  1. if we trade with the braves I hope to see edward salcedo as part of the deal. he was a highly rankes SS that has now grown into a 3rd baseman. has tons of upside too. big bat and powerful arm. has good range for 3rd baseman.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:37 PM) Hayes just tweeted that Rios never invoked any deal to the Yankees. He was never asked. Was angry too. the yankees don't have anything worth while anyway.
  3. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:35 PM) Sure would loves me some Matt Adams. Blazek looks like he could be a good get as well, though with Jones and Reed I wish he was left handed. Swap out Butler for something a little sexier and I'd take it. I agree we need something better than butler as part of that deal. we are giving a up a quality short stop and starter.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) Ha! Honestly, I have no problem with it if it's for lesser players (Heyward won't be one of them during the season, BTW, because he is too valuable to that team at the moment), but I don't want to see a Jesus Montero, whose stock is down, be the centerpiece of a deal for Rios or Peavy. He can, however, be a #2 piece in such a deal. oh I don't know, now it is just getting to complicated.
  5. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/07/brav...ation-help.html Braves Seeking Front-Line Starting Pitcher By Steve Adams [July 26, 2013 at 12:15pm CST] FRIDAY: The Braves are more focused on front-line starting pitchers such as Jake Peavy and Ervin Santana than they are on Norris, writes Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Peavy's 118-pitch outing yesterday, which was scouted by the Braves, helped to quell some of the hesitation surrounding his health, Bowman adds. The Braves aren't interested in Yovani Gallardo, according to Bowman, but they may contact the Brewers regarding Kyle Lohse's availability.
  6. with hudson breaking his ankle today, is there a chance now they make a push for jake peavy? you would think they would want to add a veteran to replace hudson to make there push this year.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 04:56 PM) I'd be SHOCKED if we don't put a former Sox in the booth because that's how we do things around here. all I know is that it better be someone smart. so that he can keep us informed of the complexities of the baseball game. otherwise none of us will know what is going on out there on the field. I've heard it is a confusing game.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 11:02 PM) Settle down. Baseball is a relatively simple game, but there are intricacies in the game that are complicated and rival no other. That's why it's such a great game. The old cliche is that you see something new every game. A lot of that is true. i'm actually trying to apply to an ivy league school, so that i can become a fan (educated one, that can handle the complexities of this super confusing game) again of baseball!
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 08:12 AM) http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/quiz/_/id/...w-mlb-rules#top Let me know how you do boy you are complicating things way too much. you are also trying way to hard to be right about something so stupid! so good for you. you win. you are the winner. baseball is a complicated game that should only be enjoyed by intellectuals!
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Jesus, baseball is anything but a simple game. There are times I get confused as to what's going on. Having someone who knows what's going on and can explain it to me is greatly appreciated. it really isn't that complicated. baseball 101 might be a good read for you then.
  11. I don't get the hawk hate. I actually really enjoy him. I think he does a very good job with our games. I guess it helps that i am not from chicago or live around there? either way the documentary was very entertaining and i like listening to hawk and his stories. i also think he is very entertaining as an announcer. some of you just seem to damn crabby about every and anything possible.
  12. I like his approach at the plate.
  13. boy I hope it is a miss print but on the espn box score it shows that flowers took a whole total of 4 pitches this game! in 3 at bats. nothing but first pitch swinging. he really has no clue. or is too damn scared of a breaking pitch so he takes the first pitch fast ball.
  14. poor sale can't catch a break with our terrible offense and bad defense
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 07:12 AM) Phegley has 8 passed balls in 60 games in Charlotte. Flowers has 7 passed balls in 65 games in Chicago. I'd also like to think the breaking stuff might be a bit easier to catch in the minors. You should not expect this at all. I don't believe this at all. guys in the majors also have more control of their pitches too. you see more wild pitches in the minors than you do the majors.
  16. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 30, 2013 -> 05:33 PM) Yea good point. Gillaspie has been pretty money & a great find so far, but adding another lefty to the bench & cutting either Greene or Wells loose is something that def couldn't hurt. I agree but I think that gillaspie would be more valuable as a utility infielder. fransisco brings the power and pop we lack with gillaspie at 3rd. I don't think we should shy away because of gillaspie.
  17. I'd take him as our DH over dunn
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 30, 2013 -> 07:16 AM) And two losses in three days isn't either. Jesus, just relax a bit. If they win a few games in June and guys show signs of life, add some pieces to the team. If not, sell a few off. It's not the end of the world either way. I don't want to waste this pitching staff, but it's generally going to be together next year again, so maybe gear up and make a run then. I am relaxed. I just see a team with a ceiling of average. we have a very fine pitching staff, but our offense is very inept. so why not use our pieces now to improve for next year? I am not talking a fire sale either. I am saying that our base to base running is clogging the offense up. and our homerun or nothing is really slowing us down. I love paul konerko, but if he can bring back some very nice pieces why not look into it. I bet a team that is challenging would love to have him. and would give up something of value as well.
  19. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 29, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) You're quoting something he said four days ago. When he had posted it the Sox had just finished a sweep, since then they have looked like s*** 3 days in a row. It makes a difference. yes, but even during the sweep you could still see this teams holes. and the sweep came to the inept marlins. not something to pin your season on.
  20. QUOTE (Knuckles @ May 25, 2013 -> 10:18 PM) How about keep winning games and get an impact bat at the deadline? You still think that bat will help? This sox team is very average. and average isn't going to do anything this year. What bat is going to bolster us into being a good team? It is time to start using some assets to maybe build for next year. other wise we will tread water in mediocrity and be an average team.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 27, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) That is not what he said yeah his post was confusing to me. it seems he just wants to argue, and is seeing what he wants to start an argument?
  22. santiago should be pitching over him and axelrod to be honest. let quintana and axelrod be the 5th and 6th starter. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 27, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Meh. I feel confident with Sale, Peavy, and Danks going for us to win the next 3. Quitnana is just a damn nibbler.
  23. alot of our offensive issues stem from our station to station speed. I love paulie but it is time to see what we can get for him. and it is definitely time to move dunn. maybe dunn stays to play 1st base since nobody will take him. but we can get something for paulie. move viciedo to DH and start teaching him 1st base. while viciedo doesn't possess blazing speed he is much faster than dunn or paulie. but the middle of our lineup is a log jam!
  24. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 17, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) They just did National League. alright, that makes much more sense. i came into it after it had started.
  25. Earlier today I was watching ESPN and they did a segment on the top 5 pitchers under the age of 25 in the league. They put up 10 options, and manny acta chose the top 5. Chris Sale wasn't even an option!! How and the hell does he get left off the top 10?
