2016 Republican Thread
That's a myth perpetrated by the abortion industry and their lobby. There are waiting lists to adopt babies. People are adopting babies from Russia and Africa because they can't get babies in America.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
I'm glad the Sox didn't offer that. Basically if he's awesome next year you lose him after one year but if he sucks next year your stuck with an expensive contract for two more years.

OK, I don't read the National Review, or any such publication that is so extremely slanted left or right, but a friend shared this article with me, and if you still think abortion should be legal for anything other than extreme circumstances after the first trimester, I encourage you to read this: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/4301...nism-march-life

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
Normally I would agree, but with the extra pick the Sox got for Samardzija, that's the one they would have to give up and they would still have all of their standard allotment of picks and accompanying bonus pool.

Dexter Fowler as a secondary option
Desmond's WRC+ in 2015 was 83. His fWAR was 1.7. Saladino only projects to be in the 0.0-0.5 range, but that's too steep a price to pay for a marginal upgrade. Fowler had a WRC+ of 110 and a fWAR of 3.2. Much more bang for your buck.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
If they've really offered that, then this should be over really soon. Nobody else is coming close to that, and I won't mind a bit that the Sox didn't.

Dexter Fowler as a secondary option
Why would the Sox be considering giving up a draft pick for an IF who has a career 99 OPS+ and had an 80 OPS+ last season? I've seen his name mentioned several times but I'd rather see what Saladino can do. Sign Fowler if he'll take a 3 year deal.

Washington about to get buried by a blizzard. Don't know if that would have any impact on any FA negotiations.

Snow this weekend. Local NWS telling us that it will start sometime between 4am and noon Friday, end sometime between 2am and 10am Saturday, and will give us somewhere between 1 and 14 inches of snow.

Me too, or at least close to it. On days I work my alarm goes off at 6:20. On days I don't work, I can usually sleep about an hour past that. If I'm really tired, maybe two hours.

Moved my account from 70% stocks/30% bonds to 20/80 on January 4th. Still losing a lot but not nearly as much as it might have.

My productivity today was already destroyed. Watching for Cespedes news has replaced watching my retirement account shrink.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
I'm taking it as the Cespedes saga is over, but not taking it as necessarily being in favor of the Sox.

Does this guy have any record of having stuff before the usual sources? I'd feel better if bucket or rabbit could confirm this.

In '06 the Sox and Cubs both made the World Series. Oh wait, you meant 2006.

The Winter/Spring Weather Complaint Thread
So our first school cancellation of the year was today. 3½ inches of snow. Worst thing is that it came on the worst possible day for my wife. She works 6:30pm-7:00am 3 nights/week at a hospital, and the normal routine is I leave for work as soon as she gets home, she stays up until the kids are off to school, and then sleeps while the kids are at school. She works again tonight, so just staying up until I get home isn't an option, and I have things going on at work today that I couldn't miss so I couldn't just call in. She's having to leave the 7 and 6 year old mostly unsupervised while she sleeps, setting an alarm every 90-120 minutes to get up and check on them.

NCAA basketball 2015-16 thread
That's a violation? When I was a SM I drove players from the Cotton Bowl to the team hotel after the game. Was a van provided by the Cotton Bowl though so maybe I wasn't guilty of "providing transportation."
