agent Troy Glaus be a fit for the DH spot next year? His 2009 was a total wash- he only played 14 games due to injury. But his last full season line was .270/.372/.483 with 27 HRs and 99 RBIs in '08. He's an injury waiting to happen, but so was Jim Thome when the Sox acquired him after '05. Maybe the cliched Move Him To DH/Herm's Magic Touch could help him stay healthy next year? At 33, he's younger than Thome, Matsui, Vlad and Delgado. (The Sox are allegedly looking for a lefty bat, and Glaus hits right-handed.) If healthy (the big if) he could probably give you 25-30 HRs, .360-.370 OBP and .480-.500 SLG. Plus he can play a little 1B (his 3B days are probably over), adding to Ozzie's versatility. Not sure what kind of contract he is looking for, but if he's inexpensive might he be an option? Thoughts? Glaus was in the Mitchell Report as having multiple shipments of steriods and PED's sent to his home. Don't think he'll be putting up any .480 -.500 slugging anytime soon, especially not for the White Sox.
