  1. The obvious choice is Quintana.
  2. I would see how Castro performs in Triple A before I call him a top pitching prospect. The guy has been in Double A for three straight years, so it's not surprising that he's doing well. He was straight up atrocious in Triple A the past two years.
  3. I think we could do something like RealGM right here. http://forums.realgm.com/boards/index.php?...b8ec7c889b6a05d The first layer of the forum should be the sport of the forum, like SoxTalk, General Baseball Talk, Basketball Talk, Football Talk, etc, then move the Soxtalk sub forums into the Baseball Talk section, and then create sub forums for each sport forum. The front layer of the website would just be link to each sports forum. Since I think we still want Soxtalk as the flagship forum of the website, we could still leave the domain name of the home page as soxtalk.com, then and put Soxtalk forum in the first section on its own, and the subsequent sports forum in one section beneath it. Is this possible?
  4. Party over the internet? Are alcoholic beverages and strippers allowed?
  5. Bad news, Fukudome is rehabbing.
  6. Just saw the replay of the appeal, and interestingly, part of the reason Q was able to keep his pitch total down was the bizarre triple play in the 6th inning, where he got three outs with one pitch. Herrera was out on the Sac Fly, Treanor was out on leaving base early, and I believe Gordon was out for leaving the base amongst the confusion (?). That's gotta be the first of its kind.
  7. 49 RBIs for Thompson on the season, which is good for 3rd in the league, despite a hopeless .217 avg, pretty much an amazing feat.
  8. League average for strikeouts per game is on pace for a record high of 7.46 per game. If you look at a team like the Mets, who has FOUR starting pitchers who are close to 1 SO/Inn. Guys like Jason Hammel and RA Dickey, and even our boy Phil Humber who averaged closer to 0.5 SO/inn in the past are racking up strikeouts in bunches. Just proves again we are in the golden age of pitching
  9. Isler's deal @jimcallisBA Follow ‪#WhiteSox‬ ink 8th-rder Zach Isler for $136,600 (full pick value). This is a good reference for slot value. http://ht.ly/aYdTS
  10. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 11:13 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_...2208581&v=3 MLB has him as a Top Prospect. Silverio and Short also made the list. It's only the "top prospects" for the Sox.
  11. Anybody paying attention to Cyle Hankerd? I don't care he's 27 year old playing A ball. 8 HRs in 47 ABs is ridiculous.
  12. @Intimidators Jeff Soptic just hit 101mph on the radar gun. #ZOOM! #blinkandyoumissedit
  13. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 10:18 PM) Sox better spend entire allotment. If the Sox don't spend the entire allotment of their pool bonus in their first 10 rounds, they can spend the remaining amount of picks after round 10 on top of the $100,000 they are allowed to spend per pick. They just have to get those picks in the first 10 rounds signed, that's the key.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) Looks like both my wishes came true. While the comp pick might have been a slight reach, with the new draft rules I think it makes sense to be a little cautious this year. Our last couple of drafts had yield guys like Thompson, Mitchell, and Walker. Guys who are fairly young, and are tremendous athletes. Picks like Hawkins and Barnum are along the same line, albeit a bit younger. My pet peeve about the draft so far is both players could have serious contact issues, they could have more power and be just as good an athlete as Thompson, but if they are striking out once every three ABs, they will be more risk than reward. I am not going to pretend I know too much about other prospects, but I was hoping the Sox would nab a guy who can hit for great contact, and could just be average across other areas, something our organization is missing from top to bottom.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) Alot of our top guys are showing up tonight. Danks, Phegley, Mitchell, Wilkins all with good games. Hell, even Molina has pitched well so far. OT: Oh.. and Bradley, Barnes and Shaw are studs for the Red Sox. Damn them. And Xander Boggaerts whom you didn't mention is probably their best prospect
  16. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) and Hawkins actually hits 92 according to the scouting reports. and he's 18. 18 year olds never hit 98. Supposedly Buxton did
  17. Hmm... Big athletic Right Fielder with tremendous bat speed, but extremely raw as a contact hitter, where have we seen this before? I see the best case scenario as Giancarlo Stanto and the worst case scenario as the current state of Trayce Thompson.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) My question is, why the hell did Joe Maddon sit 3 of his best hitters today? I know that Sale's lefty and those hitters are lefties, but you shouldn't take 3 of your best guys out of the lineup. That just seems a little excessive. Maybe he was trying to give them Memorial day off or something, lol. And Maddon is known for employing the "John Danks Theory", where you load up your lineup with lefties against left handed pitchers because they can hit the changeup better. This lineup today is definitely out of the norm for him.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 25, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) How is that bursting any bubbles? We all knew that, it was posted here, and in yesterday's thread. The fact that you mentioned Kuhn is back at leadoff, but that was only a continuation of an earlier game, in which he batted lead off. As of now, Golson is still batting lead off everyday.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 25, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) JorDanks drawing a lot of walks, putting up decent overall hitting results. Still Has a K/PA around 25% though. Kuhn continues to turn it around, and they are batting him leadoff in some games now. Kyle Bellamy looks ready for AA. People have forgotten him, but, he may have something to offer now that he's back and healthy. Leighton Pangilinan somehow managed to make 3 errors playing 1B, has 7 on the season already. I am bursting your bubbles but that was a continuation game from May 4th
  21. I am more happy that we are in the hunt for first place with only Cleveland to beat. That team is due for a regression like last year.
  22. Axelrod has dominated the minors for the past three seasons, and has more than held his own in this big league callups despite his below average stuff. I really REALLY would like to see him pitch for an extended period of time in the big leagues this season.
  23. Walters and Heidenreich with perfect games going through five.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 12, 2012 -> 08:35 AM) Keenyn Walker's last 8 games, hitting .320, .469 OBP, 7-for-8 in steal attempts, and more walks than K's. Ravelo continues to do pretty well for a 20-year-old. I still can't find any info on his D though. Until he can show some power in his bat, he will be another Jon Gilmore type prospect
