  1. If the Sox sign Archer, I’ll throw up. The injury he’s returning has a history of ending pitchers careers. He won’t make it through 162 game season.
  2. Worrying about your payroll 4+ years out is how you end up with only 6 postseason appearances in 39 years of ownership. Amazing 25 other teams can figure out how to to hand out $100M+ contracts to players and make it work.
  3. I think this is definitely it. They are trying to get a cheap, under control, and high reward guy they long wanted while giving up assets that won't immediately impact the current window. I don't think they will get him unless Hahn caves. The Brewers have no need to trade him at this time. If JR would open his pocket books, I could probably stomach trading Vaughn if they went out and got a guy like Ozuna to hold down DH.
  4. People also forget that Kopech went through a divorce while expecting a child. I won't pass judgement on him, as it certainly seemed like there were some person issues going on around the time the season started to ramp back up. Add that into an uncertain role and concerns with his post TJ return, I don't blame him for taking the time off. My biggest concern is the lack of track record of guys taking this much extended time off and living up to their potential. I honestly can't think of anyone in a similar past situation having success. Last thing I want is for the Sox to have their own version of Alex Reyes on the team.
  5. Finally was able to give this a listen. This was excellent.
  6. Great move for the Sox.
  7. I’m pretty convinced it’s all the same person. It’s also possible that they very well could get an occasional bit of legitimate info. They obviously inject their own opinion into things though to keep things interesting and the rumor relevant. There’s no way the Sox would allow the amount of info they claim to have leak at the rate it does. I’m just surprised at the amount of people that believe whatever they tweet as gospel. I enjoy the rumors strictly as something to pass the time, but I totally doubt their legitimacy.
  8. And of course the foodies rolled back their claim, saying that the Sox had shifted gears and Q’s price dropped. I tend to not believe the Sox were in on him as much as it was suggested. They could have matched $8M and I bet Q had an interest in returning. Q’s agent would have absolutely checked back in with the Sox at $8M.
  9. I lean towards LaStella. He's essentially a left handed Madrigal with more pop. Dude walks a ton too. Might have some pull too with his supposed relationship with LaRussa. If not him, I'd entertain the thought of checking in on Semien and his willingness (or unwillingness) to move to 2B.
  10. Sign a 2B since you just traded your's away, hahaha
  11. There's no way that's enough. I think if the Sox aren't moving Vaughn, Kopech, Crochet, (maybe) Cease, then Kelley has to be the big piece.
  12. I really wanted Springer on this team, but I did not expect him to fetch quite this much. I would have expected him to end up with something around the Mets rumored offer.
  13. Trading Cease for Burnes almost makes no sense to me. It doesn't solve the rotation and forces the Sox to go get another starter.
  14. Hell no to Archer. He was diagnosed with thoracic outlet sydrome.
  15. Ok, starting to think this Burnes stuff is legit...
  16. It's WAY too premature to call Burnes a better pitcher than Giolito. However, despite his small sample size, his is stuff is quite elite.
  17. Josh is a good Twitter follow, but he doesn't have sources.
  18. Almost seems too good to be true. Unless that third guy is Kelley.
  19. That would be smart, but JR isn't going to allow something like that.
  20. Agreed. Bailey has no loud tools other than being fundamentally sound, and Stiever hurt his value last season by not coming close to his reported 97+ mph.
  21. I highly doubt this is happening. That Reddit thread isn't convincing in the slightest. Madrigal also doesn't make much sense for the Brewers despite Hiura being a bad fielder. If this actual did happen, I wonder if they would get creative like the Musgrove trade and bring in a 3rd team that maybe wanted Madrigal for themselves?
