Garcia doesn't bring one positive tool to the team. The only positive thing I keep on hearing from a small minority is he's 25 years old. Everyone who has eyes that work can tell you Garcia deficits make him a liability to a team. Disappointed our front office couldn't figure it out. Make an eye appointment!!!

3.5 million great number.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) So no Otani till about 2019-2020 huh? That sucks. Sucks for the Cubs. They were going after him hard and let Arrieta walk. Messes up Theo's plans. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) Who says no? Nats get: Eaton and Jennings Sox get: Giolito, Robles, Fedde, Reetz Edit: I'm saying the Nats say no Nationals:Eaton and N. Jones Sox: Giolito, Robles, Fedde, Stevenson Would you take that deal?
-
No way Nationals offer that deal.

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) C-Mart Wainwright Wacha Leake Lynn is their rotation as of now with a healthy Lynn. But even then that's only 5 - and they all have questions besides Martinez. So you're probably right...but Reyes would be their 6th guy as of right now. Lynn TJS Martinez nagging issues with his shoulder past couple seasons Wainwright 2 TJS Wacha shoulder can't withstand a season. They have huge questions in their rotation!!!!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) Looking from the outside in, the fact that they are talking about moving Adam Eaton to me is a clue that there might be some smoke to all of the clubhouse stuff. I think it's more Eaton is 28 years and relies on speed, had a career year/6.0 WAR, and trying to sell him at his peak value. Hopefully that's the sign of a rebuild from the Front Office.
-
I completely agree. Eaton has been excellent in the clubhouse and community since joining the White Sox. The only issue has been Twitter and he seems to have it under control. Bad rap in Arizona and Sox benefited.

White Sox' slow start to offseason CBA-related?
PolishPrince34 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rodon's value will only increase. His best pitching is ahead. The development of his changeup was a huge difference maker in his arsenal the last 2-3 months of the season. Rodon is becoming a complete pitcher and getting deeper in the games. He just needs to continue with his fastball command and he will move into that upper tier of starting pitchers. -
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) Eaton is a proven all star at the mlb level. Regardless of Robles' ceiling, he is still 19 and there is a ton of time for him to end up as a bust. I like him as a prospect, but Eaton is not going anywhere as he is under long term control Eaton is not a proven All Star!

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Right, but at this point i'd rather poach the signings of those teams that have shown success in promoting their LatAm talent in their lower levels rather than give the money to the sox system for a 2017 class. I like Marco Paddy. I Think we are getting better. Not relying on him yet thou. Agree with your assessment on Paddy.

That's extra $4 million to build up your system and big advantage over the other 29 teams. I think that will be the big advantage when dealing with the international market in the new CBA. Go after the higher cost players of the past couple years: Torres, Jimenez, Mailtan, Espinoza, Alvarez, Mazara, Tavarez, etc. All those signings done by the teams who went over cap in the last CBA. Your going to see the Dodgers, Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox trading strengths in their system to get international allotment to continue rebuilding their system. Example Cubs will trade a player like 3b Candelario who has no spot in the majors and be traded to the Marlins for allotment money.
-
Robles, Giolito, and Stevenson for Eaton. Or Robles, Giolito, and 75% of their international money for Eaton Done Deal Teams can trade 75 % of their international allotment
-
I would be on the phone with the Nationals regarding Eaton. If Robles was the headliner plus more I would jump all over it. Robles is one the highest ceiling players in all of minors. He's 2 years away, but love all 5 tools. If Pirates can get Robles plus more for a declining McCutchen . Eaton's value is never going to be higher. I would be on the phone with Rizzo.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) I would hate to be an A's fan. Getting phased out of the revenue sharing program for penny pinching is going to hurt. They received $34 million free in 2015. A's will have a new stadium and new location by then. -

Luxury tax penalty 1st time 20% 2nd 30% 3rd 50% 4th 92% 5th 100% Dodgers at 92% Yankees 100% No wonder their front offices went hard building up their farm systems. This will take them out of the Sale discussions. -

The new cba Impacts the high market teams. International cap at $5 million and huge tax penalties for going over the luxury tax. Building your farm system and Development of your own players is a must. I think this has a tremendous impact on the White Sox trade market this offseason. This might take out the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs out of spending big money and making deals because they are already at or above the luxury tax. New CBA states if over $40 million on the $195 million salary cap/92% penalty. Ouch! Dodgers already past that. -

This might take the Dodgers out to making any big moves this offseason. Big luxury tax # for them if I'm reading this right. -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 08:07 PM) Jon Heyman @JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago No international draft, but int'l signings are said to be capped to 5-6M per team per year. Makes it an even playing field. Will come down to international scouting and negotiating with buscones.Hopefully no team will be able to go over the cap number. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) Interesting read. That could make a guy like Sale or Quintana even more important. It would also mean that a guy like Frazier wouldn't happen, while they could ask us to take back a Puig in order to dump a few bucks to make a deal revenue neutral. http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/payroll/2017/ This year they have to worry about their spending with already $162 million locked up for only 8 team members and dead money for 2017 year. You have 17/18 remaining spots to fill -

In 2 years Dodgers will only have $47 million locked up on their active roster. That will be scary with Harper, Machado, etc. all on the free agent market. Also Yankee's will have only $55 million locked up. No chance for the smaller market teams. -

QUOTE (Username @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) Dodgers apparently have to dramatically cut payroll this year due to MLB debt rules. Have to think that increases Sale's attractiveness - and potentially Frazier's (compared to Turner). Also makes me think Puig probably comes back in any deal - allowing the Dodgers to shed about $8-9 million each of the next two years. I agree with that assumption. Also might open up the avenues of a 3 way deal. -
