I doubt they add things up to make sure they average out at 81, but given the juice and the length of time the bets cover, I doubt they're off one way or the other enough to exploit that by betting the over or under on every single team.

.674 OPS last year, right?

Trade LaRoche for him, then release him. $5.5M saved!

I know the Sox need to improve defense, but I have a really hard time stomaching a FA deal for a guy whose offense is so bad.

I've always chalked this up to "men are just hornier than women." In other words, the reason straight men have fewer partners isn't due to being more moral or being wired differently. It's due to the greater challenge in finding willing partners. If you're a guy and your #1 goal for the night is getting laid, your odds are better if you're looking for another guy than if you're looking for a girl.

I like the idea of draft pick penalty/compensation. I would tweak it a bit though: 1) Each team can only make one QO per year. 2) Expand the first round pick protection from the top 10 picks to the top 20 (all non-playoff teams) 3) Make the QO a player option: 1 year at the average of the Top 125 salaries, or 2 years each at 80% of that value. Make the team offering the QO accept a higher amount of risk in potentially having the player for 2 years. Makes the risk a bit higher for teams making the QO and the risk a bit smaller for (some) teams signing players who have a QO.

Yeah, if Latos and Johnson are both significantly better than Danks, they have to find a way to get them both into the rotation. If Danks is already a sunk cost, then might as well make him a long man out of the pen.

How did catcher get worse or even stay the same? Catcher is very much improved.
-
They are waiting for Fowler to realize that he's only going to get 2/20.
-
Christie needs to decide whether he likes Kasich or Bush better, drop out right now, and throw all of his weight behind one of the two.

I can shed a bit of light on the unemployement numbers, since it's my job. Someone who is retired, UNLESS they also claim to be looking for work, is considered to be not part of the labor force. Same would apply to students also unless they are looking for work. To be counted as unemployed, you have to have been actively looking for work within the past four weeks.

Nevermind the moral aspect, I just don't see being married to one woman and getting sex from one or more others ever working out well for anybody. There might be some extremely rare cases where that can work.
-
No, anybody who tells you otherwise has a pretty twisted view of marriage. I would say the right thing to do though is get a divorce first before finding somebody else.

Offseason Boredom: If you could draft 2 historical players/years to ma
cabiness42 replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is my twist on this- I'm creating a lineup of Sox players from a specific season, dating as far back as I can remember being a Sox fan (1980). No player used more than once, and the player must have played at least 81 games at the listed position during the listed season. Lance Johnson 1993 CF Robin Ventura 1992 3B Frank Thomas 1994 1B Albert Belle 1998 LF Magglio Ordonez 1999 RF Alexei Ramirez 2010 SS Harold Baines 1987 DH Carlton Fisk 1983 C Ray Durham 1998 2B Esteban Loaiza 2003 SP Chris Sale 2013 SP John Danks 2008 SP Alex Fernandez 1996 SP Mark Buehrle 2007 SP Bobby Thigpen 1990 CL -
You'd get season tickets for the Gary Railcats.
-
Assuming that they didn't move closer to me, I'd become a Reds fan.
-
If you have that defense, yes, but the Bears are about 11 players short of a defense like that.
-
I've been saying the same thing about Donald Trump.
-
Denver's going to win this.
-
When has budget really been an issue? The Sox apparently had a higher bid for Gordon but he chose to stay home. Even if the Sox had the money to outbid the Mets for Cespedes I'm not convinced I want the burden of that contract.
-
That appears to be a huge negative in the Republican Primaries.
-
First of all, Bush needs to accept that he can never win simply because of his last name, decide who he likes best between Christie and Kasich and throw his support behind that guy, then the other one needs to follow suit. If you get the three of them united behind one of them, there is a fighting chance, but it's still slim. Seems like Rubio's to lose to me.

So, #1 and #2 both lose today. -

2016 is the 25th anniversary of "New Comiskey Park" or USCF

Nothing specific to USCF, but I don't really like watching a game from the upper deck anywhere.
