I was speaking from an ND standpoint. ND factuly/staff/alums will not have a high level of interest in this game and I shouldn't have problems getting tickets if you aren't able to get them through Miami. -

There will be six home games plus the Shamrock series game. Known home opponents so far for 2017 are Georgia, Miami, USC, NC State and Navy. Georgia and USC are going to be the highest demand games out of those five. There is also one more home ACC opponent yet to be announced, and there's a good chance that's going to be Florida State. Yes, I get that Miami has more name recognition than the standard MAC team, but I still think it will be a low demand game. Lots of faculty/staff will be selling off that game from their season tickets, and alumni who only requested Miami in the lottery as a backup plan but actually got Georgia/USC tickets will also be selling. -

Let me know if you need help with tickets. Can usually get tickets for unranked opponents at face value. -

One guy Illinois should definitely not pursue is Brian VanGorder. In fact, nobody should pursue him. -
I did not participate in message boards of any kind until 2005, and not on this one until well after that, but I've heard bits and pieces of the story about this guy. Would love to hear the full story, or is this a taboo topic?

From 1969 through 1985, Baltimore made the ALCS 7 times and Kansas City 6 times, yet they never faced each other.

Even if he does come back as a coach, I think it would be much more likely to be in Arizona than Chicago.

If I had to guess the final SEC West standings, I would say: Mississippi 7-1 Alabama 7-1 Auburn 6-2 Mississippi St. 5-3 Texas A&M 5-3 So yeah, I might consider a few bucks on Mississippi at 33/1. -

I think that, barring an upset in the SEC Championship game, the top two teams in the SEC West get playoff spots, with one of those two potentially having two losses. I think the FSU-ND winner gets one, and the last one is up for grabs among the Big 12, Big 10 and Pac-12 champions. -
So the Tigers got swept, Michigan is 2-4, and the Lions lost. What a weekend for Detroit! (Throw in a horrible race by Brad K if you happen to follow NASCAR.)

Wasn't conclusive. Looked like his hands got under the ball. Don't buy everything the announcers feed you. Was a pretty brutal hit to Golson's head that didn't get called though. -

Only the Bears can screw up a special teams play that bad. Why did they ever let Dave Toub go? -

Can't be traded before June anyway, can he? Or did that rule get changed? -
On top of that Zimmerman really got squeezed on that 2 out walk in the top of the 9th.

No kidding. Stanford guy hit Golson right in the head on that forced fumble. Should have been +15 and a first down instead of turning into a Stanford TD. -
I hear last month people were getting really good deals on jewelry in Ferguson.

2022 winter games losing bidders
cabiness42 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Summer games leave behind much more useful infrastructure than a winter games. As others have mentioned, WTF do you do with a bobsled/luge run? Summer games leaves behind stadiums and arenas that can be used for lots of purposes. Still, I think hosting a Summer games is much more beneficial for a mid size city like Atlanta or Indianapolis than a large city like NY or Chicago. -
If one of the two best available bats is a 2B or 3B, there's no reason not to pursue those guys. Sanchez is not yet a proven commodity and Gillaspie can easily slide to DH. The only position it really makes sense to stay away from is SS, unless there is a good trade offer for Alexei.
-
Yes, ideally you want one outfielder and one infielder, but if you get two OF you can move Garcia to DH and if you get two IF you can move Semien to LF and Gillaspie to DH, so you aren't talking about high stress position changes here.
-
I don't think position should be a primary concern for the Sox. Acquire the two best hitters they can within their budget, and then figure out where everybody plays. Gillaspie can move from 3B to DH, Semien can play any IF position plus possibly LF, and Garcia could potentially move to DH, all depending on what positions the two new guys play.

The Sox are in the process of acquiring all the left-handed pitchers, so how their hitters fare against lefties will be irrelevant once Spring Training intrasquad games are over.
