I think a starting pitcher and a hitter are 1 and 1a. Since the DH position is open, just get the best hitter they can and work out the best defensive arrangement once that hitter is in the mix. Picking up a reliever and a second hitter are priorities 2 and 3.

Either win or lose against FSU at their best, and then accept the ranking that actually reflects their team's performance. If ND isn't good enough to beat FSU with Winston, then they aren't good enough to beat the SEC Champion in the playoff, and I'd rather go win the Orange Bowl than get blown out in a playoff game. That said, if Winston is suspended for some reason, I'm still rooting for ND to win of course.

DeAza is streaky. He will have months that, projected over a full season, would make him a 5.0 WAR player. He will also have months that, if projected over a full season, would make him a -4.0 WAR player. The Orioles are just lucky that this October is a hot month for him.
