  1. Yes, I think the theory is that 2 weekday games vs Cubs plus 3 weekend games vs Royals nets more attendance than 3 weekday games vs Royals and 2 weekend games vs Cubs.
  2. Must be some kind of frontal boundary between here and there, because here it was upper 80s during the day and upper-lower 70s during the game. I'm not THAT much farther south that there should be that much temperature difference.
  3. I think it will happen within the next 10-15 years.
  4. It happened last night. You just said so yourself.
  5. There are a lot of BIG alums in the NY-DC corridor. Having the tournament in DC or NJ once every 3-4 years is fine.

  7. Oh yeah, I forgot these are 2 game series.

  9. Pitcher is in the lineup, so there's a really good chance he gets a PH appearance in both games.
  10. The 10:30 ET NBA games are both in the Pacific Time Zone, so they are 7:30 local, and I understand having regular season games that late, but the playoffs are supposed to be attracting a national viewing audience, and you aren't getting very many people in the Eastern/Central Time Zones (which is like 3/4 of the population) watching a game that late. Especially on a Saturday, when you have all freaking day to show games. Yes, I get that 8:30 local time is irritating for Hawks/Wild fans, but the game before theirs is in the Eastern Time Zone so if they don't want the games overlapping then 9:30 Eastern is really the earliest they can have the second game.
  11. Dunn's offensive value >> Danks' defensive value.
  12. Or, you know, they could just announce the pick as soon as it's made, but that would be too simple.
  13. Better than the NBA, scheduling games both Friday and Saturday nights to start at 10:30 ET.
  14. They have to do it for at least one game, if not both.
  15. What has turned me off from watching the draft more than anything is the five minutes from the time the team makes a pick to the time it is announced, so that the networks can get in commercials and the talking heads can get through all of their material on the last pick. If they announced all picks within a minute of the actual pick, I'd be more inclined to watch. As it stands, I'll watch the first 2-3 picks, then switch over to something else (probably the Sox game since they are on WGN Thursday) until about 2-3 picks before the Bears pick.
  16. This game is on TWO channels and neither of them is WGN? f*** that!
  17. So you're saying if the Cubs were a division rival you would care more? Hmm . . .
  18. There are more people in Canada than in Boston. I figure it would make up the difference. Yes I know that the Canadian TV contract is separate from NBC, but I'm talking about overall viewers. EDIT: Also, the Lakers, Knicks, and Bulls either didn't get into or are already eliminated from the NBA playoffs, so that should boost ratings in those US cities even more.
  19. I'm less into the Sox/Cubs game because there has been so much roster turnover, I don't even think I could name four guys on the Cubs roster. It's harder to hate guys you don't know.
  20. This sounds like a guy who they intend to keep on the roster until Eaton is back and then send him packing.
  21. Hockey's final four could involve teams from the three largest US cities and the second largest Canadian city. If that wouldn't pull big TV ratings, nothing will.
  22. Five weeks ago I'd have never imagined there was any possible way I would ever say this, but I think Viciedo should bat second. Has a 15/10 K/BB ratio and a .410 OBP. If you just looked at those numbers and didn't see the name beside them you'd be begging to have the guy bat second. Eaton 8 Viciedo 9 Abreu 3 Dunn DH Ramirez 5 Flowers 2 Semien 5 De Aza 7 Beckham 4 Move Nieto down to 9th when he plays.
