QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 10:39 PM) OK. lol -
Yeah, this would be great. Why would the Angels ever do that?

Sorry for the poll formatting issues, lol. If I'd known it required at least one answer in each group, I probably would have grouped them differently.

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) mlb trade rumors not saying sox talking to vmart like blue jays and manriners are. Most recent reports have them as the most aggressive, yes. But local media have reported direct quotes from the White Sox front office admitting that he is a target. Regardless, it's a long shot at best. -
The first three to triple digits: Sandoval, Miller, Gregerson. So SoxTalk DOES want Hahn to spend on the bullpen.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) The more you post the less we will get back from the Yankees for you Nothing to do now but hope for a bounceback to build value for the deadline

Pleased to see LaRoche with some early support. I think he's a great fit for us, failing that we come up with a good rotating OF DH situation.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 11:09 AM) You should have done one for hitters and one for pitchers! I am extremely disappointed in your creative thinking. I am also disappointed in me.

Shockingly aggressive on Micker. Sometimes I think BA really blows certain guys up just because they want to be seen as the first to jump on the bandwagon. Hard to argue that Viva Zapata should show up here quite yet, let alone ahead of guys like Danish.

Yeah, I had to make some cuts because the poll limited me to 30. Morse was the last guy I took off, and it's worth noting that there area smattering or relievers that didn't get put in but we should be expected to court.

Sox acquire Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa
Eminor3rd replied to Rooftop Shots's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the A's do trade Samardzija, I imagine they'll be looking to bolster the MLB roster in other areas. Part of the reason Beane paid the price he did was because he retained control over Samardzija in 2015, which is definitely a contention year for Oakland. Also, the Cespedes trade showed us that he isn't afraid to "rob Peter to pay Paul" so to speak. -
Simple question: Which players do you want on the team the most? The purpose of this poll isn't to tackle questions like "Well I want player X if we also get player Y and replace player Z," or "Depending on the direction Hahn takes, I'd like Player X or Player Y." No.This is just to identify the "guys the board likes the most." Do consider: - Fit with the roster - Chemistry in the clubhouse - Cost of each player based on consensus estimate Do NOT consider: - Cost in relation to others, so signing one guy would not prohibit you signing another - Depth chart implications from new acquisitions, so signing one guy wouldn't block another. Don't consider Sandoval as an obstacle to Headley, but do consider Sandoval as replacing Gillaspie.

Don't Overlook the Job Hahn's Doing on the South Side
Eminor3rd replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hey, Dayn Perry! Haha, I have so much trouble taking him seriously after having been exposed to his NotGraphs content to frequently. -
Couple things to keep in mind: 1. Lots of teams like Kemp's bat and would like to have him if the Dodgers pay a bunch of money for the contract. There's no way we're going to be able to get him for Danks and expect them to throw in money. Whichever team gets him is going to pay for it -- either by taking on way more money than they want to get him for little talent, or by giving up something of real value to get Kemp at a reasonable salary. 2. Matt Kemp has made it publicly clear that he wants to play center field, and has a a history of inconsistency that appears to be at least partially related to his happiness level. I don't think that he's likely to get exactly what he wants (CF) anywhere, but you can bet he would be very vocally angry if he's relegated to DH, and that's not something that his acquiring team will want to deal with. If we get Kemp, he will be in the field every day, most likely in left.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 09:59 PM) First off, comparing guys who play in such drastically different home ballparks using OPS is less than ideal. Their career OPS+ are 96 for Viciedo, 94 for Saunders. But more importantly, Suanders' career numbers are dragged down by his age 22, 23, 24 seasons. His last 3 seasons wRC+ are 108, 100, and 126. Viciedo's last 3 are 98, 96, 88. I'll reiterate again because so many posters continue to have some rigid old notions about what a typical corner outfielder "needs to provide" that don't have a basis in the current state of MLB offense. There were 21 outfielders in MLB who hit 20 home runs last year. 16 of those were corner outfielders. So about half of the baseball teams have even 1 corner outfielder who hit 20 home runs last year. Of those, some are such a liability defensively that you'd ideally have them at DH or 1B or not on the team. Viciedo leads that list which probably includes Matt Kemp, George Springer, Oswaldo Arcia, maybe Khris Davis. There are less than 20 players in all of MLB who hit 20 home runs last year who should be playing in the outfield. There are 30 baseball teams. Excellent post. Frame of reference is important.

People often mistakenly assume that leverage is based on the position of the seller. It isn't -- it's based on the position of the buyer(s). No matter how badly the Braves want to move him, it only takes two buyers to create a bidding war, and all of a sudden the price to acquire him becomes the highest bid. I think caulfield is right that Gattis will be more valuable than we think. I don't think it would cost Anderson, though. To me, Hawkins as a centerpiece feels about right.

A lot of it would depend on how well 2015 goes, too. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 7, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) Agreed. Volquez back to San Diego was especially laughable. He was absolutely brutal there and they released him because he was so bad. It's rare you see someone get RELEASED by an organization and then signed to a contract by the same team within a year and a half after, let alone a lucrative, multi-year deal. Also, he put Josh Johnson to SDP one a 1yr/$3m deal. Didn't they JUST decline his option at 1yr/$4m?

This isn't one of Cameron's better efforts, IMO.
