  1. I get your point that the employees of this company should have had the expectation that there was a nontrivial chance that they would lose their lives over their actions. If they believe in their strongly enough to be willing to be martyred, then that's their choice.
  2. This. You don't take a QB with serious character issues in the first round. I will have a hard time being a Bears fan with him on the team.
  3. If the Sox do draft that guy, they need to get Ben Stein to introduce him at the press conference.
  4. At least 1% of Soxtalk live in California/Nevada/Texas.
  5. Weather forecast for Wednesday: 99% chance that at least one of the first five people you talk to will complain about how cold it is.
  6. My opinion of Viciedo is so low right now it's hard for me to think any team wanting him makes sense, even the Astros.
  7. Quietly rooting for the Cowboys. Can't stand their fan base but have to choose them over a dirty Detroit team and also over the Packers.
  8. I was thinking the same thing. I had seen absolutely zero connection between the Sox and Bonifacio outside of people here wanting to sign him. .959 OPS vs LHP in 2014, .721 for career. Even if he is closer to his career numbers than 2014 numbers, he's a solid platoon for Gillaspie at 3B. Appears to be decent defensively at 3B.
  9. Yeah, I just saw that. Cancer is brutal.
  10. I think Robin's biggest problem in how his career is perceived is that he was on the same team as the greatest (clean) hitter of that generation. When your numbers are constantly appearing right next to Frank's in the boxscore, it's hard to appreciate how good he really was.
  11. Little Jimmy Dickens, 94, Nashville legend.
  12. Florida's Jacob Kurtz had a huge game-winning tip in last night. Only problem is that the tip in was into Florida State's basket.
  13. If they had played a team better than Minnesota in their non-conf, they wouldn't be playing today.
  14. It's the American Idol version of the playoffs. The judges can save one loser each round.
  15. Well, they own the station jointly. The station pays the teams rights fees directly, but the station itself is still making a profit, and 20% of the station's profit also goes to the team. So as advertising revenue goes up, more money goes to the team in some combination of direct rights fees or station profit.
  16. Two totally different positions. Much harder for a QB with character issues to succeed than a WR.
  17. If I am judging them as people, Winston is far worse than Johnny, but if I'm evaluating them as quarterbacks, they both have character issues that are going to impact their ability to be successful in the NFL at that position. I look at both of them and all I can think of is Ryan Leaf.
  18. They should consult with Tony Dungy as to how best to convince Tony Dungy to coach the Bears.
  19. OK, but looking at it that way, does this not open up the door for any other FSU male accused of rape to use the "Winston defense?"
