Despite the team's decent start, I think management is still looking at this as a rebuilding year, so they aren't going to just eat his contract just because Semien or LGarcia would be a marginal upgrade, especially now that Gillaspie is back and Semien will have to go to AAA to get more playing time anyway.
If the Sox are somehow in playoff contention in July and Keppinger is just wasting a roster spot, then would be the time to consider just dumping him.
I like the pick too. Even as bad as the Bears need defense, I wouldn't have minded Martin. I think he was a steal at that spot. Going to be a very good G for a long time.
That was the ONE team I didn't want him going to. Man these other teams are stupid. Manziel won't be better than Teddy. Bortles might be a little bit better but not at the cost of pick 3 vs pick 32.
I've never heard of somebody being told that they were third. A couple times I got told I was 2nd, but other than that I just get told I didn't get the job.
No, I don't live close enough to go to this, but I have consumed beer in the middle of the field of a large stadium before and wanted to add that it is a great experience.
OK, I decided to answer my own question. I used the point chart from NBC Sports.
Bears 14th pick = 1100 points
Jets 18th pick = 900 points
Jets 80th pick (Rd 3) = 190 points
Jets 209th pick (Rd 6 compensatory) = 7.8 points, total of 1097.8 points
I guess if you go "by the book" that would be the deal.
Team ERA is based on the total innings pitched by the team. Jones getting an out doesn't move the team ERA any more or any less than any other pitcher getting an out.
Jones getting an out moves HIS ERA much more than any other pitcher getting an out.
Yeah my plan tonight is to watch the Sox game and then flip over to ESPN/NFLN during commercials to catch up on the last 1-2 picks. If the Bears get on the clock during a point in the Sox game where Abreu isn't due up, I may actually miss a couple minutes of the Sox game to catch the Bears pick.
I also like Kasper. He's very knowledgeable and he has enough excitement about his team that he's not dull but not so much excitement that he drives you nuts.
Well, the Sox have had 7 players on the DL (just went back to 6 with Gillaspie coming back), so that's 7 AAA players that were on the Sox, which means 7 AA players at Charlotte, and 7 A players at Birmingham.
Danks didn't need to be outrighted, he was optioned, and I think that's the big reason why he went down instead of Sierra. They can send Danks to AAA but Sierra would have to go on waivers and may not make it through.
