QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) Easy fix eh? How easy, like a couple starts? Just asking because I have no pitching coach experience. Offseason- Perfect timing -

You can't predict injuries perfectly for any one player, but if you take a cluster of pitchers with the same delivery issues that Walker has, given the research on guys with upright finishes and high release points, you can say that overall the group will be more injury-prone with the shoulder than a control group without that kind of finish. That was changed two years ago in his delivery. If Walker went back to his old mechanics health shouldn't be an issue -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 07:58 AM) He offered Samrdzija $85 million. Perhaps not ace money in today's environment, but more than Anything Hahn may have offered. And he wasn't supposed to be an ace on the White Sox, they already had one, so your point appears way off. He signed for $90 million with the Giants, so Theo was pretty close, closer than Hahn. http://www.sbnation.com/2014/6/18/5822630/...fer-rumors-cubs Epstein also offered a $75 million contract to Annibal Sanchez. Very lucky he turned that down. Very good chance they wouldn't of drafted Bryant and Schwarber. Sanchez would of helped them on the front end of the deal, but would of hurt their draft position. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 04:53 AM) Except Greinke had shown the ability to be successful without throwing in the upper 90s. This was the first year Verlander learned how to pitch with less than an optimal arsenal. Greinke has always been more comfortable in the low to mid 90's, with an occasional 96-97 mixed in. Plus, playing on a team that was out of the playoff race for nearly the entire season. If I had excess money and prospects as a GM, you'd be crazy not to at least consider those two guys. Not to mention the looming diminished rate of return on David Price. After presiding over the Tigers' era of bloated contract extensions, and the success rate on the Price for Smyly, Cabrera to Marlins to Sabathia to the Brewers, you can see equally compelling reasons to go in either direction. And surely Epstein's biggest regret in Boston was all those free agent contracts to guys like Dice K, Carl Crawford, JD Drew, Josh Beckett, Lackey, etc. Don't forget Renteria, Julio Lugo, Varitek 2nd contract, Jenks, and Matt Clement. If there is a flaw to Epstein's game plan it is free agency. Also include Heyward and Edwin Jackson. Epstein always surrounds himself with an incredible support staff. His bread and butter is the draft, player development, and transactions trough trades and waiver pick ups. Yes he has a nice free agent pick up here and there such Zobrist, Mueller, Lester, and Beltre. But probably has had more misses with his long term contracts. I'll probably get bashed for this, but it's true dipping in free agency has been a hiccup to his game. -
QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 09:43 AM) I agree with most of what you said...but come on .. a 10% chance to stick as a starter? With his combination of stuff/make up/competitiveness? Mechanics aren't everything in the world. The guy was rushed to the Majors by a year or 2 by this crazy organization we love. He's still 22 years old. If he hasn't made legitimate progress in the next year or 2, okay. He needs time to actually develop his fastball command and get a chance to smooth out his mechanics. Just because he was a college pitcher doesn't mean he was MLB ready when we drafted him. Just like Rodon, who shouldn't have sniffed the Majors in 2015. All this being said, I'd be a huge fan of him in a multiple-inning reliever role. I'm just not close to writing him off as the starter many of us envisioned him being (he's had his skeptics the whole time) before the 2016 campaign. Just because he has great makeup and competitiveness doesn't mean he will make it as a starter. I look how Fulmer only threw 52% first strike, BB/9 5.28 in AA and 5.40 Majors, Hard Contact 29.4%, 92% medium/hard contact, slugged .571 off his Fastball. I know Fulmer was rushed and should of never been brought up. Back to his days to Vanderbilt always thought his profile was solid reliever. Again I was disappointed when the Sox selected Fulmer at #8 knowing their were so many questions whether he can make it as a starter. They have to continue try developing him as a starter, but all indications point to him ending up in the bullpen.

Sale- Gone Quintana- Stays Frazier- stays til deadline Eaton -stays Jones- Gone Melky-stays til deadline Abreu- Gone Jennings-Stays til deadline Gonzalez- Gone I hope for a full rebuild, but I know it won't happen.

You still try to develop him as a starter. The problem is his consistentency with his mechanics. That has been an issue since day 1 and hasn't changed. That's why majority of the baseball Industry believes he will be a reliever. Fulmer mechanics with his breaking ball and fastball command is a big concern. For me I believe there is a 10% chance of making it as a starter. Eratic mechanics, fastball command, and development of his breaking ball are reasons that puts him in the bullpen.

Hopefully Arizona fixes the flaw in Walker's delivery. A couple years ago Seattle shortened his stride which has led to more injuries with his shoulder and seen a decrease in velocity. Would be an easy fix and his elite stuff would return and health wouldn't be in question. Law and Crawford have been harping on that for 2 years with how Seattle has hurt Walker's development. -

Tavares would be a must. One of the highest ceilings in all of minors. -

Another example of why we need an overhaul with our pro scouting department. Avila, Navarro, Jackson, Latos, Rollins, Lawrie, Shields, and goes on and on over the recent years -

You are not getting both Bregman and Springer in the deal. I'm shocked anyone thinks Houston would consider that. -

That's crazy money for a very average reliever. Outrageous the amount money in baseball. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) I think Toronto absolutely has enough for Eaton. I'd require Vlad Guerrero Jr but I like Anthony Alford, Jon Harris, Angel Perdomo, and Rowdy Tellez. Getting a ML starter like Sanchez would be nice though. Many of the Toronto Blue Jays prospects have huge question marks and flaws to their games. Many scouts are worried about Vlad Jr. body by the time he reaches the majors. Good chance his swing and athletic ability will slow down as his body starts maturing. Rowdy Tellaz has plus power, but lacks in hitting. Tellaz has trouble catching up to elite velocity and strikeouts a ton. Position wise he's still up in the air, but is negative everywhere in the field. Alford is my favorite of all their prospects. Alford is still extremely raw and athletic. Again White Sox have done a poor job in the past with these type of players. But based on the past 2 years we are starting to get over the hump with developing some hitters in our system. Rather make a trade with team with a lot less questions with their prospects. Eaton was a 6.2 WAR last year. Way too valuable and also the right time to sell high.

Braves among teams showing interest in chris sale

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 06:30 PM) Take all of this with a giant grain of salt: I have a buddy from Atlanta that is plugged in locally that I talk NFL Draft with. He's a Braves fan. He claims to have a friend that is a scout for Atlanta. He told me that Atlanta can't get Sale because they aren't willing to trade Maitan or Dansby. He said it's Quintana that they are going after. He mentioned Sean Newcomb, Travis Demeritte, and Mallex Smith. That's not enough for Q but like I said this is what he told me. Not a fan of Demeritte and Smith. Smith is a 4th OF. Brings one asset plus plus speed. Doesn't make enough contact and is a low obp. Has a very weak arm in the OF/30 grade arm. Demeritte has plus power, but has huge flaws with making contact and striking out too much. I believe he will not hit enough to be an everyday player. -
The more I think about it, Dodgers are going to pony up because Frazier being thrown in the deal. I think the Dodgers are going to let Turner walk and get a compensatory pick and then factor in possibly getting another pick the following year for Frazier. That will help with the load of talent they will lose in this deal. Having Kershaw and Sale would be very scary to the NL during the playoffs. Wouldn't have to go the 3 man rotation anymore during the playoffs.

Toronto, Giants, Mets, and St. Louis would probably have strong interest in Eaton.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 07:04 AM) Besides swanson not much position player wise in top 10. Mostly all pitchers. Would rather deal came from dodgers or boston with more position player depth. Plus side just adds another team going after sale. Could be nice bidding war Agree. Braves don't have the an upper echelon pitcher or hitter to headline. I find it hard to believe they would trade Swanson when they are in a rebuild. -
Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
PolishPrince34 replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not sold on De Leon. He's a fly ball pitcher which doesn't suit our ballpark. If he's headlining the trade very against it. I believe Bellinger, Verdugo and Alvarez are the stronger prospects with much higher ceilings. -

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) I feel like Sale gets any prospect in baseball. Sox should identify the one prospect in baseball they want and build from there. Is Urias really the guy? I dunno if that wows me after watching him struggle against the cubs' weak lineup. That's funny ripping a 20 year old pitcher with only 70 innings in the majors because he couldn't handle Cubs in the Playoffs. They couldn't touch him the first 3innings of that game. That 4th inning issue was the error made in LF by Tholes. Didn't get any help from his defense. Urias will be a stud. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) PP34, how do you think that quintet compares to Bosox package led by either Benintendi or Moncada with Devers, Swihart, and Kopech on the side? I'd take the Dodgers deal just for the huge upside you would possibly get with Urias and Alvarez. You can always throw Quintana to Boston in another deal. Boston has the hitters we are starving to get. But you possibly might get two #1 starters in Urias and Alvarez. That upside is to great to pass up on. Someone mentioned earlier Urias might be better than Sale in 3 years and I might agree with that. Both pitchers have a chance to be special plus your getting other top prospects in the deal. -

Urias, Verdugo, Bellinger, Lux, Barnes, and Alvarez. I would do that in a heartbeat. Alvarez one highest ceiling pitchers in all of minors -
