  1. More proof of what is wrong with baseball. They need a cap. How do they take on his contract too. http://tracking.si.com/2012/07/23/ichiro-t...2&eref=sihp
  2. I'm also exited about barnum as I think he is the future at first base. I think pauly has three more years left in him to allow this kids to develop his huge power.
  3. I'd like to see castro get some opportunities in august and september to see what he has. If he succeeds then I would like to see floyd traded for more prospects to line our farm team, then go with a rotation next year like this. Sale Peavy-back at a lower price Danks Quintana Castro That would actually put 3 lefties in our starting rotation.
  4. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) Danks is not really impressing me very much in the outfield. Isn't he supposed to be really good there? He made a nice diving catch earlier in the game.
  5. Boy do you remember how bad he was last year? Maybe he is that much more comfortable in right field. If he can do this again next year I wouldn't mind him coming back. Definitely not for the same price. But he uss looking real good this year.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 09:13 AM) I think I'm at the point where I'd be willing to try something different at 3B. ODog is not the answer, Morel won't be back for a while, and I don't believe Escobar or Lillibridge are legitimate options. f*** it, I think I might give Dan Johnson a shot at this point if I was KW. We are coming to a crossroads soon, and I have concerns about our ability to remain competive if we continue getting no offensive production out of 3B. Giving Dan Johnson the job is the ultimate last resort decision, but he'd get some walks and hit some HRs, which I'd hope would compensate for the defensive downgrade he presents. I guess I don't see the harm at this point. If he sucks, which is very possible, give the job back to ODog or hopefully Morel eventually. I just think we need to try something, because things can't get much worse at 3B. If that Is the case why not try wilkins at third. I wonder if we could convert the kid we just drafted in the first round to play 3rd? He is big, athletic, and had a plus arm. Wr are loaded with outfield talent. He might grow even more into a corner infielder.
  7. How about matt davidson of arizona? He is the #9 third base prospect. Is 21 I don't know if he is ready our not, but gives us a future guy for there. Might be able to help right away. They have a young guy on the major roster playing right now that the manager is high on. Josh bell. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2012/
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) So you'd rather have traded De Aza? ??? Ummmmm no! I like de aza. I was saying that to the person that said axelrod is only a AAAA player. The same was said by a few here about de aza too.
  9. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) He's not good. AAAA material. As for trading Floyd to the Jays, that's a silly idea. Unless Floyd's right arm completely fell off today, his value couldn't be any lower. That is what a lot of people said about de aza too.
  10. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) Gavin needs to ditch the damn cutter. Just saw the Tigers are looking into acquiring Quentin & the Tribe have their eyes on Soriano since Damon is stinking up the joint. We need to get this rotation fixed going forward if we want to stay in this race throughout the summer. Oh geez the tigers just might have the worst defense in the history of baseball. Adding quinton makes it even worse. I hope the tigers do make the move
  11. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) Who are the prospects? Mitchell is playing better, but hasn't he dropped off the top prospect radar? I think it's reasonable to have high expectations for Hawkins, but the rest of the propsects are guys like Jordan Danks, right? I liter ther thompson kids also. I thought he showed a lot in the spring.
  12. Thompson is the one I am excited for. I think he has a ton of talent and looked good in spring.
  13. I wonder if the mets would be interested in gavin floyd, jordan danks, nestor molina or simon castro, and a lower level prospect or two for david wright? I like quintana over floyd right now. And weight as the number two hitter would be great.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) Thinking about it, this is probably Kenny's way of trying to increase the bidding on Matt. i hope so... because we see how matt looked last year and it wasn't pretty.
  15. how about giving this guy a 1 year deal and see if he can be our centerfielder and leadoff? if he can remain healthy he could really help out our offense alot.
  16. where is the same approach with rios? why not start de aza in center with viciedo in right the rest of the year?
  17. Lets trade CQ and Thornton to Pittsburgh for Pedro Alvarez and some minor league players. Alvarez is a good fielder with a huge arm and big bat. Fielders; C- flowers 1B- konerko 2B- Beckham SS- Ramirez 3B- Alvarez LF- Rios CF- de aza RF- viciedo DH- dunn 4th outfielder- lillibridge 3B- Morel utility IF- vizquel if he retires bring up escobar from AAA that is a great fielder. Can play SS or 2B. C- Castro good mentor for flowers. Pitchers; Beurhle Peavy Danks Floyd Sale Bullpen Santos Cain frasor Ohman Santiago Reed We might as well start going young if we are just going to be .500
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 07:05 PM) Nope, the Pirates need players they can control at LEAST 3-4 years. That doesn't fit with what's really best for their long-term interests. At least the Indians have Jimenez for 3 years at "cheap" rates. Ok lets say they agree to contracts before the trade. Judist some of you are specific Sally's! Good grief open your imagination some.
  19. Ok scrap the David Wright idea. How about Pedro Alvarez from the pirates. CQ and Danks for Alvarez and some prospects.
  20. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) Ok, first of all don't be surprised if people give you some hell for the spelling of some of our players, people are pretty touchy about that. Secondly, you cannot "trade" Buehrle as he is a free agent at the end of the year, so please drop this idea. Third, since AJ backloaded his contract and will be paid 6M next season, it's going to be tough getting a taker for that price unless the Sox were willing to kick in 2-3M or so in that deal. Also remember AJ is a 10/5 guy now too so he'd have to accept the trade if I am not mistaken. Yes, it appears we have some options for 2012 and can make some moves in the offseason and even possibly "rebuild on the run" next year, it could be a totally different looking starting rotation, and the options you discuss there are legitimate IMO. That's why I showed Danks getting tradedto the Mets and Beurhle as our starter. I think aj needs to be traded. I think floaters gives us everything aj does especially with Castro as his backup. He seemed to call a good game with Peavy today. Sure aj probably gives us a better batting average (.270) while flowers might be lower (.250) but he will give us 15-20 more homeruns and more speed on the base to go from 1st to 3rd.
  21. Flowers, de aza, Stewart, and sale have all shown some good things since the being called up or in sale case the start of the year. Flowers- if he continues to improve the rest of the year I would love to see him get the job next year. First of all we would save some money. Flowers also has a better arm. I think he has done fairly well behind the plate and has shown great improvement with his bat. Having Castro back him up would be great for him De aza- I think has looked good. He would also give us a better centerfield play. He has great speed. He will also be cheaper than Juan. Stewart- boy what a great start yesterday. If he could show that the rest of these year, I would be comfortable with him as the 5th starter next year. Making Floyd or humber tradeable. Sale- i want this guy starting. We have Santiago who could take his bullpen spot. Huge arm with great stuff. He then makes either either Beurhle or Danks tradeable. With the guys tradeable we could really start to stock pile the farm system. I also think quinten will get traded this offseason as Rios is untradeable and viceado needs to be brought up. Rios has looked better this searies with the twins. Lets hope the hand placement thing works out and starts playing better. One thing I think we will look for is a third baseman this offseason. If we could use our trade assets to aquifer David Wright, this would be ideal. So lets say we give them CQ and Danks for Wright and three prospects. Morel can then be a utility guy for the infield teach him second and first this offseason. So this is what we could look like Starting pitchers; 1. Beurhle 2. Peavy 3. Floyd 4. Sale 5. Stewart Field; C- flowers 1st- konerko 2nd- Beckham 3rd- Wright SS- Ramirez LF- Rios CF- de aza RF- viceado DH- Dunn Bench; Lillibridge Morel visquel Castro Maybe pick up an aging power bat for the bench too. Like maybe bring a thome back(or something like this).
  22. The pirates are about to get a bat. Derek Lee from Baltimore.
  23. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) but he plays every day. that i guarantee you. i don't get why prado has to be a starter over carlos or chipper. his stats are rather pedestrian. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/6513/martin-prado
  24. i don't think prado plays over chipper at 3rd.
  25. you wnder if this doesn't force atlanta to move faster than what they wanted. that wild card lead could shrink real fast. and while some here are saying the braves don't need a corner outfielder, i can tell you carlos brings alot more to the table than prado does. infact prado would be more valuable as a 4th outfielder and back up 3B
