  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 03:38 PM) I was just reading an Orioles forum and of course, they are suggesting they might trade Bundy for Sale, but never for Peavy. One of the responses was "I'd be shocked if Sale makes it to his arb years without suffering major injury." Uhhh.... Lol.
  2. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:17 PM) Peavy to Boston for Middlebrooks, Brentz, Ranaudo Ramirez, Lidstrom, + to St.Louis for Adams Rios to Pittsburgh for Kingham, Barret Barnes Crain to TB for ??? I'd love that return on Rios at this point. But if Peavy goes for Middlebrooks, I'm going to have to slice a pound of flesh off of my body like in the movie Se7en just to give myself something more worthy to cry about.
  3. Peavy and the relievers go. Rios and Ramirez stay.
  4. It's going to be so *boring when the news breaks that says: "Rays acquire RP Jesse Crain for PTBNL"
  5. Bogaerts isn't moving. Honestly, I'd be happy with any deal with Boston that includes Cecchini. If you can get one of their pitchers too, that's great, but Cechinni + a couple org players seems like a reasonable deal for both sides. EDIT: And yes, NO MIDDLEBROOKS
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:18 AM) If Bundy is the centerpiece of a Peavy deal, then Rick Hahn failed miserably. I don't care how talented Bundy is. You don't give up the top pitcher on the market for a guy who just had major surgery. The Sox aren't trading Paul Malholm here. Not everybody recovers well from Tommy John either. That's a LOT of upside though...
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) He was so bad yesterday. I don't see how any GM would give up anything of value for this guy. Hate to be so negative, but Lindstrom? He's just another Boone Logan type of pitcher IMO. Just another guy. Lol.
  8. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) The MLB.com rankings aren't worth discussion. Isn't it Mayo?
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) (Just to note...that reclamation project could easily be "Gavin Floyd". He's shown every sign he likes it in Chicago, he might well be able to give a few innings in the 2nd half or late in the season next year, and he won't be in anyone's way to start the year). I also think they have some insurance for Johnson and Santiago already developing in the form of Rienzo, Snodgress, and maybe Axelrod if they can get him confortable in the swingman role. lol I completely forgot Gavin Floyd was still a person.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) And I keep thinking...the Sox have at least 5 starting pitchers other than Peavy who could be likely rotation guys next year even without any free agent signings. The only issue with that list is all the lefties, but a rotation of Sale, Danks, Q, Santiago, and Johnson could easily be competitive next year. Certainly. If he doesn't move by the deadline, I bet he'll be on the block all winter. Given where the Sox are right now, they can just sign a veteran reclamation project as insurance for Johnson/Santiago and go into 2014 as a developmental year that -- if they get some offensive talent back in trades -- could turn into a surprising run if all of the young kids take a step forward.
  11. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) The more days go on, the less confident I feel. I don't think they move Peavy, Rios, or anyone. I won't be shocked if Rios doesn't move, especially if the reports of the Pirates not being impressed with him are true. But the market for starting pitching is simply too compelling -- I'd put money on Peavy being gone.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) I can't believe the Sox haven't made any moves besides Thornton. You think the money issue is a holdup? If I were Jerry I wouldn't want to pay teams money for taking Rios/Dunn/Peavy/Lexi off our hands. It's bad business just to give away money with players. Hahn is really going to get blasted if he doesn't make some good trades. Yeah I don't think we know what the deal is until July 31. Maybe he's shrewdly holding out for the best deal, maybe he's overplaying his hand and is going to get burnt. Maybe he doesn't feel the urgency to move anyone. Maybe he got lowballed so hard that it just wasn't worth it. All we can do is wait and see.
  13. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) I dont think Stanton is getting dealt. I am not sure that MLB wouldn't stop such a move given the condition of that franchise. I don't think he's getting dealt this season, but there's little chance he doesn't get traded eventually. The Marlins can try to extend him, but he's been so publicly against staying with them long term that he would likely refuse any reasonable deal -- and there's no way the MLB would force the Marlins to hold him until he walks.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) That's a big workload for a guy that throws 60 inning a year and there's absolutely no justification for it. If his workload was too strenuous, it would show in his performance -- fatigue causes a decline in stuff, which causes a decline in results. But it hasn't been the case. The guy has been nails all year. Newsflash: Pitchers get hurt. If a guy can't handle 12 innings per month, why is he worth a 25 man roster spot?
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Any shot we can get Profar in a deal? My opinion, no chance. They're saving him for Stanton.
  16. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heym...oin-peavy-derby There's really no new information at this point, I really need a deal to just happen.
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 01:03 PM) But we will after the trade deadline. Party pooper let us dream. I said it in jest of course and Sox looking more for lefty power bat but nothing would surprise me . Sorry to poop, lol. But honestly, we're not going to get any pieces that will beat Profar in a Rangers offer. So even after the deadline, we're just not in the conversation

  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 01:43 PM) Interesting. Thanks. I mean, what do I know though?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) Whoa. Danny Knobler ‏@DannyKnoblerCBS 7m Rangers are thinking big in OF search. Tried for Stanton, watched Bautista, Encarnacion. All 3 unlikely, though. http://cbsprt.co/19mSiXl Not surprising -- good time to cut ties with Cruz, and they have a tremendously valuable blocked prospect in Profar.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 01:22 PM) Anyone think they would be willing to give up early on Heyward? I don't. If they did, it would be for a guy like David Price who they planned on being around for many years. As good as Peavy is, he doesn't have the same kind of long-term value.
  22. We don't have the bullets, guys. Even if we scrounged up something the Marlins would take, someone would easily outbid us.
