  1. yes.. i'll got a step further. He deserves 2 more starts at the big league level.
  2. Did anyone here ever see that Simpsons episode where Krusty the Clown runs for Congressman? I love the part where he goes on Fox News for a debate.. They put devils horns on the Democratic candidate.. the ticket at the bottom was hilarious too. Here's how a Simpsons fan website describes it.. For those of you unfamiliar with the episode in question, Krusty the Clown is running for Congress (as a Republican) and debates his opponent on Fox News. It's a classic: [Cue the classic split screen: and when the Fox News cameras showed Krusty, the American flag was behind him; when it panned to his Democratic opponent, the background was a Soviet flag, and devil?s horns were superimposed on the poor D's head.] Fox News Announcer: Welcome to Fox News, your voice for evil. Tonight, we?ll be interviewing the top two candidates for Springfield?s 24th Congressional district. For the Republicans, beloved children?s entertainer, Krusty the Clown. And for the Democrats, this guy. Democrat Candidate: Hey, I have a name. Fox News Anchor: Yes, I?m sure you do, comrade. I do appreciate your being here. You?re usually so mired in sleaze, it must be an effort to come down to the studio. Krusty: May I say something? Fox News Anchor: Certainly, Congressman. Democrat: He hasn?t won yet! Fox News Anchor: You make a very adulterous point. We?ll now conclude this debate with a Krusty campaign commercial. [Cue Commercial] Further, as the debate is proceeding, a ticker that resembles the one Fox uses is crawling along the bottom of the screen with the following: "Pointless news crawls up at 37 percent. ... Do Democrats cause cancer? Find out at Foxnews.com. ... Rupert Murdoch: Terrific Dancer. ... Dow down 5000 points. ... Study: 92 percent of Democrats are gay. ... JFK posthumously joins Republican Party. ... Oil slicks found to keep seals young, supple. ... Dan Quayle: Awesome."
  3. Ladies and Gentleman... I present the Republican South! Sorry I couldn't lay-off this joke.
  4. If everything holds steady.. (No rainouts) the expected pitching matchups for the Sox/Cubs series is... Game 1- Garland vs Prior Game 2- Schoenweis vs Zambrano Game 3- Loaiza vs Maddux My early predictions.. Game 1- Sox 4 Cubs 3 Game 2- Cubs 7 Sox 2 Game 3- Sox 3 Cubs 1
  5. for the 3 game series with Atlanta. Pretty impressive.
  6. the decision here is who helps him win what? My guess is that Edwards would help him win North Carolina and Gephardt may help him win Missouri. What does Clark help him win? Arkansas?
  7. say federal income tax.. who would that affect more? the people in Indiana or the people in California?
  8. it is funny seeing how much of our lives are determined by imaginary lines in the ground dividing states, counties, cities, etc. As for the California example with 13.3 mil votes cast dwarfing that of Indiana.. I askout this question. Each decision that a President makes, each law that is passed... does it affect more people in California or Indiana?
  9. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...tinfavorofkerry Could 2004 be the same as in 2000.. where most of the people in the country vote for Kerry but Bush wins by the electoral vote? On a side note, I've be griping for years (prior to 2000) that we need to eliminate the electoral college. If anything, it dis-courages people to vote. Say you are a Democrat in Indiana or a Republican in New York... what's your incentive to vote in the Presidential election? Mathmatically the electoral college actually allows a vote in Kansas or Montana to count for a higher % of the outcome than a vote in California or New York. Is it right that certain people's votes are counted for more than others?
  10. I think Kennedy's great accomplishment was what he chose not to do, rather than what he did. Think of the grave consequences had GW Bush been President during the Cuban Missle Crisis rather than Kennedy. Every Administration has its "hawks" it's up to the President on how and when to listen to them.
  11. i'm going to see it too. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
  12. wow.. that makes for an extra 328,941 people per year. At $20 per ticket that= $6,578,820.. KW Go spend that $6.5 mil on a 5th starter!!!
  13. Koch couldn't close out my 7 yr old nephew's t-ball game.
  14. i think called Reagan a hero is a bit of a stretch too. Hamilton was one of our founding fathers and helped establish the backbone of our government. On a side note.. we haven't had a Presidential Hero since Kennedy.
  15. "Meanwhile, a new Gallup Poll out today shows some movement toward Kerry, who led Bush, 50 to 44 percent, among likely voters. When Ralph Nader is factored in, Kerry led 49 to 43 percent, with Nader at 5 percent. The poll shows Bush's approval and disapproval ratings tied at 49 percent. He received troubling numbers on his handling of the economy and Iraq, but better numbers on his overall handling of terrorism."
  16. i agree with Steff. It's very easy for those to cast "moral authorities" over topics and issues that have never affected their lives. Let's see Bush and other conservatives act when it's their daughter or granddaughter that unfortunately gets raped and gets pregnant. What will be their position then?
  17. wouldn't putting Reagan on the $10 bill be a slap in the face to Alexander Hamilton? Heck, I want Bill Clinton on the $200 bill.

    Flag Facts

im sure im going to ignite some fires here.. but what's the big deal about the flag? aren't the people and society behind the flag that's important? just asking.
  19. at this point, if he's not your closer and you have no confidence in him.. why not release him outright? I don't care if you have to cover his salary for the rest of the year.. if you're not going to use him, then lose him. He's got a bad attitutde. (remember his fight with Frank last yr) The rest of the team probably can't stand him, he's nothing but a downer on the team. We already have a guy in the bullpen who is used in mop-up roles (Cliff Politte) why not release Koch and bring up Wuensch. At least we can use him!
  20. Everyone is talking about Shingo as the closer. At this point I'm up for giving him a shot. However why not give Marte a shot? Takatsu 3-0 1.27ERA 21.1IP 16K 0.80WHIP Marte 1-2 2.82ERA 22.1IP 15K 1.07WHIP
  21. right now I trade Joe Borchard for Anna Benson! Nice.
