**7/9 Game Thread: White Sox vs The Not So Braves"
The Sir replied to Brian's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Man, can Benetti shut up already? I don't care that Quintana isn't on the AS team. It's a pointless game and he doesn't pitch like an AS. Can't Benetti just sit there and announce the plays as they occur? Dude is so annoying. -

Wow. Only his eighth HR with men on this year. -

f*** you, Abreu. You weren't even running. You're straight up f***ing garbage this year. -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) He gave up one homer... He's given up four or more runs in three of his last six starts. He's not an AS because he's pitching like s***, not because Ned Yost is the devil. -

Unbelievable. Someone remind me how Q was a huge AS snub, please. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) I guarantee you there was never a game they combined for five hits as White Sox. You're wrong. April 3rd, 2013: Beckham went 4 for 4, and Flowers had a hit. There's five. May 6th, 2014: Beckham went 4 for 5, and Flowers had a hit. May 20th, 2014: Beckham had three hits, and Flowers two. July 25th, 2014: Beckham had two hits, and Flowers three. June 3rd, 2015: Beckham had two hits, and Flowers three. Hope you didn't bet the house. -

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 07:54 PM) I don't care if Sale ever wins a Cy Young or not. I just want to see the White Sox win multiple World Series in the next few years. You're going to be disappointed. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) Wright and Salazar are in much better position than those 3 listed. Tanaka? For the 4th place Yankees? Really? The other guy already mentioned Salazar and Wright. I was bringing up other competitors. And yeah, just like superficial s*** like W-L matters, playing for the Yankees matters. -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) He has no competition other than Salazar and Wright, who are both pitching way over their heads. I think he still has a shot, but he has to right the ship. FAST. Hamels. Estrada (nobody gives a s*** about FIP). Tanaka. Right now, I think Hamels wins it. Put Sale in fourth. Edit- I forgot Quintana. Voters will see him as the second best on his own team just due to history, and he won't get a single vote. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) Sale had a bad game that's call. Half a season to go and I think he is still the Cy Young leader Unless you think the voters will just slobber over wins and losses, there's no possible way. And again, 5 crummy starts in 9. Not "a bad game". -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) Bumgarner's career regular season numbers are worse than Sale for the most part. Postseason stats are obviously in his favor though. I disagree. Bumgarner has three seasons of 200 IP. Sale has never done that. -

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) Pretty much agree. I honestly think it's all mental with him. His ability and talent is second to none. Yeah, I do think you're right that it's mental. Just compare his game logs with some of those other guys. Bumgarner has given up four ERs twice this year. In one other start, he only went five innings. Beyond that, it's complete dominance. We need to ditch that whole "Sale is best LHP outside of Kershaw"- it's offensive. -

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 07:51 PM) Sale's s***ty stretch pretty much ensures he's out of the Cy race. Incredible how quickly he tanked it. Chris Sale isn't going to win the CY this year, or any other year. He'll perennially finish in the top five or so, but never first. He's just missing something from really being on level with Kershaw, Felix and even a guy like Bumgarner. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) Arrieta's going through a similar stretch, albeit his ERA is lower due to pitching in the NL. 6 ER in 6+ innings. In fact, I'm sure there will be 10X more panic in Chicago over Arrieta than anything you hear about Chris Sale. His ERA is lower because he's pitched better. Arrieta's give up four or more runs in a game four times the entire season, and that's including tonight. As for the second part, no offense, but I don't even live in the Midwest. So who panics about what in Chicago is pretty irrelevant to me. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) The number of "fans" piling on Sale tonight is absolute trash. Yes, he's allowed to have a bad game. He's given up four or more runs in five of his last nine starts. Not very ace like. He's allowed a bad game, but this isn't one bad game. This is a bad stretch. Edit- Also, this team is s***. Beyond Freeman, they have nothing. -

ERA at 3.39. Against this f***ing piece of s*** lineup, this is unforgivable. Dude should have the integrity to not pitch the AS game. He needs to get his f***ing head on straight after the mediocrity of some of his recent starts and the outright s***tiness of this one. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) So this lineup is clearly much better with Sanchez instead of Avisail. Just gonna call it now. Not sure I'd go that far that quick, and I'm no Avi nut hugger. -

I honestly have no idea how Yankees fans get excited about watching this group of geriatrics day after day. Carlos Beltran? Mark Teixeira? Brian McCann? AROD?! Their fascinating young prospect to follow is...Didi Gregorius? God, that's rough. And they're under .500? If this combination of roster and success (or lack thereof) was on the Southside, we'd be lucky to draw 10,000 a game. -

That makes sense, especially about the launch angle issue. I clearly remember that he used to throw these totally ineffective worm burners. Either way, glad that's fixed! -

I swear I used to watch Adam Eaton throw and think to myself that he had the arm of a teenage girl. When did that change? -
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) Rodon has a chance still to be a good pitcher. Avi Garcia, on the other hand, is dogs***. This. I fully expect Rodon to reach at least Quintana's level. Avisail just needs to disappear.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) the sox are averaging 5.1 runs a game over their last 12. They're facing Tanaka and it doesn't appear that Rodon is going to shut them down anytime soon. I'm still watching but I suspect this will get very out of hand, unfortunately.
-
QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) 15 starts, 8 of them quality, 1 of them high quality. He usually sucks. Also, get Avi the f*** out of there. I'll ditch my Saladino grudge if it send Avi away permanently. What a f***ing clown. 50% QS rate now.
