  1. His elbow definitely is a scary situation. Many players have had this same issue and just a matter of time turns into Tommy John Surgery: Carl Crawford, Ardoylis Vizcanio, Colby Lewis, Brett Anderson, Casey Kelly. Those are players that come to my head just right now. I would stay away from Eaton, not a true CF. Reports tend to show he's more suited for LF. Davidson is a better fit. We have a huge hole at 3B.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 07:19 AM) He quite clearly stated he wanted to sign guys to 1 year deals. Forget that he said "something the Cubs did" and look at it like that if you have to. Thanks for following what I said about the 1 year deals. No way is Hahn giving up draft picks/money allocation in next year's draft to sign Ellsbury or McCann. 100% guaranteed Hahn doesn't go that route.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) And sign an Edwin Jackson clone. I said 1 year deals. I believe Jackson was signed for 4 years and $52 million. Check your facts
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) Or the genius that is AA> Please people we need to stop bringing up Ellsbury and McCann. There is no way Hahn is going to fork over $150 million contract for Ellsbury or $80-100 million for McCann. We are still rebuilding towards the future and neither of these players fall in that category. What makes Ellsbury 30 years of age a solid player is his elite speed. He might have 2 more years tops of that speed. He will get a minimum of at least 6 years. Hahn has no interest in having huge contract when he's playing during Years 30-38. Same thing with McCann who will turn 30 in the offseason and catchers start to see a huge drop off by Age 32. He's already had shoulder surgery and his best years are already behind him. Again it will take 5-6 years to sign him. I hope and believe Hahn will take a pass on the elite free agents this offseason. I hope we do something very similar to what Epstein/Hoyer did last offseason and that's sign players to 1 year deals and see how the team does. If the team is horrible again which I believe will happen again you then have the fallback plan to trade them off to continue building our farm system for the future. He's already done a great job getting Abreu signed for his prime years and without costing any draft picks/allocation money for the draft.
  5. Supposedly 4 other teams made bids between $63-$66 million on Abreu according to Rosenthal
  6. Any word on the health progress of Barnum and his concussion.
  7. After reading the reports on Abreu I'm definitely all in on going after him. He's hitting his prime years. Power hitter that walks and gets on base I'm sold. The only negative I see on him is his body. Hopefully he doesn't go to crazy on the Fast Food in America. He definitely needs to get in better shape.
  8. Their will be a big bidding war on Abreu. Going have to throw $50+ million to be in this game. I don't see the Sox organization playing ball when it comes to that kind of money with the unknown.
  9. What an uneventful last 12 hours. Pathetic
  10. Disappointed with the return. Wish White Sox would of thrown in some money for better prospects. Not the biggest Garcia fan.
  11. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:14 AM) Okay, now you're just making things up. 1st - Sale has not been on the DL this year. 2nd - Sale has never thrown 126 pitches in a game in his career. Sale is still only in his 2nd year starting in the big leagues. He will never build up the arm strength to go 200+ innings per year if you coddle him. It's become pretty evident that the White Sox are trying to extend their pitchers out a little more this year. I'm sure this is in the hopes that next year or whenever we contend again that they will have built up the durability to be able to go the distance when we need them. I've got a good feeling that Don Cooper and the White Sox training staff know a hell of a lot more than some random guys on a message board and are doing whatever they think is best to maximize their value out of Chris Sale. Sorry typing on my phone and didnt have exact number but he threw 124 pitches. Also didnt pitch from May 18th to June 2nd. I think that's around 15 days. also has had 3 other appearances this year where they gave Sale 1 to 3 extra days to rest. Sporry i was off 2 pitches. Still not smart on a wasted year to abuse Sale like that.
  12. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 06:49 AM) Peavy had a rib injury, not an arm injury. I don't feel like 118 pitches was too many. Are you trying to say that Sale has the 2nd most number of games with over 120 pitches and Hector has the 4th most? If so, Sale has only reached the 120 pitch mark twice and Santiago once so if you are taking those rankings as meaning anything, that is pretty ridiculous. Sale's average pitch count per start is 109 and Santiago's is 103. If you can't handle those pitch counts you have no business starting. Name another elite pitcher in the majors that get shuts down for a week or two and has skipped starts throughout the season due weakness in his arm particularly his shoulder. Sale comes off the DL this year and his third start back he throws 126 pitches. Doesn't make sense. The only negative thing about Sale is whether he will stay healthy. Our organization has shown they have concerns with Sale the past 2 years.
  13. We need to trade Peavy ASAP. Worried our coaching staff can have another Cain on their hands. Coming off an injury and they let him pitch 118 throws on his second start. Anyone else think Robin Ventura makes some questionable calls on handling Sale, Peavy, Santiago, and Crain this year. Sale is second in the league with throwing over 120 pitches in a game. Santiago is 4th in the league/and he's been going back and forth between starting/bullpen, and the abuse they did in the month of June with Crain knowing he was going to get traded. Come on Robin wake up here.
  14. No way can he play shortstop. Too big for the position and doesn't have the range. His power will develope 20-25 homer power. Love his potential and his on base rate. We don't have anyone in our lineup with that potential. Huge fan of Cecchini and love his potential at 3b
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) I've always thought packaging Peavy and Crain would maximize a return, but Crain needs to return and pitch a couple times. It would be nice to see a bidding war from a few teams. Hopefully Crain can come back and pitch a game or two. Crain is a free agent and not going to risk it and lose out on last big contract.
  16. My gut tells me the Red Sox are going to make the major move to get Peavy and Crain. They are loaded with Solid prospects in the infield and starting pitching.
  17. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) Cubs have Javier Baez at AA, #2 ranked SS in the minors. He won't be a SS when it's time to be called up. They'll move him to 3B. Last time I checked he had 31 errors at the All star break. Bryant, Olt, Baez, Alcantara, Calameria, and possibly Sadinas that's a nice collection of INF prospects.
  18. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 10:06 AM) I'm more sold on Davidson, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at Owings. Agree Davidson approach to hitting is more advanced to Owings. He's able to work a count and get on base at a higher clip.Owing is still a solid piece to a trade
  19. Supposedly the deal for Garza with Texas was Olt, Ramirez, Sardinas, and Edwards. That is a ton for a 2 month rental. I would make that deal for Peavy. Of course the medical records need to be clean on those players.
  20. If Phillies are the team. Biddle better be part of the package.
  21. Hanson for the pirates pulled from the game according to Ben Badler. I like what I'm hearing
  22. I believe Sox might get 1 top prospect between Polanco or Hanson plus a C prospect if they want both Rios/Ramirez. This will all depend on how much money will go back to Pittsburgh. If Hahn/Reinsdorf are willing to throw more money back to them might be able to get another really good prospect such as a Glasnow which I would be extremely happy about.
