Due to the 2005 ALCS, I hate the Angels...but this was pretty awesome. Cool baseball moment. Cool human moment.

I don't care about Nova. He's crap; we knew he was crap. I care about Hahn being an idiot with our prospects. Why would we trust him to properly develop any player?

Collins has potential. Reed doesn't. He also walks more, and BA aside, his numbers at the plate in AAA were significantly better than Reed's. I don't know why this is controversial.

Reed IS a bust. You can't tell a sarcastic joke about something that is 100% true.

If something happens to McCann, move Collins there from DH. And if he gets hurt, just let Timmy catch! In all seriousness, he should be in the lineup every day. I don't know about him catching long term, but his bat could be special if we let it develop. Of course, we're going to not develop him as a catcher nor as a hitter.

Yes! Let's play the 26 year old failed prospect who hit .224 in AAA rather than our first round pick from three years ago! This is fucking brilliant! I can't understand why we haven't gone to the playoffs in a decade!

What the fuck are we doing with Collins? He's been up for almost a month and played in eight games. Are you fucking shitting me? Fiers isn't even a lefty! They're gonna fuck this up, and Ricky the Asshole will be directly responsible. Along with batting Jon Jay before Eloy. Fucking idiotic.

Robert HBP. Is he OK? No panic, just following on Gameday. Also, is he gonna lead off long term? Is that really the plan for him? I think his speed is great, but think he'd be better in the cleanup or third slot.
-
It'd be fitting though- Orlando's always been a Sox killer.
-
Robert Ks against Kyle Wright in his first at-bat.
-
Probably a fair point.
-
I agree with that. I don't want to relegate Collins to a bench or platoon player yet, but if we play him and he can't hit lefties, then he can platoon with McCann. If he morphs into an overall hitter/monster, he can DH full time with spot starts at C to rest James, limiting the need for Abreu to stick around. Yolmer could fit on the bench too, I suppose. I've picked on him for a long time, but if he's a defensive focused sub and bench player, he probably has a purpose. As long as we don't have to see his .654 OPS every day. Which is made worse by being right in a row with Tilson/Cordell/Castillo/whoever else.

Starting 2021- 2B Madrigal 3B Moncada CF Robert 1B Vaughn LF Eloy DH Abreu SS Anderson C McCann RF Best of Walker/Adolfo/Gonzalez/Basabe/Rutherford That's a great lineup. And honestly, I think we should resign Abreu and McCann. Abreu might be declining but that's OK- he won't have to be our centerpiece anymore (we could forego this step if Collins turns into an MLB hitter). McCann might regress with the bat, but he's so good defensively and one of the smartest players on the field, so keep him.
-
He might have, already. I see everything in patterns. So when Moncada started hot, I figured it’d follow last year’s trajectory. Hot start, big slump, sight boost late, mediocre overall. I was being sincere when I said I didn’t think he’d OPS .800. But he’s only gotten better since I said that. Maybe I should ditch my obsession with seeing patterns in everything.

If we're on the Philly's glide path and next year is our quasi-contention year, I hope Ricky isn't here any more.
-
He's gonna hit again this inning.
-
Don't you think Robert will be capable of hitting 50 home runs? I could be wrong and you may have been sarcastic, but I swear I remember you saying that and unless hitting home runs is the ONLY thing the guy does, hitting 50 in one season will put him beyond Trout.
-
Seriously, how long do we keep in Charlotte just so the logistics of getting him there aren't wasted? I know I was in the slow roll boat, but I didn't expect him to destroy Birmingham like this, so yeah I was wrong, and I'm honestly just sick of getting to 40% of our lineup and thinking it's a great time to do chores or read a book. Get him up here, have Madrigal and Vaughn soon behind him. Make Baseball Interesting Again!

After the decade we've had, bring it on.

1 run single. I saw the "in play, runs" and my jaw dropped. But alas.
-
1 was a sac fly. He also flew out on the first pitch of his first AB.
-
Somebody who's watching, what were the two flyouts for Robert like? Were they hit hard?
-
Robert's on deck. 1 out. Should be hitting with men on.
-
I'm just come in here and eat my crow now so it's not awkward when this guy comes up and makes Juan Soto look like late-stage Gordon Beckham.

I'll admit to it. When Avi was hitting .330 in July a few years ago, I found myself calculating really shitty performances for the rest of the season just to see what his final slash line would "survive" at. I was thrilled when my pessimistic predictions gave me possibilities like a .280 BA. I've done the same thing with Tim and Yoan this year. I don't know what broke in me, but I find it impossible to believe that Sox hitters will have actual good years. I'm paranoid as fuck.
