  1. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) With Schuck up now do you bunt? You have too, he wont get a hit Ha ha!
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) Yeah, they had guys like Zumaya and Rodney, but they rarely all functioned together as a unit...that was Detroit's biggest Achilles' heel over the last decade. Greg Holland didn't have dominant stuff, as well. You don't have to throw the ball through to be effective. Obviously, Herrera throws hard, but guys like Hochevar and Soria don't throw any harder than Albers/Jones/Kahnle/Petricka. revisionist history at its finest.
  3. No s*** you two. Obviously you have to be able to more. Who has the best bullpen right now? Yankees. Look at their back 3. The Tigers had a nasty bullpen a couple years ago. Hard throwers. Look at the royals. Big arms.
  4. Id like to see more hard throwers in our bullpen. Too many lollipop guys.
  5. Would it be possible to sign Cespedes then turn around and sign Parra? Would it be worth it? Obviously melky is the full time DH now. Parra gives us a decent left handed bat and a cannon in LF.
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) With the hole left by my at second, Alexei entrenchment at SS and the numerous players the Sox tried at third its really no wonder. However, the Sox did in fact play Sanchez at SS for one game last year, he started 43 games at SS in 2014 and 51 games in '13 for Charlotte so he is familiar with the position. Sanchez has plenty of range for SS, its his arm strength that is concerning but as a utility he should be fine. He even got action at 3b in the minors.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 05:31 PM) Sox refuse to play Sanchez on the left side of the infield so it's going to be hard for him to be a UIF. Well he does have experience at SS and 3b. Although most of it in the minors. He's never had the bat to justify playing there full time. But as a utility guy he is fine. And his glove definitely plays there.
  8. I don't get the love for Alexi. He has been bad at the plate the last couple years. And hiis fielding has started to slip. Saladino was solid in the field last year. And showed as capable with the bat. Sanchez is the definition of a utility infielder. Move on. Don't be afraid of change.
  9. I'm not a real big savy baseball guy,but I had a thought about him. He seems to really struggle in the outfield with taking proper angles, just not natural for him. But he is a very good athlete and has some good twitch to him. He also possesses a strong arm. What are the chances he could switch to 3b? At 24 years old he would seem young enough to be able to handle it. Athletically I think he could learn and be fine also. Body composition wise he isn't any bigger than the panda who plays 3B. And he isn't much bigger than arod either. I don't see his size as such a detriment. Now I'm not saying this should be done or can be done, but rather just thinking out loud.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 07:40 AM) well it is official, the dodgers front office has told puig that he will not be traded ..... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/dodg...-trade-him.html Sometimes teams will do this to gain leverage on teams they are dealing with. Give us more type tactic. Why else make this public so quick. They want to know that team to know they will keep him so pay up.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin · 2h 2 hours ago Today's CWS lineup: Johnson 4, Bonifacio 5, Abreu 3, Cabrera 7, Ramirez 6, Gillaspie 5, Soto 2, Taylor DH, Thompson 9, Danks LHP Is there a new rule in baseball that we can play with 2 3rd baseman? I'm guessing Bonifacio is suppose to be 8.
  12. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 11:16 PM) I'm hoping for Brandon McCarthy and a trade of an OF. Sale-Quintana-McCarthy-Rodon-Noesi/Bassitt could be a really quality rotation. That's a very solid 1-3, Noesi and Bassitt battle in the #4 and #5 spots until June when Rodon comes up, winner takes the #4 spot, loser takes long man job. I could definitely live with that if Hahn can get us an impact OF bat. What a let down this would be.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:59 AM) With pitchers, you never know. Ok?
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:51 AM) I'd also like to point out that this guy will be 30 years old by the time he could put on a Sox uni Who cares. He has 6 good years still left in him. This isn't football. 30 isn't old in baseball.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:51 AM) His second half stats this season were pretty close to his first half Amazing how some are down playing samardjia, as if they are just afraid of change. This is a very good RHP. Something we need mixed in with our top LHP.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) I know you love WAR, but start valuing 33 starts and 215 innings too. It helps the bullpen, and you know, the team. Exactly I don't get why WAR is the end all be all of a players ability.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:37 AM) Samardzija WAR by year: 0.5 -0.4 -0.5 0.6 2.8 2.6 4.1 This would be like trading for Gavin Floyd in 2010/11, except Floyd was better Come on man! He is better than Floyd.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:27 AM) Samardzija isn't even that good, for Christ's sake Why do you say that? Over 200 IP 202k/43bb 2.99 era 1.07 whip Seems to me he would be great sandwiched in between sale and Q. And he is only 29.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Oh good, my stalker is back. That's difficult to know?
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 12:06 PM) I don't care if he was or was not overrated in 2011, I'm saying that right now, in today's game, he is overrated and may be the most overrated player in the league. The fact that you are using his offensive output and ignoring his defensive output to suggest that he is somehow reasonably worth $21+ mill per year is outrageous. I have heard it is complicated?
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 10:41 PM) Blown saves/Total Team Wins X % of blown saves 30. Houston 0.2132 29. Colorado 0.16873 28. NY Mets 0.16065 27. Cubs 0.1264 26. Miami 0.10915 25. White Sox 0.10647 24. Arizona 0.10472 23. Pirates 0.10132 22. Rangers 0.09731 21. Giants 0.0848 Do the White Sox have a bad bullpen because they aren't good (expected to compete) or they're not good because of their bullpen? The truth lies somewhere in between. Of the competitive teams from this list, you'll find only the Marlins, Pirates and Giants. Of course, the Pirates traded for Frieri and the Giants demoted Sergio Romo already. You can also safely say that Addison Reed in the Chicago pen wouldn't have made an appreciable difference. You would think getting Lindstrom and jones back healthy would make a big difference in the pen.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:42 AM) Depends if there is room for him to play. But I think thats realistic. The guy is attacking rehab, and not underestimate his leadership on this squad. he WANTS to be back. I think a lot depends on Adam Dunn getting traded. It would seem the DH role would allow for him to come back sooner rather than later.
