  1. Samardzija is not taking anything less than Homer Bailey's deal which was 6 years $108 million. When it's all said and done it will fall into the 6 year $120 million-ish range.
  2. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 05:51 AM) Does Danks plus Anderson land Kemp? Salary swap plus a legit prospect? Would you do it if you were Hahn? Absolutely not
  3. Love this deal. Also being able to get a draft pick if we don't sign Shark is icing on the cake. Robertson will bite us in the ass. Might be good for 2 years, but that 3rd/4th year will be ugly. Long term deals for relievers just don't work. At the same time understand Hahn's logic. We have the money, huge hole now filled, and the Central division is there for the taking. Should be a fun year and it's only Day 2 of the Winter meetings. I know Hahn has some more up his sleeves.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 06:21 PM) The rule changed. They changed the rule a year into the new collective bargaining agreement. Never heard that change. That was smart by the Cubs and Rangers because 2013 signings were much stronger compared to 2014.
  5. Can anybody answer this. Why did the Cubs and Rangers only get a 1 year penalty from international signings. This year Red Sox, Yankees, Rays get a 2 year penalty for going over 15% the allotted money. Why didn't that happen to the Cubs and Rangers?
  6. I'm in total disagreement with handling of Assignment for Rodon. The biggest jump in the minors is High A to AA. There is no reason to rush Rodon to the majors. Boras is his agent and not good idea to start his clock. Also, if we are expecting Rodon to cut a Sale or Quintana no chance with Boras at the helm. Only thing I can think of is the Sox made a promise to Boras/Rodon when signing to bring more money to his pocket. Yes we did it with Sale, but he also did sign at the slot recommendation and his agent has had great relations with our front office. Also, we will have to add Rodon to the 40 man roster and their will be some tough decisions on who to keep this offseason. No need to rush him up. Everyone knows his future is bright.
  7. Tyler Saldhino out for the year. Tommy john surgery
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 05:03 PM) Abreu and Sale are about at peak value. Back up the truck. Back up the truck-whose talking about trading Sale and Abreu. The focus was on Alexi who will be turning 33 years old in September and his value will never be this high again
  9. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) I really hope Alexei is being discussed. Pretty much the only player with decent value they would move. He's at his peak value, I so hope we trade him. Can get a nice return for him. What worries me they will keep him due making Abreu feel more comfortable in the clubhouse .
  10. http://www.survivinggrady.com/2014/07/aj-p...-teammates.html Classic AJ
  11. If Hanley wrist is broken, dodgers might then be interested in Alexi. Prospects galore in that system
  12. Even though the Angels system blows that is a nice haul they got for Street. I'm fans of Lindsey, Alvarez, and Rodon. Shocked they gave up that much plus more
  13. Sickels just came out with his midseason Top 75 not including any 2014 draft picks. No Sox players on the list. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2014/7/14/5...te-2014-sickels
  14. Any word on why Sammy Ayala was released? I'm assuming its due to negative behavior
  15. Baseball America just ran 10 hitters who might be better than you think at #4 was Ranglo Ravelo.
  16. BA reporting Sox are hot on Jorge Alfaro's little brother. He also plays catcher and is one top players this year at that position.
  17. 1. Carlos Rodon 2. Tim Anderson 3. Micah Johnson 4. Matt Davidson 5. Courtney Hawkins 6. Francellius Montas 7. Trey Michalczewski 8. Carlos Sanchez 9. Spencer Adams 10. Adam Lopez 11. Tyler Danish 12. Rangelo Ravelo 13. Trayce Thompson 14. Micker Afolfo 15. Chris Beck 16. Myles Jaye 17. Jace Fry 18. Jacob May 19. Cledius Rodon 20. Adam Engel 21. Scott Snodgress 22. Andrew Mitchell 23. Brett Austin 24. Kevin Smith 25. Jeff Wendeken 26. Thadius Lowry 27. Keon Barnum 28. Kyle Hansen 29. Jordan Guererro 30. Jefferson Olacio Barnum and Thompson trending way down compared years past
  18. If they are making a move with Anderson it will be to 2B. Way too valuable and talent wise to give up on him in the infield. Also, on Danish reliever all the way. I can't see him holding up at all as a starter. Everybody is very high on him, but I'm the opposite. I have him in the 10-15 range as a prospect. I think his ceiling is very limited. Velocity of his fastball falls way down as his pitch count goes up. Drops to 86-90 mph after 50+ pitches.
  19. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) Also if the Sox had any aptitude for fixing players swings, Gettys would be awesome. All the other tools are bonkers. I'm not sold Sox do a good job with those type of hitters with their development
  20. 1. Aiken 2. Rodon 3. Kolek 4. Jackson 5. Gordon 6. Nola
