  1. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) Then in that case he needs to STFU. He's the one who refuses to recruit, so he's the one who gets stuck with people like Boozer when we might have had a slightly better shot at Bosh/Wade/LBJ. He has 0 right to complain about things like that. Seriously, do you know how recruiting works? In order to recruit the player to your team, you have to have a good team, you would want to play with the player being recruited, and most important of all, you have to have a relationship with the player. NBA players aren't stupid, the Bulls were a great team with good potential on paper, Lebron knows that, Rose didn't have to sell the team to Lebron or Bosh, and he never said he didn't want to play with those players. The only reason Lebron went to Miami is his relationship with D Wade. If Lebron wasn't drafted in the same year as Wade and they weren't buddies off the court, there is no way he would have picked Miami over Chicago, all things remain equal. Not to mention like Balta said, they publicly admitted the decision to play together was toyed around during the 2008 Olympics. Rose didn't have a relationship with Lebron, and it's not in his nature to go out and make friends easily, you can't blame him for not doing so either. If his buddies Kevin Love and Tyreke Evans hits the free agent market, and if the FO wants those players, I wouldn't be surprised if Rose calls them up and ask them to come play in Chicago.
  2. Personally, I would like to see Heyman stable of Punk and Lesner vs. Taker and Triple H at Wrestlemania, with Punk and Lesner remaining a stable after WM. I think Punk's mic skills and persona could bring a different dimension out of Lesner as well. As of now, the respective angles of Lesner vs Triple H and Punk vs Taker will not carry over after Wrestlemania. Also, putting Taker in a tag match will make things a little more interesting. The only thing that prevents a Punk Lesner stable is the appearance clause in Brock's contracts.
  3. So what's this Tout crap WWE is pushing heavily tonight? I thought between Facebook Twitter and Tumblr, we already have enough social media gimmicks out there.
  4. The recent "build up" to his return has been dramatic. Bulls basketball wasn't the same this year without him. With 1.7%, he fell into our hands in 2008. His ascend to the MVP two years ago was the best story happened to Chicago sports since WS WS. He is Chicago basketball. He is Chicago's favorite son. I might shred a tear when they finally annouce "From Chicagooo...."
  5. Just watched the Elimination Chamber PPV, I like how none of the guys mentioned at the end of the show that the WM main event is a rematch of last year's event.
  6. Even with the increase in attendance and figured increase in concession sales, it will not bring up their revenue a whole lot given the cut in ticket sales. None the less, this is a positive trend and hopefully it could lead to bigger things in the future.
  7. If they are putting Swagger/Del Rio for Mania, it's going to be one of the most boring Manias in recent memory. No way you are going to put a guy who's been out of action for so long in a WM World title match less than two months after he returns unless that guy is Dwayne Johnson. And his new hairdo is just terrible. Rock vs Cena, we all know what's going happen. The Champ aka Super Cena is back Punk vs Taker. We all know what's going to happen too. A 30 minute match with Taker winning despite laying dead in the ring. No way they are going to bring Taker back for a WM and put a 1 in his loss column. It will erase the one thing that sets him apart from any wrestler in history. And Punk doesn't need another push. Triple H vs Lesner. Not a fan of guys coming back and only wrestling for one match a year. The story is not going to go anywhere. And half of these guys will not be here after WM!
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 07:10 AM) That's actually quite a positive review. If he could improve on the base paths he could have a Luis Castillo type ceiling hopefully That's wishful thinking. Castillo used to steal 50-60 bags in his prime. Sanchez is not a particularly fast guy, so you are asking him to gain more speed and steal more bases. Think Ryan Theriot, maybe slightly better contact, if he pans out.
  9. I like the fact that we won with "small" ball last night, which gives some hope that we could play small with the Heat in a playoff series as well, which will take Boozer out of the picture. Take the Heat's small ball lineup: Bosh/Haslem Battier/Lewis Lebron Wade Allen/Chalmers If we can counter with Noah/Boozer Deng/Gibson Butler Robinson/Bellineli Rose Where Deng will check Lebron and Butler will check Wade. Nate and Rose will take turns checking Battier and Allen. Nate Robinson, while diminutive and has some shot selection issues, has proven that he can be effective running the offense, hitting the long ball, and being an instant source of offense. He and Deng can be the second and third options behind Rose. This is a bit premature given Rose hasn't played a minute this season yet, but I think we can match up great in the playoffs.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) I would say that's a horrible description of him. He's shooting 53 percent from 3 and has been the best player on one k the best teams in the country. Ronnie Brewer and his non existent jump shot has zero to do with Oladipo. It's a fair comparison. He's shooting 53% but, making less than 1 three a game, in the past years, he shot 30% and 20% from the three. We all know the NBA range is not the same the college range. Derrick Williams shot an insane 57% from 3s a couple years ago, what is he doing now? If you must know, Ronnie Brewer shot almost 40% from 3s in one year in college with more makes than Oladipo. And there are other similarities in their game besides the jump shot.
  11. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 10:12 PM) Call this Hoosier fandom if you want, but I'd really like to see the Bulls draft Victor Oladipo. Plays with great energy, awesome defensively, relentless worker...the kinda guy who fans love right away. Like a smaller but quicker Jimmy Butler, I guess. If he continues to play like he has, Oladipo will probably end up in the later half of the first (though I did see one mock that had him as a late lottery pick). Sounds like a smaller version of Ronnie Brewer, athletic, good defensive two guard with no real jump shot. I rather the Bulls go for a scorer at the 2 or a backup defensive center to replace Mohammed.
  12. Is it too early to start the Free Jimmy rally?
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 27, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Rose, Rondo, & Rubio all tore their ACL in 12 months, brutal. Point guards with a "R" last name, watch out! Fortunately, Nate Robinson is not a point guard.
  14. Rajon Rondo will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Derrick Rose offers his deepest condolences.
  15. Part of me want Deng to be out a little longer so Jimmy Butler can get more minutes under his belt, and Deng can rest up his battle scars and be a little fresher when Rose comes back and the team could make a run at that point. I always had faith in Butler and he's finally getting a chance to prove himself. As a starter, he's averaging Deng-esque numbers with 15-9-3 with incredible efficiency. He's always been an efficient player, good rebounder, and solid defender. If he can continue to be aggressive on offense and improve on his jump shot, we have ourselves a very good STARTER.
  16. Thinking back to the summer when people say we need to include both Sale and Viceido + prospects in a trade for Upton is laughable. The package the Brave sent to AZ is extremely underwhelming. Prado is a nice player, but his WAR is inflated by his defense in LF. He's going to play 3rd the the DBacks, won't likely be a 5+ WAR player again. It makes me think that we could have gotten Upton for Viceido + one of Floyd/Quintana/Santiago plus mid level prospects. I would have done it in a hiccup.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) I'd bet that no matter what their eye tests saw, none of this would be going down if the Knights didn't have playoffs and the Sox were out of the race. It's pushing an inordinate number of roster moves and so now everyone's getting promoted to crazy spots to cover those positions. Exactly. Given Thompson is one of the prized prospects in our farm, the Sox would want to be cautious with him and give him more time to develop. But in this circumstance, he was the most logical prospect to get promoted to cover roster spots. In any case, 15 games isn't enough for anyone to prove that he's too good for that level from a stats or scouting evalution, especially given Thompson's track record for strikeouts. Unless Thompson goes Mike Trout next spring training, he will be back in Double A.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 09:53 AM) I'm arguing because I think you are misunderstanding how the evaluations work in these situations. 5 games or 14 games, whatever it is, in that small a scale, the numbers tell you very little. Its about how he looks there, and how ready he looks. It is also about getting him some high end post-season experience. The numbers he put up in some given 5 games, or even 14 games, doesn't really tell you enough by itself to be meaningful. That is what I am trying to tell you. I am sorry, but most of the daily prospection evaluations on this board is done through numbers. Why are you suggesting something here that no one has information on? Unless you are a scout or you watch all of Thompson's games, you wouldn't know "how ready he looks." Everyone who knows a thing about baseball knows that scouting in person is better than scouting by numbers, I don't think you need to tell me that. But the closest thing we have to scouting is how players make adjustment at a new level. Thompson's last 5 games suggests that Double A pitchers have made adjustments to him, but he hasn't made adjustments yet to the pitching. And yes, I, along with most other posters, am aware that this is a move for Thompson to get more playing time and playoff experience. That's why I said this isn't a long term promotion.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) No, I'm saying you don't know if he is or not. His numbers say he may or may not be, sort of hard to tell. But more so, I'm saying... what I said. Drawing conclusions from any 5 games is a bit ridiclous, one way or the other. And Shoemaker's promotion last year and this one for Thompson are not being done for the same reasons. I don't think you are getting the point. IF Thompson had been on a tear for all 14 of his games in Double AA, then an actual promotion to Triple A might be logical. But he played well for the first 8 or 9 games, then came back down to earth for the past 5 games, I am telling you that you don't actually promote him at this point, because he hasn't shown that he can make adjustment to the Double A pitching yet. Thompson might be closer to Triple A than Shoemaker was a few years back. In Shoemaker's instance, he was promoted to get some more playing time at the end of the season. It will be the same case for Thompson. I am telling you that the Sox has a history of using this tactic in the past, but they aren't actually promoting the players long term. Unless you truly believe Thompson is ready and this move is long term, then I think you are arguing for the sake of arguing.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 08:25 AM) We're comparing Thompson's promotion to Shoemaker's cup of coffee? Not really comparable players in terms of development, at all. And 5 games to make a determination? That makes it "apparent" that he's not ready? So what are you saying? Thompson is ready for Triple A?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) The only way it is long term is if he comes into spring training and hits enough to make the Sox put him there. The plan is to get him post season experience, which is exactly what Buddy Bell said about it. Right, that's what I am saying, he hasn't proved that he's ready. It will be a temporary move.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 07:33 AM) That is really micro-sampling things. That is the last 5 games out of the 14 games he played in AA where he struggled. But the point I am trying to make is that he is not ready for AAA, and it's apparent. He would basically jump from A to AAA if the promotion is long term.
  23. Nothing to see here. Brady Shoemaker was promoted to Triple A Charlotte at the end of the season after playing the whole season in Bristol a few years back. It's only a temporary move to get those guys some playing time. On top of that, Thompson has struggled mightily in Double A the past 5 games or so. It's almost a guarantee that Thompson will start next season in Double A and Hawkins will be in Kanny for a few months as well.
  24. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) Oh, the Floydster has ED. Viagra might be the solution. Get well Gavin. That explains why his stuff always comes and goes
  25. Jared Mitchell would be lucky to hit above .200 in Triple A
