Hell, 2012 is a good year.
You know why this season sucks? Because now I'm going to hate every second of the playoffs instead of enjoying them like last year, and now KW/RH are goin to make 3 lateral acquisitions in the offseason, the team will be expected to compete, and it will blow. And it will be another wasted season. If you're going to win, then f***ing win. Bunch of f***ing s***ty babies.

No, f*** this season. f*** being in first the WHOLE DAMN TIME and losing it like a bunch of bush leaguers in the last 10 games. f*** baseball. Why don't you cry about attendance now, KW? You've made me miserable.

I don't think I'm going to watch this game. Too much misery.

I figure it's 50/50 that we win tonight. It's also 50/50 that the Tigers lose. That means there's a 25% chance that we'll get exactly what we want, a 25% chance of a complete disaster, and a 50% chance that we'll just tread water by staying tied.

Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
I don't even know why I follow baseball. All this does is stress me out.

Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) It's tough to sweep a team at night then in a matinee. We should have played it at night. Sad. How is it any less tough to win for the other team?

Who is our closer the final 9 games?
There is no defensible baseball reason not to go with match-ups every time. The closer is obsolete and survives only because of the money that comes with saves is sacred to the players/Player's Union.

Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
Yeah, I'm tired of this media guilt trip garbage. I'm the f***ing customer, and the Sox are not some charity. If I choose to consume the product, I'll consume it how I choose. I watch 120-130 Sox games on TV every year, and as a direct result of me and those like me, the Sox get bajillions of dollars from their TV deal. Everyone in that organization is making a ton of money directly from us, and then they have the audacity to threaten us with a crappy product if we don't buy it twice?

Hahn to become GM, Williams promoted to Vp of Bball Ops?

White Sox unlikely to pick up Peavy's option
FWIW, I think we have to pick up Youk's option because there is simply no other way to get league average production at 3B. Take a look at the free agent crop -- it's abysmal. Peavy is an easier decline, IMO, because there are going to be way more ways to supplement the rotation than to supplement third base this offseason, especially considering that Headley has become so highly coveted.

White Sox unlikely to pick up Peavy's option
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) Bringing Youk back for $13 million would be a huge mistake, IMO. He's hitting around .200 since the ASB. If you're going to invest that much in a 3rd baseman, it seems like you could use that money for a better player. I'm not sure who would be available in the offseason (trade market). I'm not saying you're wrong, but quoting his BA at .200 is a horrible argument. At least use OPS, if not wOBA -- his homerun pace since he joined us has been something in the high-30's over a full season, and we know he walks a ton, which is tremendously valuable in front of Dunn/Konerko. His batting average is maybe tenth on the list of offensive numbers we should care about.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Padres pick him back up on a 3/36 or something.

Hahn to become GM, Williams promoted to Vp of Bball Ops?
I bet what this means is we start seeing Hahn address the media more often each year for a couple years and gradually assume the role. And then KW retires when Hahn takes the training wheels off.
-
Hahn to become GM, Williams promoted to Vp of Bball Ops?
I feel like all these titles mean nothing. Like Hoyer is the Cubs GM, but it's Epstein that addresses the media and speaks like he's running the show. If KW is president, is he still running the show? Otherwise, what does President do?

Cy Guthrie to pitch Thursday
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 06:30 PM) 23.1 IP and 0 ER against us. f***ing Christ. Those were probably the two best starts of his career, though. I mean it wasn't like he just mystified us or anything, the guy had three pitches spot on both those nights and got them all over the plate. This is something he has not been able to do with any consistencyover the course of his career, so we shouldn't expect that he'll do it again.

Any team can play well or poorly over a 16 game stretch. Anything can happen, but the odds are on our side because we have a three game lead.

9/17 Tigers at White Sox
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) What is farmer pissed about, Cabrera? First it was the blown call at first, but yeah, the second was the inside slider to Cabrera. Farmer is harping on how bad an idea it was not to stay away.
