  1. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 30, 2013 -> 05:33 PM) Yea good point. Gillaspie has been pretty money & a great find so far, but adding another lefty to the bench & cutting either Greene or Wells loose is something that def couldn't hurt. I agree but I think that gillaspie would be more valuable as a utility infielder. fransisco brings the power and pop we lack with gillaspie at 3rd. I don't think we should shy away because of gillaspie.
  2. I'd take him as our DH over dunn
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 30, 2013 -> 07:16 AM) And two losses in three days isn't either. Jesus, just relax a bit. If they win a few games in June and guys show signs of life, add some pieces to the team. If not, sell a few off. It's not the end of the world either way. I don't want to waste this pitching staff, but it's generally going to be together next year again, so maybe gear up and make a run then. I am relaxed. I just see a team with a ceiling of average. we have a very fine pitching staff, but our offense is very inept. so why not use our pieces now to improve for next year? I am not talking a fire sale either. I am saying that our base to base running is clogging the offense up. and our homerun or nothing is really slowing us down. I love paul konerko, but if he can bring back some very nice pieces why not look into it. I bet a team that is challenging would love to have him. and would give up something of value as well.
  4. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 29, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) You're quoting something he said four days ago. When he had posted it the Sox had just finished a sweep, since then they have looked like s*** 3 days in a row. It makes a difference. yes, but even during the sweep you could still see this teams holes. and the sweep came to the inept marlins. not something to pin your season on.
  5. QUOTE (Knuckles @ May 25, 2013 -> 10:18 PM) How about keep winning games and get an impact bat at the deadline? You still think that bat will help? This sox team is very average. and average isn't going to do anything this year. What bat is going to bolster us into being a good team? It is time to start using some assets to maybe build for next year. other wise we will tread water in mediocrity and be an average team.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 27, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) That is not what he said yeah his post was confusing to me. it seems he just wants to argue, and is seeing what he wants to start an argument?
  7. santiago should be pitching over him and axelrod to be honest. let quintana and axelrod be the 5th and 6th starter. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 27, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Meh. I feel confident with Sale, Peavy, and Danks going for us to win the next 3. Quitnana is just a damn nibbler.
  8. alot of our offensive issues stem from our station to station speed. I love paulie but it is time to see what we can get for him. and it is definitely time to move dunn. maybe dunn stays to play 1st base since nobody will take him. but we can get something for paulie. move viciedo to DH and start teaching him 1st base. while viciedo doesn't possess blazing speed he is much faster than dunn or paulie. but the middle of our lineup is a log jam!
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 17, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) They just did National League. alright, that makes much more sense. i came into it after it had started.
  10. Earlier today I was watching ESPN and they did a segment on the top 5 pitchers under the age of 25 in the league. They put up 10 options, and manny acta chose the top 5. Chris Sale wasn't even an option!! How and the hell does he get left off the top 10?
  11. so is he an outfielder or can he be a 3rd base prospect?
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 05:58 PM) How much do you develop playing only Sundays? when your the 4th outfielder you play more than just sundays. that is why it would make sense for one of the younger kids to play. both mitchell and danks can play all three outfield positions. and like i said if they fail i would almost be positive wise or player of similar skill would be available still.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) I guess paying him what they are paying must have played into that decision somewhat. He can field and everyone remembers "the catch" I'd rather give a young guy the chance to develop at this level. guys like wise are always available if the young kid falls. so let either danks or mitchell just run with it.
  14. not real high on wise as our 4th outfielder.
  15. i don't have a lot of knowledge of the young kids or lower level baseball so this might seem a bit ignorant. so if it is i apologize before hand. but i know we are really shallow at 3B in our farm system. how come we haven't tried moving a couple guys over there and teach them that spot? courtney hawkins our top prospect body wise would be a very good prospect for this. he has a 3B game. he is very athletic and quick. you would think he could learn this spot and move up the system even faster with our lack options here. he has a huge arm for the hot corner. plus with thompson, walker, and mitchell we have enough outfield prospects to try this move. another one i saw was marcus simien. he would bring SS range to the position with a plus arm as well. he has also shown some pop with his bat as well, with a .471 slugging%. also another question not having anything to do with this. but how close is keon barnum to getting MLB ready? basically do you think he will be ready by the time konerko is done. i do know this kid has tons of raw power. brings great size to the position and is a left handed bat.
  16. the walker kid in the minors. he has incredible speed. and is a switch hitter. if he could realise his potential he would be a great centerfielder for the next 10 years and give us incredible speed on the bases to cause havoc.
  17. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) Perhaps, but why tie up that kind of money in a player, when the team already has his position covered, at a far more attractive contract? If it's a third baseman that you are ultimately seeking, why not just put the money there? Because there are no 3rd baseman on the open market to throw the money at. It has to be through a trade.
  18. Y QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 09:43 AM) The only thing Bourn does better than de Aza is steal bases. He is probably a better center fielder, with more range, but doesn't de Aza have a better arm? Even so, that is not a significant upgrade, especially for the money. The Sox better put that money to better use, like another right handed starter, and a left handed power bat with a high OBP. Doesn't Hamilton make a lot more sense at $25 Million than Bourn at $16 Million? You guys need to stop looking at it as a a bourn de aza thing. We would be getting a similar centerfielder/leadoff while using our current one to possibly upgrade 3rd base. which does improve the team. Plus hopefully it is only another year our two until walker is ready to take over centerfield/leadoff.
  19. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 06:35 PM) i'd like to see the Sox add Stephen Drew to this infield.... plug him in against RH SP for whichever Keppinger/Alexei/Beckham has the worst matchup and/or is struggling. Trade beckham floyd and quintana for upton Sign drew to play second Then trade de aza for francisco to play 3rd. Sign meyers to pitch in starting rotation
  20. So I was watching the mlb network. They went over the braves and their lineup. And they said the organization would like another outfielder so prado could start at 3rd. They have juan francisco starting at 3rd right now. so why not give up one of our 4 outfielders and other minor leaguers for francisco? Either viciedo, de aza, rios, or danks? Francisco is a left handed power bat at 3rd. Could platoon with keppinger until ready full time. They really want a LF that can leadoff. So de aza might be a need.
  21. the mets have a young 3B sitting behind david wright we could try and get? wilmer flores http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2012/
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) I would have said the same thing if it were suggested in the offseason. In season, given the situation the Red Sox were in, no, I wasn't surprised at all. I'm merely minding my own business over here. The idea of Chase Headley, Josh Hamilton, and Justin Upton in the same lineup is cool to think about but it's simply not realistic. I may have gone over the line stating it's a waste of space, but the odds of it happening are about the same as me winning the lottery. If you guys want to, keep proposing ridiculous trades. But, it's my right as an American and as a poster on this message board to shoot down an idea I think is ridiculous and absurd so long as I do it in a non-degrading manner, and I have done that. Yes sir, captain sir!
  23. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) I just don't think discussing completely unrealistic things is fun. I have fun on this board discussing what could happen with the White Sox in the American League, not what could happen in a fictional universe where Floyd+Viciedo is worth something close to Headley and a prospect. EDIT: Also, it's a bit hypocritical to criticize the fact that I'm criticizing a post. If everyone should be allowed to post anything, then why are you upset that I'm posting something? Are you trying to take away my fun? And now your getting upset that I got upset?! And around and around we go! Judist just ignore it and move on to the next post. Was just having a little fun. Sorry to interrupt your perfect world!
  24. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) Holy crap, the trade proposals on this board... Holy crap it's a fan message board. The message board nazi is here to take away any fun!
  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 12:51 AM) $79.75 million between Konerko, Dunn, Rios, Peavy, Crain, Ramirez, Thornton, and Danks. $89.5 million with Upton added. Add even say $6 million with Headley and that's up to $95+. You're going to add even $20 million a year with Hamilton and you're up to $115 million minus any other amenities and other re-signings. It's fun to dream and all, but that's just not realistic. You wonder if bringing in more super star types if it brings more fans out which allows us to go a little higher on pay roll
