December 6, 20169 yr Patrick SaundersVerified account @psaundersdp Interesting. @harding_at_mlb writes that #Rockies and #Whitesox have had preliminary talks about 1B Jose Abreu: http://m.rockies.mlb.com/news/article/2103...-first-basemen/

December 6, 20169 yr Rox have been my NL team for years because of CarGo. Would love to see Abreu if he's dealt.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:55 PM) 0 chance we could nab Brendan Rodgers? I would think he's off the table. Maybe Hoffman? Tapia?
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) 0 chance we could nab Brendan Rodgers? After Abreu's season, yeah. Hoffman, Tapia, McMahon would be pretty great but I highly doubt it.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) I would think he's off the table. Maybe Hoffman? Tapia? David Dahl is an interesting name too.
December 6, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:01 PM) After Abreu's season, yeah. I agree that we can't get Rodgers, but Abreu had a fine season. Huge bounce back in the 2nd half.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:01 PM) After Abreu's season, yeah. Hoffman, Tapia, McMahon would be pretty great but I highly doubt it. I'd figure we would nab one of those guys at least for Abreu.
December 6, 20169 yr Great news that the sox have the *balls* to go out there and dangle their pieces. Promising rebuild.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:01 PM) After Abreu's season, yeah. Hoffman, Tapia, McMahon would be pretty great but I highly doubt it. That seems like a lot of surplus value for a guy hitting his expensive arb trips, and who can't really play 1B.
December 6, 20169 yr Interesting to say the least. I like Abreu and presume the market has undervalued him as a whole. Will be interesting to see what we could get. I say that in the perspective that I think the stat junkies underrate the value of his bat (i.e., I find him an underrated player via WAR).
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) Sox love Hoffman. Not a fan of McMahon. Could see Sox liking Wall I'd probably do a Hoffman, Wall, Murphy, and Almonte for Abreu and Gonzalez.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) I agree that we can't get Rodgers, but Abreu had a fine season. Huge bounce back in the 2nd half. Yeah, Abreu had a fine season and I think he has worth, but not as much as 2014 Abreu or 2015 Abreu. Then you might get Rodgers.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) I'd probably do a Hoffman, Wall, Murphy, and Almonte for Abreu and Gonzalez. GET BACK YENCY!
December 6, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) Yeah, Abreu had a fine season and I think he has worth, but not as much as 2014 Abreu or 2015 Abreu. Then you might get Rodgers. Fair enough. I do think WAR and Sabermetrics like it tend to underrate players of Abreu's mold- the .290-.300/25-35/100 type with below average defense.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:10 PM) GET BACK YENCY! I know me and you are big fans of Yency. I was livid at that deal with Kahnle.
December 6, 20169 yr Knowing nothing else but looking at their prospect list, anyone know anything of substance on catcher Tom Murphy?
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) Interesting to say the least. I like Abreu and presume the market has undervalued him as a whole. David dahl would be a great addition
December 6, 20169 yr No chance Rockies are trading Dahl. Too valuable and legit tools across the board. Murphy stock has risen this year. Plays solid defense and has improved his pitch framing. Strength is his hitting power. One of the better catching prospects. Will be Rockies starting catcher this year.
December 6, 20169 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) Sox love Hoffman. They certainly do. Definitely can see them asking for him as a starting point.
