  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 10:33 AM) What do you call jumping on a player after he has been tackled? He didn't do anything to crazy, but we all know what Shea had in mind when he jumped on Rodgers. Eh, I don't know. He really just kind of fell on him and seemed to be trying to pull up. If he was trying to hurt him he would have actually laid a shoulder into him. I didn't really care for the call. I would have been pissed as a Packer fan if it were switched around and the Packers were getting penalized.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 10:25 AM) Lyndsay Petruny ‏@LPetruny 1h RT @Redskins: #Redskins announced that they have relieved Executive Vice President/Head Coach Mike Shanahan of his duties with the team. ESPN Stats & Info ‏@ESPNStatsInfo 1h Mike Shanahan head coaching career: With Elway: 47-17. 2 Super Bowl rings. Without Elway: 123-121. 1 playoff game win. Elway helped make that man a lot of money.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 10:21 AM) He open hand punched the guy in the helmet right in front of the ref, i dont see how that was ridiculous First of all, an open handed punch does not exist. That would be called a slap. And this "open handed punch" occurred right after he was "open handed punched" first. Just play on. It does not warrant 15 yards.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 10:16 AM) That call was so huge. That is three points there. Though none outweigh the seven points the defense gave away by running past a live football. It's not like it was 3 free points. The Packers would have been kicking a field goal either way, it just would have been a 50 yarder instead of a 33 yarder. Even with the conditions, the way Crosby has kicked this year he would have had a reasonable shot to make it.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 10:08 AM) The unnecessary roughness call on Shea was a total crock of s*** too. I couldn't believe that. The Packers played better and ultimately deserved the win, but the refs called that game in favor of the Packers. It probably was a bad call, but that's the NFL these days. If you hit a QB at all after the play you're gonna get penalized. We'll just call that a wash for the ridiculous unnecessary roughness called on the Packers on the opening kickoff. There were only I think 5 or 6 penalties combined all game so it was pretty obvious they were just going to let them play.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 08:37 AM) Shanahan and Frazier given their walking papers No big surprise on either, but it did seem like Frazier had a lot of support from his players. I would have given him another year.
  7. Wisconsin now 13-0 heading into Big Ten play. Best start in 100 years for the Badgers.
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 27, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) Currently #3 All-Time Needs p straight makes to be #1 Much like all the passing/receiving records, all the kicking records are going to be broken in the coming years. NFL kickers of today are just on a completely different level than they were even 10-15 years ago.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 27, 2013 -> 01:12 PM) @ChicagoBears LM: #Bears have re-signed kicker Robbie Gould to 4-year contract extension through 2017 season. Not a Bears fan, but that's kind of a no-brainer move. Guy is pretty damn good.
  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 27, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) I think some of it is the DH issue. Some voters still are biased against it. I kind of understand some of the reservations of putting a DH in the hall, but I just don't see how they use it to penalize Frank. I mean he did play almost 1000 games at 1B and the reason he's going to the Hall is because of the numbers he put up as a first basemen. I'm sure a lot of the writers who don't vote for Frank will be quick to vote for Rivera and he only pitched one inning every couple games.
  11. QUOTE (Nyx81 @ Dec 27, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Bears announcement coming soon. Heard on espn1000. Cutler extension? Hopefully they signed him to a 20 year deal for eleventy billion dollars.
  12. I realize that only a small sample size of votes has been made available, but I just don't understand how Glavine can get that much more support than Frank. I always thought he was a bit overrated and Frank was clearly the more dominant of the two players.
  13. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 27, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) Eh. Quarless is a nice back up and Bostick is still just a project. Ebron could be the next Vernon Davis. A combo of Quarless and Bostick is all the Packers need with their deep WR core. I could see maybe using a 3rd or 4th round pick on a TE, but not a first round at this point. I would guess that Ebron will be a late 1st, early 2nd round pick.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 27, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) I think Lacy's durability in the NFL will be something to watch. He is a force, but already he has had issues with health. Guys that are built like he is (compact, brick s***house) tend to look amazing for a few years and then fall off a cliff. Who knows though, he could be the next Bettis That pretty much applies to all running backs. Once a RB hits 30, he's ancient.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 27, 2013 -> 11:32 AM) I would love to see this Packers offense next year with a healthy TE. I would guess they are gonna let Finley go and draft someone else. I don't think the Packers will use a high draft pick on a TE. They're pretty high on both Quarless and Bostick. I have to think the first few rounds will be all about defense. More than likely trying to shore up the secondary.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 27, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) I would honestly and truly take all of the non-Cutler Bears skill guys mentioned over the non-Rodgers Packers skill guys. About 10 or 12 weeks ago, I would have taken Jordy Nelson over Alshon. Lacy is pretty exciting, but he's no Matt Forte. Maybe if we were factoring salary into the equation, we'd have an argument for him. How about the fact that Forte is 5 years older? No way I would take a 28 year old Forte over a 23 year old Lacy. At 28, Forte's got what, maybe 3 good years left? I would also want no part of the drama that comes along with Marshall. I don't care how good he is.
  17. QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 26, 2013 -> 02:14 PM) GB is -3. Looks like a gift even though the Bears are at home. Is that the line pre or post the Rodgers announcement?
  18. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 26, 2013 -> 02:08 PM) Rodgers is what puts your group over, our O weapons other than QB spot are just as dangerous as yours. This game may very well go down to whose D steps up more. Unfortunately for us, our D is historically bad while GB's just sucks. I pretty much agree with that. Though if I were to draft one player out of those groups besides Rodgers, give me Cobb over everybody. I don't think we've even seen half of what he's capable of yet.
  19. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 26, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) Aside from Rodgers, I still take Marshall, Jeffrey(ies), Forte, MBennet. Rodgers, Cobb, Nelson, Jones and Lacy vs Cutler, Marshall, Jeffrey, Forte and Bennett? I'm taking Rodgers and Co. every time.
  20. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 26, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) I call it finishing a tackle Payback for Martin/McMahon is long overdue... What does the Martin/McMahon incident have to do with this game? Oh yea, absolutely nothing. It was more than 25 years ago. Jim McMahon went on to win another Super Bowl ring with the Packers and Charles Martin is dead. I think that issue has been more than settled.
  21. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 26, 2013 -> 01:45 PM) Not only Shea, the whole Bears defense should try to break Rodgers, not through a dirty play but every time you have a chance at Rodgers, you make sure you drive him to the ground. Driving a QB to the ground IS a dirty play and a 15 yard penalty according to NFL rules. Here's an idea, why not just try to win the game without purposely trying to injure somebody?
  22. McCarthy makes it official. Rodgers is starting vs the Bears.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 26, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) I think new guy's posts are as long as all of Balta's put together. The new guy might be the best poster on the site, but I'll never know because I skip any post longer than a couple short paragraphs.
  24. Rodgers operating as the first team QB in practice today during the portion open to the media.
  25. QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) you guys beat the falcons and the cowboys and now that means winning the division? nope. and you will be lucky to make the playoffs half the time during rodgers career. Heard the same nonsense with favre after the late 90s run. You are probably bummed that Rodgers is such a quitter. Favre led Packers teams made the playoffs in 11 of his 16 seasons. Thats pretty damn good. Right now this division is a toss up. You guys need to quit pretending like your Bears is good. They are a slightly better than average team at best. They have a solid offense but a horrid defense. Old man Briggs aint gonna magically turn it around. Even with Flynn in, the Packers have a very realistic shot at winning the division.
