Is Adam Dunn necessarily a goner after this year?
cabiness42 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Or both. He could be traded and be back next year. -
Sox website listed Carrasco. Tribe website lists Salazar. I have changed it to Salazar. Either way, somebody with an ERA over 6 is starting for them.

John Danks (L) 2-1, 3.48 Danny Salazar ( R ) 0-3, 6.04 Full lineups later.

OK, well ND is going to play MSU. I plan to be on hand to watch my alma mater kick my alma mater's ass. -

I would love to see ND play MSU, but with the season ND had last year, I'm guessing Penn State or Northwestern are more likely matchups. -

At some point in the future, when I am no longer employed by the government, I will tell you guys some stuff that will blow your minds. -
No, in the US, when a mayor smokes crack on video, he goes to prison for six months, and then gets re-elected mayor after getting out of prison.

So my last 24 hours: Yesterday, 2:45 - Boss calls my office to set up meeting for 3:30, despite the fact that I am off. 3:15 - Boss calls again, wondering why I haven't returned his call Today, 7:45 - I call boss to remind him that I was off yesterday. He isn't in yet, though he supposedly starts work at 7:30 8:05 - Boss returns call and sets up meeting with me in my office for 1:00 12:55 - Boss calls to push meeting back to 1:30 1:35 - Boss calls to tell me he's just leaving his office (2 blocks away). 1:45 - Boss arrives and tells me he needs to talk to <co-worker> for 5 minutes. 2:25 - Boss comes out of <co-worker>'s office, over to mine, to tell me that we are going to take the weekly 2:30 conference call in <co-worker>'s office. I tell him that I am unaware of weekly 2:30 conference call. Boss realizes that he was supposed to have me be a part of weekly 2:30 conference call for the past 2 months but hasn't. Boss tells me not to bother with conference call and that he will fill me in when it is over at 3:15. And my friends still wonder why I don't want to work here anymore.

This is already pretty much a throwaway game with Noesi starting. Surprised they didn't go ahead and give Ramirez, Abreu, Flowers and De Aza days off.

2016 Summer Olympics preparations 'worst' seen
cabiness42 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The problem is that we are now 28 months away, and that isn't enough time to build much of anything. The only city that might be able to pull it off without substantial construction is LA. but then if you are going to take the unprecedented step of moving the Olympics 2 years out, then you might as well do the also-unconventional thing of splitting the events among several cities. Have track/field in LA, swimming/diving in Indianapolis, basketball in Chicago, etc. -
That was about 1 inning his last outing.

Just stick them inside a uterus. Then you can kill them in all kinds of torturous ways with no problem.

Will Sox be buyers, not sellers, at the trade deadline?
cabiness42 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Regardless of position, the Sox have to listen to offers on Dunn, but the price now is a lot higher than it was a month ago. -
2016 Summer Olympics preparations 'worst' seen
cabiness42 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Actually, a main Olympic Stadium, usually used for track/field, is one of the hardest things to find. Most NFL/NCAAFB stadiums do not have enough field square footage for an Olympic track. There is permanent seating too close to the end zones. I don't think the LA Coliseum has been significantly modified since 1984, so it may be suitable for that. Most cities will have sufficient venues for basketball, gymnastics, and soccer, and most cities have a convention center than can be easily modfied for the "minor" sports like judo, table tennis, etc. Another challenge would be finding suitable rowing and kayaking courses. -

So which US city ends up bailing out the IOC and organizes an Olympics in less than 2 years? -

I guess that depends on whether or not your definition of "best place to live" is impacted by tax rates, government corruption, or cost of living.

I don't think that being in contention will make the Sox buyers, but it may make them non-sellers. -
I would set the over/under for Abreu's final voting rank at 3.5

Even for the biggest spenders, that's a lot of money to tie up on two hitters who both have to play either 1B or DH.
-
Biggest spending teams already had 1B under huge contracts: Yankees - Teixeira Dodgers - Gonzalez Angels - Pujols Tigers - Cabrera
