5 Sox players off of roster
There really should be no in-between. If we don't think we can compete in this garbage division, it should be a full-on rebuild.

Offseason Plans
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 01:10 PM) I'd love to see them lock payroll up in long term pitching contracts. That pretty much never ends well. Yeah but I can't think of any instance where the Tigers were ever in a position to NOT sign more guys, no matter how many Carlos Guillens they had. those guys spend like crazy.

Offseason Plans
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) I would make the following trades.. Danks to TX for Martin Perez P and Profar SS. Since Profar is stuck behind Elvis. Konerko to AZ for Skaggs P and Bobby Borchering 3B. AJ to LA Dodgers for Angel Sanchez P Floyd & Alexei to Reds for Alonso 1B, Bill Bray LR and Billy Hamilton Utily Peavy and Thornton to Yanks for Gary Sanchez C, Bettances P and David Phelps P Quentin to Phils for Domonic Brown OF Would also try to trade Dunn, Crain, and Rios lol what?! Those wouldn't even fly in a video game. Peavy and Thornton for Sanchez, Betances, and Phelps rofl Awkwardly, the proposed Reds deal is as lopsided against the Sox as all of the others are lopsided FOR the Sox.

What can the Sox realistically expect in a trade for Danks
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 05:04 PM) Interestingly enough, when Kenny asked for Holland for Thornton, Daniels would have if Danks was involved. A deal with the rangers of Holland + Spects for Danks/Thornton? The Rangers then went and traded for Mike Adams and Koji Uehara. They don't need Thornton anymore and would probably rather have Holland than Danks.

What can the Sox realistically expect in a trade for Danks
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) If Kenny were going as punishment for those deals it would have happened already. Like it or not; we are overly deep with near fa's at several positions and the veterans must be moved. The next level of job security for Kenny is what he gets in those deals (and how the players perform under Ventura.) Yep, the Ventura hiring means that Jerry has given Kenny a chance to rebuild. If he makes a bone-headed waiver claim or a Jim Hendry "rebuilding" signing, then he's gone, but I think he ends up sticking around until the next real contender.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
I'm totally OK with KW hiring a Yes-man. FO and on-field management being on the same page is way more important than some kind of ego-driven micromanager.

Konerko talks with AZ happened in August
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Completely understanding your logic, but maybe we shoud have put Kenny Williams on waivers first? I'm starting to think your posts aren't all sarcastic...

Is Carlos Quentin going to be on this team in 2012?
I really hope he isn't. I like him, but we need to get prospects for him. This team will not be good over the next year or so unless Rios/Dunn produce, there's no sense in wasting value by paying veterans to try to carry the dead weight.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
You know guys, if we moved CQ, Thornton, and at least one of Danks/Floyd, we might end up with close to a league-average farm system by spring training, what with Martinez/Marinez already here for filler. This would be at least a little exciting.

Chris Sale to be Moved to the Rotation in 2012
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) Then you know what would have been great? Stretching him out to 165 innings this year. Best thing you could have done if you were really worried about him breaking down at the end of the year. The more I see the Rays put K machines on the mound year after year, the more I'm OK with the David Price/Jeremy Hellickson strategy. Shelf life seems to be an issue if you're going blow an elbow, but not if you need to build strength.

Offseason Plans
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) If Danks had performed in 2011 like he performed in 2008 we might have had a shot. I think that's a great deal more value than the Sox can expect from Danks. And the worst part is...where would he play? Who you benching, De Aza, Quentin, Lillibridge, Rios? For Gardner? Any of them.

Top 10 Prospect list
According to this list, Josh Vitters is the fourth AND tenth best 3B prospect in the majors. I wouldn't put too much stock in it.
-
Reclamation Projects
How about this: rumor is the Mets will non-tender Angel Pagan. If CQ is traded, we could go with Pagan, Viciedo, and Rios/De Aza.

Chris Sale to be Moved to the Rotation in 2012
If we re-signed Buerhle and dumped BOTH Danks and Floyd, we'd still have a shot at winning the division. If the big contracts rebound, it's more than enough. If they don't, we're going to lose anyway. I say dump the valuable pieces for desperately needed prospects.

I have Officially Conceded the Season is Over
What are you talking about? We still have a chance. Hawk said we'd be in it at the end.

Ozzie Guillen Released from Contract
Ozzie made boneheaded in-game strategy decisions night after night after night the entire time he was here. He wrote up completely asinine batting orders that obviously totally ignore all research on putting guys in the best position to contribute based on their skill sets. His attitude has caused a rift being the FO and management and his tirades had become an outright distraction for the players and fans alike. On the plus side, he was able to instill confidence in his young pitchers. We were able to get a fairly decent compensation package to get rid of a part of our team that was holding us back. We're better off because of this. All we need is to hire someone who won't do the things listed in my first paragraph. Say what you want about KW, but Ozzie being gone, regardless of circumstance, is something we should be happy about.

We could lose some pieces and still accidentally contend next year.

In your opinion, best sox lineups..
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) lol. No Dunn or Rios? And Peavy is worse than four of your five starters. Lol, yeah. I didn't really commit between 'random/obscure' and 'historically bad,' so I got a mix of both. I really have nothing but good memories of ol' Kark, for example.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Clearly, it's safe to assume DV will hit a homerun every day.

Which of the underperfomers will figure it out in 2012?
All of them have excellent chances.

Who starts for Sox in '12
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) One of the veteran pitchers in the bullpen should go too, one of Frasor/Crain/Ohman/Thornton, if not two of them. The Sox don't have much depth in the minors, but they do have a few relievers that I think could be quite solid for cheap (Reed chief among them, but also Infante, Santiago who I think ends up a reliever again, Remenowsky). Why don't we talk about Reed more often? His numbers are awesome down there. He could be the shut-down setup guy that lets Sale move to the rotation. EDIT: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=reed--001add 13.2 K/9 and 1.0 BB/9 and HR/9? Are you kidding me? And he hasn't struggled at any level.

Small sample guys, let's not get TOO excited yet.
