  1. Yes, in a perfect world that's what happens, but it's nearly impossible for the NCAA to verify whether or not boosters/alumni have "had their ties cut". No doubt that continuing sanctions are not a fair way to punish the transgressions, but it's the only real leverage the NCAA has.
  2. If it's purely an internal issue, then yes. A lot of the "payment scandals" involve boosters/alumni, so I think those penalties need to stick in order to deter further occurrences.
  3. Penn State got rid of everybody who was involved in the cover up and settled with the victims. I have no problems with the NCAA rewarding the behavior of those left behind to clean up the mess.
  4. Remember, that's a composite of four separate rankings. Only one of the four (CBS) actually ranked the seven 3-0 teams all in the top seven. Three of the four did have Cincy ahead of both Miami and Kansas City, and one also had them ahead of New Orleans.
  5. No disagreement from me. I think they're the most overrated team on the list.
  6. Composite of Power Rankings from ESPN, FOX, CBS and NBC: 1 DEN 2 SEA 3 NE 4 NO 5 CHI 6 CIN 7 MIA 8 KC 9 BAL 10 IND/HOU
  7. It's less prevalent than it was 20 years ago, but the perception still exists that minorities moving into a neighborhood decreases property values.
  8. Sorry, I was just countering all the irrational bulls*** from the other side.
  9. Our cellular contract with AT&T is up and I'm interested in hearing from people who have other carriers about the quality of their service, especially if you're a former AT&T customer.
  10. I was part of a group of 10 people who started a pool that was $6 week to play and you picked 6 games per week and the only way to win money was to go 6-0-0, otherwise it rolled over. It took 2½ seasons to pay out, during which time I went 5-0-1 twice and one other guy did it once. The guy who finally hit it had the worst cumulative record of the entire group.
  11. The Bears always seem like their record is better than their performance. One reason is turnovers. The other reason is special teams. One thing I liked about Lovie was his dedication to excellence on special teams. Between their kicker, punter, and returners, the Bears are always winning the field position battle. I just hope that the roughing the kicker penalty and blocked PAT are not a sign that the new regime has de-emphasized special teams.
  12. Not unless somebody from Soxtalk recognized you.
  13. Teams that are +2 or better on turnovers for the season are 28-4 Teams that are -1 to +1 are 8-16 Teams that are -2 or worse are 10-25 Jets are the outlier in that they are -6 in turnovers but 2-1
  14. OK, I didn't realize they had moved him. Yes, they would have needed a roster spot for him then.
  15. No, Crain was on the 15-day DL and not the 60-day, so the Rays had to add him to their 40 as soon as they acquired him.
  16. Cleveland now 1½ ahead of Texas for 2nd Wildcard.
  17. No kidding, they let a MSU player punch an ND player, didn't penalize or eject him, and then penalized Brian Kelly when he complained. Not to mention all the additional pass interference penalties MSU got away with that weren't called. ND totally got hosed that game. Would have won by a lot more if not for the refs.
  18. Depending on what was used in the effigy/cross, it may or may not be an unlawful conveyance of fuel as in the case above.
  19. Federal or state? Because the Federal retirement plan is very similar to many large companies, and we haven't gotten a raise in over 3 years.
  20. Yeah, Teddy should pay close attention to the JAX @ CLE game December 1.
  21. I didn't mean at your job--I meant here.
  22. The vast majority of government workers aren't unionized. I think all that incompetence you've been staring at is actually a mirror.
