  1. Wacha doesn't suit our ballpark. Keeps the ball high
  2. This is easiest pick to guess in the Top 10-Cubs pick Almora
  3. That was stupid of me to think Zimmer might be at #13
  4. Astros definitely made this draft more interesting with their 1st pick
  5. Zimmer stock has been dropping the past 24 hours. Would do backflips if we land him.
  6. Very good move by the Twins-not in contention for awhile
  7. Wow-shocking start with the Astros
  8. White Sox looking at Barrett Barnes/OF or Mitch Nay 3b/OF at #48 according to Keith Law.
  9. Giolito will not be their at #48. Some of the bigger markets would never let him get by. If he lasted to #48 he's going to college because of the money. He can fall anywhere from #5 to #29 in this draft. Yes, Ventura knows him, but does this seem like a White Sox pick-No.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) What kind of injury are we talking about? Is it something that will happen again, or something that was just a freak thing? Giolito came out of the chute in December and January throwing 95-99 mph and showing off a long-toss regimen that "makes Trevor Bauer's long toss look like kid stuff," in the words of one scout. He pitched between 92-99 through February, sitting comfortably at 94-96. Then he sprained his ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow in early March, ending his season and turning him into something of a wild card for the draft. Doctors worked with him on strengthening target areas during his rehabilitation, and he started throwing on flat ground by early May, with a plan to start throwing from 90 and 120 feet in the weeks leading up to the draft. May need Tommy John Surgery down the road.
  11. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/draft/2012/...-mlb-mock-draft Keith Law's final mock- White Sox pick Andrew Heaney. Also mentions • The White Sox are on Barrett Barnes at 48.
  12. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...lb&c_id=mlb Mayo has the White Sox picking Michael Wacha.
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) I'm hoping Brinson falls to #48. Stroman sounds goo at #13, but is it too much to hope for Fried to fall there? Brinson sounds like a White Sox draft pick. One of biggest ceilings in entire draft, but also will find out very quickly if he's going to be a bust. Must shorten his swing. I want the Sox to stay away from a player like that we already have Mitchell, Thompson, and Walker and that hasn't gone smoothly.
  14. I think they're going pitching with both their picks today. I would love them to get Ty Buttrey or Ty Hensley both RHP out of high school at #48. Huge ceilings, but will need time to develop. Big time potential down the road.
  15. The more I'm been watching and reading up on Heaney I would be fine with that pick because his stuff suits our ballpark. Heaney has 3 solid pitches, keeps the ball low-ground ball pitcher, lefty, and throws strike with good command. I'm definitely scared of drafting Wacha. He throws his pitches high in the zone and will give up a ton of homers in the Cell.
  16. If Sox do decide to draft Stroman, they will do the same as to when they picked Chris Sale. Bring him up towards the end of the year as a power reliever. That also brings up the possibility of trading Thornton or Crain and bringing in some prospects for the farm system. I would love that, but can't see Kenny doing that. The way Jones is pitching he could easily take over Crain's spot.
  17. Just added another $300,000 to the cap for International signings this year. MLB has made it such that a team can't spend more than $3.2 million this year on international free agents. (And, yes, it's actually $3.2 million, not the announced $2.9 million. According to the CBA, six bonuses up to $50,000 will not count against the international pool. Which means if teams push the rule to the limit, they'll get $2.9 million, plus $300,000.)
  18. I'm a little nervous with drafting Hawkins. If I said we did a good job with developing those type of players in our farm system-I'd be up for it. But our track record hasn't been good lately.
  19. It took you 4 days to come up with those names and I'm sure you googled it. By the way Tom Glavine was 6-0 tall. You can add Tom Gordon to the list as a reliever, but we were talking about starting pitchers. That's 6 starting pitchers in almost 60-70 year span-not very good odds to making it as a starter.
  20. Yes- he plays for the Washington Nationals. Gio is 5-11, but has a plus fastball and one of the best curves in the game. He was also highly ranked supplemental 1st round pick. Pedro Hernandez doesn't have a plus pitch in his arsenal. Yes you can also bring up Pedro Martinez and Teddy Higuera, but those guys had freaky stuff or an out pitch/screwball. Look what's happening to Marcus Stroman because he's 5-9. No teams are considering him as a Starting Pitcher and his stock is dropping. He probably has some of the nastiest stuff, but will be reliever at the major league level. Not too many pitchers come to your head that had long careers with a short stature. Unless you google it.
  21. Quintana and Santiago are on the major league roster. Pedro Hernandez isn't a starter eventhough he's starting in Double A. He will definitely be a reliever if he ever makes it to the big leagues. How many 5-10 Starting pitchers do you see in the majors. Yes, I know Greg Hibbard had a nice little run 20+ years ago. How long do you trust Sale's arm holding up? I'm still very worried that's a surgery waiting to happen.
  22. Keith Law Mock 3.0 White Sox picking Andrew Heaney, LHP, Oklahoma State. Limited upside and small frame scares me 6-2/175. Do like the fact that he's a lefty-close to a finish product and will move up the system quickly. This sounds like a typical White Sox pick. We have no Lefties in the system other Snodgress who has some starting potential. Rather have Smoral, Stratton, Addison Russell, Hawkins. Fried stock is dropping-You never know could be lucky and fall down to lucky #13 just like Sale.
  23. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) Erik Johnson seems to be in Kanny. That's good to hear!!! Don't see him on the roster yet.
