  1. Jose isn't what he once was. If we extend him at all, as our prospects come hit and turn into MLB sluggers, he needs to hit 7th or so. How about a diminished skills clause?
  2. The more I see from him, the more I think he could actually be the one to change this trend we have.
  3. Robert BB. Six pitches. Just based on Gameday, but it looks like he was making the correct decision on close pitches.
  4. Honestly, I think it's because we have so many crap players whose days here are limited. Yolmer will be replaced by Madrigal in the near future, so personally, I'm ambivalent towards him now.
  5. Sure. IF they gave him 450 ABs in three consecutive seasons, and saw that he was a .220 hitter with decent enough LH power that he could hit a few bombs and do decently behind the plate, then maybe you decide to find something better and use him primarily as a backup. But you don't plan that from the outset. We still don't even know what we have with Collins, because we brought him for a month and played him in nine games or so. Maybe he'll hit 25 home runs a year behind the plate or maybe he'll flunk out of the league. We still have NO idea.
  6. Looks like I've made it to somebody's ignore list.
  7. What are you talking about? It's clear now that Hahn used a tenth overall pick to find the backup catcher of the future! It's a move so brilliant and forward thinking that it's beyond our capability for comprehension! Don't doubt the Hahnster!
  8. At least he’ll finally get playing time again. Thanks for nothing, Rick and Ricky, you stupid assholes.
  9. Rondon fielded it, didn't take his time with a throw to second (which would have been feasible) and threw the ball up the RF line. Pinder scored without a throw.
  10. Because he does. Running to first, playing the field, whatever. I guess his friendship with Machado makes him think he has the talent level of Machado.
  11. OUT!! Fuck you, Oakland! And I was screaming at my computer screen for Ryan to let it drop, but damn glad he didn't! And FWIW, I think his hand glided over the plate before McCann got him. I don't think it touched down. Looks like there's shadow below it.
  12. I don't know about you, but I totally watch baseball games to see grown men dump gatorade jugs on themselves.
  13. To be fair, you've never appreciated when I predicted things less easy. ? Also, this thread has a serious Streisand effect.
  14. Stone is right. Salad is primarily a means to devouring salad dressing without getting weird looks. Change my mind!
  15. If y'all haven't seen the Jomboy channel on YouTube, it's worth your time. Got a lot of interesting baseball commentary videos (I first found it when Timmy did his ridiculous KC bat flip). I guess they got bored over the AS break and did a commentary video on buzkashi, the game from Central Asia where horsemen try to throw a goat carcass in a hole:
  16. I'm not a super optimist, so this isn't some trend that I'm going to uphold mindlessly. Right now, we're the 2014 Cubs. Or the 2014 Astros. Or the 2017 Braves. Or the 2018 Phillies (IDK, I think they're on the up and up). It might go a little bit differently for us, but at the very least, with Robert and Madrigal up, Cease, Kopech, and Gio in the rotation, and a few free agent signings, we should win 85-90 next year and contend for one of the WCs. Undeniable dominance in 2021. If we don't do that, heads need to roll. Feel free to bookmark this post.
  17. Not based on statistics, but my gut tells me you're correct here. It seems like scrambling to work out on a Saturday morning, hit confession, and handle my other business all so that I'm home and relaxed by the time the game comes on just to then be looking for something else to do a few minutes later is a recurring motif this year.
  18. Let's not freak out about this. First, I'm 32 and the west coast has been a house of horrors for us since I was a child. Second, none of the really embarrassing players so far today are significant for the long term health of this team. Who cares about winning? We're not getting that second wild card, fellas, but we are going to end the season close to .500. Root for Moncada, Jimenez, Collins, and to a lesser extent, Leury, Abreu and McCann. Forget everyone else.
  19. If Ricky attended a manager school, they need to give him his money back.
  20. Between Reed, Covey, and that stupid Tupac song, I don't know if I'm long for this game.
  21. The ball bounced. And they whined terribly about that (correct) call, as if changing it would have won them the game (false), when they hit so poorly that our bullpen had to get all of two outs in the entire series.
