Joe West the worst ump in basebal, statistically speaking

Some things don't need that level of statistical analysis to be believed. -

I guess so. Both looked pretty dominant yesterday. Imagine if they are both 11-0 going into the Egg Bowl. -

It's a rule that's right there in black and white. You aren't allowed to hit the snapper until he has moved from his spot. There were at least a dozen worse calls in the game affecting both sides. -
There is a huge, huge difference between baiting law enforcement and/or other government officials into reacting a certain way and baiting asshole Cardinals fans into reacting a certain way.

The kid fired three shots before being shot himself, but his family is insisting that the police mistook his sandwich for a gun, so the sandwich must have fired the shots.

I'm sure they're s***ty.

I'm 99.99999% certain that won't happen.

Yes, but the league needs to step in and negotiate an exit there. With all the high paid lawyers the league has, they ought to be able to find some leverage somewhere. -
Clearly teams who are in the middle of the pack have no shot at making the World Series. Robin should be fired immediately for not stealing a lot more or a lot fewer bases.

I don't think there will end up being a deal for Q available that makes sense. I would require: 1) Other team takes Danks and his full salary in addition to Q 2) Return is a position player who is a top 5 hitter at his position and is under team control for at least 3 years, plus one of the 20 best starting pitching prospects. That is probably more than another team would be willing to do, but that's what I would demand.

Too bad the LA area doesn't have any actual football stadiums they could use while the new stadium is built. -

Utah by themselves has the potential to totally wreck ND's schedule strength. I'm not really worried though. Schedule strength is not going to keep a 12-0 ND team out of the playoff nor get a 10-2 team in. The only time it will matter is if ND ends up 11-1, and while getting in the playoff would be nice, unless the loss at FSU is very close I don't see what benefit there is in playing them again. -

For the record, I really, really hope that I'm wrong, but I have this terrible feeling that the final committee rankings will very closely resemble a composite of the two major polls. -

I think the committee will be heavily influenced by the rankings. -

I'm not saying what would necessarily be fair, I'm saying how I think the rankings will turn out. Right now MSU is #8 and OU is #11, and if ND loses to FSU they will fall behind both those teams. Baylor may fall behind ND after losing to OU, but maybe not. Generally with the 1-loss teams, the earlier in the season you lose, the higher you are ranked. That is why MSU is in prime position right now. It doesn't really matter how good they actually are. -

Well, I essentially predicted no losses for any of the top 10 teams except to each other, which we all know isn't how it will turn out, but I didn't want to pick specific upsets. I really just wanted to start some conversation aside from the last two pages on who should be Illinois' next coach. Baylor does play at Oklahoma, TCU has to play at Baylor and all three of them get Oklahoma State at home (what a s***ty draw for them) so all three going 11-1 is not out of the question. -

OK, trying to find something to discuss aside from the next coach at Illinois. My projections for the playoffs/major bowls: Sugar Bowl/Playoff: #1 Florida State (13-0) vs. #4 Michigan State (12-1) Rose Bowl/Playoff: #2 Mississippi (12-1) vs. #3 Alabama (11-1) Cotton Bowl: #5 Oklahoma (11-1) vs. #8 Notre Dame (11-1) Orange Bowl: #6 Auburn (10-2) vs. Georgia Tech (10-3) [Orange Bowl is contractually obligated to take an ACC team] Fiesta Bowl: #7 Baylor (11-1) vs. #10 Oregon (11-2) Peach Bowl: #9 TCU (11-1) vs. #12 East Carolina (11-1) -
Well, I am officially rooting for the AL in the World Series regardless of which combination of teams gets there.

Deadline to extend QO is five days after the end of the World Series, and the deadline to accept is seven days after that. -
A better agent would have gotten Rodon that extra $584.99.

I don't think that Memphis has enough of a history of winning to have their coach picked up by a program that is in the top half of a major conference. Memphis really isn't in the category of teams like BYU, Boise St., Central Florida, Cincinnati or East Carolina that have been good for several years. A Memphis coach is going to have to succeed at a better mid-major school or a lower tier power conference school before getting a shot at the big time. Illinois is the kind of school that is going to be interested in a Memphis coach, and given the vulnerability of the Big Ten right now, it's a better gig than someplace like Kansas, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest or Colorado. -
Not a lot of value? Did you not read my promotion idea?
